Weight: 164.0

I had my chicken salad for lunch yesterday and made myself a chicken sandwich for dinner - yummy success, except for the fact that I had to eat two sandwiches because they were so good. They looked a little like this:

And then around 9pm I was suddenly really thirsty and gulped down a litre of water right then and there. And, on to book 3! I'm really flying through these books now.

I'm sad because I only have one more after this one :(

So tonight is another episode of Survivor. At lunchtime if I remember i'm going to pack my gym bag and head to the gym right after work. That leaves me with the rest of the night to watch my show and read my book :) Good Times.

Happy Humpday!

Progress as of today: 11 lbs lost so far, only 9 lbs to go!

biscottibody59 on 03/02/2011:
Have a lovely Wednesday!

Congrats on the loss--keep up the good work!

getmebackto150 on 03/02/2011:
Mmmm... that sandwich looks DELILSH! Have a great day!

Umpqua on 03/02/2011:
Great looking sandwich there! You are zooming through those books, I did that with the Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood) series, couldn't put them down. Have a good one!

sweetpea1977 on 03/02/2011:
YUM! Im a sucker for good sandwiches, I would have eaten two of those too!! :)

Have a great day!!

geevee on 03/02/2011:
With bread like that, how could you possibly resist having a second sandwich?

nita51 on 03/02/2011:
AWESOME looking sandwich! that picture made me think of my Sunday Sub :)

starfish on 03/02/2011:
I LOVE it when I have a series of books I'm into and yeah so sad when I'm done with them all.

loveray on 03/02/2011:
chicken salad looks awesome!! reading and drinking water sounds like a great plan to avoid too much snacking or binging. awesome job!

V on 03/02/2011:
I am in a bit of a reading frenzy myself, and the only downfall is the lack of sleep at night, LOL have a good one girl!

Good morning Ladies :)))

I had a wonderful afternoon yesterday consisting of exactly what I wanted - afternoon tv and naps! It was very cold outside so I was happy that I was able to stay inside and warm and not have to go anywhere. I am now reading book 2 of the Kim Harrison series:

I'm definitely getting into the books, although i'm not liking the fact that it obviously wasn't edited very well. There are spelling and grammar errors all over the place and it's getting irritating!

I woke up with a slight headache this morning but I feel better as the day wears on. I had a lovely ham & cheese sandwich on whole grain bread yesterday and i'm totally craving another one today. Obviously because it has my two favorite ingredients: cheese and bread! But I think instead I will have a chicken salad for lunch and maybe save the sandwich for dinner because it was so filling.

I am not sure when i'll hit the gym for another run. I'm trying to start out slowly so that I decrease the chance of getting shin splints or over-working myself.

(this little guy looks like he's hurting)

I'm trying to be smart about it and work back up to having fun with running. Well that's it from me today; hope everyone reaches their goals today!

Progress as of today: 11 lbs lost so far, only 9 lbs to go!

getmebackto150 on 03/01/2011:
can't wait till its warm enough for both of us to run outside... Its really not warm enough here yet, but I'm taking every single opportunity that I get!!! Today is too cold again... blah... Plus the roads (where everything melted yesterday) are all frozen solid... I'm thinking 2-3 more weeks and I will HOPEFULLY be able to do a large portion of my running outside... We shall see...

geevee on 03/01/2011:
I'll take bread over dessert any day! (That includes muffins, bagels, etc.)

Supercheese on 03/01/2011:
Cheese and bread are my favorite too. I can eat a grilled cheese any day any time. But, i've decided a little bit is ok......good job on the chicken salad though!

Umpqua on 03/01/2011:
Yummm, sandwich :) Have a good one!

waydesmommy on 03/01/2011:
Spelling errors in books suck...but with it being about the undead maybe it was meant to be that way...lol. You know..ghosts can't spell well on a Quija board...lol. Anyways...have a great day!

V on 03/01/2011:
LOL!!! You are too funny :) Hey I am so terrified of the "c" word, they are super creepy :(

Supercheese on 03/01/2011:
lmao, lox is smoked salmon. I guess it must be my new yorker come out of me since we call it that there :)

moogy on 03/01/2011:
I love reading but have never come across a book with spelling mistakes. Shoddy workman ship, I would be tempted to write to the publisher. Now I am wanting a toasted ham and cheese sandwich, fortunately I don't have any cheese. Phew! Have a good day legcramps!!

lifestylechange on 03/01/2011:
I love reading:)) That looks like a great book. Reading is great for me to keep my "boredom snacking" away.... Especially at night time after dinner/getting my girly's to bed. Thanks for your sweet comment, have a great day!!

Weight: 164.0

I weighed 164 this morning before jumping in the shower. Another loss that I will hopefully be able to hang onto.

I made it to the gym on Saturday. There were only two other people there when I arrived, and they left fairly quickly so I was by myself for a bit. I was there just over an hour, and did 40 minutes on the treadmill, some lifting and then stretched and went home. I went 3.03 miles on the treadmill, so i'm happy with that pace seeing as I missed almost three weeks of running. No shin splints at all! So far so good :)

The rest of the weekend seemed to fly right by and here it is, Monday again. I've taken the afternoon off work and I plan to watch afternoon soaps the whole time and maybe nap, LOL. Have a great day everyone!

Progress as of today: 11 lbs lost so far, only 9 lbs to go!

sweetpea1977 on 02/28/2011:
Yay! Congratulations!!!

Enjoy your afternoon nap!!

Umpqua on 02/28/2011:
Woot woot! Congrats!

liza36 on 02/28/2011:
Congrats on the loss - that's awesome. Loved the pics of the treadmill and cute doggie.

moogy on 02/28/2011:
Well done, that is a great reward for your hard work. Good for you!!

V on 02/28/2011:
Hey girlie! I hope you got some well deserved rest :) And catching up with the soaps more importantly!! LOl

It's minus 39 celsius with windchill this morning. I'm struggling to convince myself that it's ok; to start up the car and make the trip to the gym. It hasn't worked yet, but i've had my oatmeal and cup of coffee, so anytime now I can force myself to go. I thought if I came on here and shared with all of you, it might give me some extra motivation to get there.

While I am arguing with myself, I thought i'd share a picture of my new-old treadmill with you!

Don't mind the quality - I left my camera at work so i'm using my blackberry to take the pictures. Anyways, it's a nice old one! Those handles on each side? I grip them pretty hard because i'm still so scared of the thing. I can't run on this yet - too scared - which is why I need to go to the gym this morning.

And heck, why not? Here's a picture of Dog hanging out on the couch.

Don't worry, she's scheduled for a haircut on March 9th. I think for hallowe'en she wants to be a lion...

Progress as of today: 8.5 lbs lost so far, only 11.5 lbs to go!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 02/26/2011:
you are right, i will lose weight if i still eat 2,000 a day..pretty nice, i'd say!

i don't get bored bc i'm at the gym with the weights and i can walk around to different exercises, go on the elliptical for 5 minutes, bang out some pushups, go back to the elliptical...i can mix it up a lot at the gym and everyone around me is great motivation! :-) never bored with weights! yes, i do get bored with cardio though!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 02/26/2011:
wow, that is literally too cold for anyone! ouch. i don't know what i'd do!

KathyBlue on 02/26/2011:
the dog is hibernating :)

chidogs on 02/26/2011:
Brrrrrrrrrrr. But Dog looks warm and comfy. Cuteness!

sweetpea1977 on 02/26/2011:
Wow, thats cold!!

Your dog is cute!! Is her name literally Dog? I had a friend who once name his dog Dioge (pronounced De-oh-gee). :)

I hope you made it to the gym!!

moogy on 02/26/2011:
Good grief, I love the cold but cold here is Sydney is only about 50 degrees. I am not encouraging you not to go out but I would have a walk on the treadmill, fast!! and then snuggle up. The dog has the right idea!!

biscottibody59 on 02/27/2011:
Have a good day!

V on 02/27/2011:
LOL!!! She would be a cute lion for halloween!!

I'm still riding a high from receiving my runners yesterday; i'm so pumped :-)

I went for another walk on the treadmill and boy, do these runners ever make a difference compared to the hard, cheaper runners I was using before.  It will take a bit to get used to them, so i've brought them to work with me today and i'm going to walk around with them all day and hopefully break 'em in a bit.  I have a run planned for tomorrow morning which I was going to do outside, but I think i'll hit up the gym instead so I can use my new runners :-)

Now that boot camp sessions are over, i'm feeling fidgety and anxious because i'm not doing anything substantial for exercise right now.  But once I get back into running i'll be burning up the calories.  That's the plan, anyways!

I also got started on the first of my new books, "Dead Witch Walking"

(yes, i'm a fan of fantasy and folklore).  It was a hard start, but now that i'm almost halfway through it (speedy gonzales) it's starting to get more interesting.  The first book in a series is usually always a little slow.

It's really cold here this morning, minus 42 celsius with windchill.  Gosh, i've had enough of winter.  Enough!

Progress as of today: 8.5 lbs lost so far, only 11.5 lbs to go!

KathyBlue on 02/25/2011:
wow, seems to be an interesting book!!! :)

KathyBlue on 02/25/2011:
MINUS 42 Celsius??? Are you sure??? That's... extraordinary!

Umpqua on 02/25/2011:
Those shoes look awesome. And running inside sounds like a good idea with those temps, holy cow! Have a good one!

liza36 on 02/25/2011:
Awesome shoes! I hear good shoes make all the difference - less shin splints, more cushion, etc. Glad you found some that feel great.

chidogs on 02/25/2011:
Your plan sounds good, and glad the shoes are working well! My reading guilt is scifi/fantasy. And those are hard to find in libraries in any quantity!

moogy on 02/25/2011:
It sounds like our competitive legcramps is back. Itching to get out there, I hope that the weather is good to go and that you fly over the ground in your new runners.!!

nita51 on 02/25/2011:
Thank you, I'll think about you girlies, while on my trip :)

I got my runners in the mail today!!! LOVE!

They are Mizuno Wave Rider 13's! It's like moving on air :)

The only issue with this is that I also received four brand new books to read. Oh gawd. What to do.

Progress as of today: 8.5 lbs lost so far, only 11.5 lbs to go!

sweetpea1977 on 02/24/2011:
Those are some nice running shoes!! As for your conundrum, I'd recommend going running first then reward yourself with a few chapters from a new book! :-)

moogy on 02/24/2011:
Excellent, I guess we can expect some serious competition coming up during the summer. I mean your running in comps not against me!!!!! I am pretty sure that you would leave me in the dust, on second thought, make that definietly leave me eating dust!!

biscottibody59 on 02/24/2011:
omigod--I have a pair of these I've been using for walks for a couple months now, and for my foot, they're perfect--I do have a pair of the usual brand I buy, but these are giving that model some great competition. I had worn a pair of Mizuno's a couple years ago and they didn't hold up well--this model seems to be much more durable than those.

I hope they keep your feet and shins very happy!

V on 02/24/2011:
Great shoes girly!! You will be comfy now with your runs! Makes life a heck of alot less painful :) Have a good one!

Runforfun on 02/24/2011:
haha sweet shoes!! I love to read too but it always get in the way of my homework and exercising! :/

chidogs on 02/24/2011:
Nice shoes! I read constantly, and unfortunately I also read fast so I spend a fortune on paperbacks. I'm trying to use my library card more but they often don't have the stuff I want. 4 new books! Heaven.

It's a comedic tragedy.

I was all set to write a new entry today, and on the main Diet Diaries page I scanned the forum headlines and the top one said "Buttermilk Pumpkin Walnut Muffins".

I just can't concentrate on an entry anymore.  I want a muffin.

Progress as of today: 8.5 lbs lost so far, only 11.5 lbs to go!

sweetpea1977 on 02/24/2011:

Its all Umpqua's fault!!!

chidogs on 02/24/2011:
An attention grabber for sure. Think I'll go look up that recipe too.... :)

Umpqua on 02/24/2011:
Some people like cupcakes exclusively, while myself, I say there is naught nor ought there be nothing so exalted on the face of god's grey earth as that prince of foods.....The Muffin!

liza36 on 02/24/2011:
Sure sounds delishious. Have a good one.

geevee on 02/24/2011:
Those muffins ARE good, Legcramps. I ate two of them right before coming to the library to use the computer, and they are still stuck in my mind. It's going to be hard staying away from them!

Well, even though I was not feeling well yesterday (or maybe because I was not feeling well) I jumped on the treadmill at home for a quick walk.  I could definitely feel it in my calves, so i'm not very pleased with myself for getting away from the exercise - it only means i'll have to start at the beginning again.

Anyways, the little walk worked wonders.  The wee wittle walk worked wonders.

Not right away, of course, but I woke up this morning feeling tonnes better and without the full, bloated feeling of yesterday.  Gotta say i'm fairly certain it had something to do with my gall bladder, but let's move on.  I skipped breakfast this morning because I was scared the fullness would come back, opting for liquid heaven (coffee) instead, but brought some trail mix to work with me to snack on throughout the morning.  Love me some almonds!

I watched Glee last night - anyone else?  I was aware that the show's message had something to do with underage drinking, but I didn't really feel like they actually got to the point.  I kinda felt like they were kind of lax about the whole thing.  What did you think?  I was very happy that "Brittany" finally got to show some talent!  She's an awesome dancer.

I hope it warms up outside today so that I can take Dog for a walk after work so she'll stop with the puppy dog beggy eyes already :P  I also need to get a bank deposit ready and start working on the second draft of our slo-pitch team's logo.  Wow, I didn't realize I had such a full day ahead of me!

Progress as of today: 8.5 lbs lost so far, only 11.5 lbs to go!

getmebackto150 on 02/23/2011:
I hear you on the little bit of exercise making youfeel better... I did about 10 minutes on the eliptical and about 10 minutes of toning and I also felt much better... Have a good one!

Umpqua on 02/23/2011:
I'm glad you got a wee walk in and are feeling better. We have been SO lucky with tenants respecting the house over the last few years and so it's always scary getting new people in. These are 2 young ladies working at Yale though, much better than frat boys :P Have a good one!

sweetpea1977 on 02/23/2011:
Good for you on doing the wee wittle walk!! :)

I hope your day is warm and sunny!!

moogy on 02/23/2011:
You know, ever since I started typing it every morning it hasn't been a problem. I don't know if the talking and typing is doing the trip or nothing has come up yet. Love the alliteration. Glad you are feeling better:)

biscottibody59 on 02/23/2011:
You should still have a little fitness left from your previous training--good getting in your walk!

Thanks! On my exercise, it looks like a lot--really though it's not that much. For me, it's been more about practicing consistency and is getting me more fit from week to week. It's been a slow process.

V on 02/23/2011:
I didn't realize how long it had been since you ran but I am sure you will be right back at it cause you are a Ninja my friend!! :) Have a good one!!!

I think I would like to get through two weeks without having sickness bring me down.  I woke up this morning with an odd feeling in my stomach that I still haven't been able to shake and it's already well into the afternoon.

I had a lovely four-day weekend and am really not so happy about having to come back to work today :P  It will be so nice to get some holidays in at some point this spring - i'm hoping for two weeks in April just to wind-down from the winter and gear-up for the spring and summer.  I seriously can't wait for spring at this point.  I'm so irritated with the condition of the roads, the silly weather changing all the time, and the blinding snow.  I'm just done with it all!  I want to get back to bbq'ing and sitting out on the deck in my backyard, playing ball and enjoying the warmth of the sun.

No word yet on the status of the request to reconsider my wage.  I have a sneaky feeling it will take some time as our Human Resource dept has not been very willing to help out.

I have an errand to run after work today, but then I think i'll be heading home and trying to deal with this stomach thing.  I feel like I need a nap, but I always feel this way in the afternoon ;)

Progress as of today: 8.5 lbs lost so far, only 11.5 lbs to go!

moogy on 02/22/2011:
I am sorry that you are feeling unwell again. Doesn't seem fair and I really hope that your weather warms up for you. I am sure that you will feel better once the sun has a chance to shine on you!

BBQing and playing outside sounds wonderful. My poor boys are going crazy being cooped up in the house all the time, all of us want out of here LOL. I hope you get some good news on an increase soon, you really deserve it. Have a good one and I hope your tummy feels better!

V on 02/22/2011:

I'm glad I ranted yesterday about my job, and I appreciate all the comments and feedback and advice - I just didn't have anyone else to complain to :(

I've talked to my current supervisor and i've talked to my old supervisor. They tell me that the reason some people are at a higher pay grade ($8,000 per year more) is because of who they report to (i.e. they report to a Vice President, I reported to a Director). Since we all think that is utterly ridiculous and offensive, they will be advocating on our behalf to try and move the three of us into the higher level pay grade. If that doesn't work, i'll be writing a formal request for compensation during the time I worked two positions. It'll be a wait-and-see game.

I feel like I don't have the energy to put into being healthy; i've obviously gotten myself into a funk because of all this work stuff. I know that if I continue to exercise it will help me to at least be able to vent about it, so i'm going to try my best to attend boot camp tonight.

I have put off running for the time being, because 1) of stupid aforementioned funk and 2) I need new runners and i'm not going to continue to kill my shins because i'm too lazy to buy new ones.

I hope to get back to running and eating healthy. I always start my day off well, with oatmeal or a bagel, and I drink lots of water during the day. Lunch is usually small if not always healthy. It's dinner and the evening snacking that is my downfall right now. I just need to get myself motivated again.

Progress as of today: 8.5 lbs lost so far, only 11.5 lbs to go!

Well done, I think you have made a pro active stand and it is good to have other workers supporting you. It is hard to keep focus when things in life feel out of control. I hope that you have a better day today legcramps:)

I am sure that the boot camp will allow you to ease yourself of a few frustrations...Sorry you are in a funk

Horn_Of_Plenty on 02/19/2011:
LOL, i'm finally getting to read through all my comments :-) and I'm reading something you wrote to me in January....that A$$ goes away after awhile...YES, IN FACT IT DOES! even if it's a LOOOONNNGGG while. we can lose what we've gained. :-)

i remember youused to not really post your weights, if I'm correct. I'm glad you are. for some reason, it's best not to ignore your weight for your own benefit. nobody judges here and i feel that unless it is for a real good reason, that posting your weight at least keeps you aware of it more...ignorance is not bliss :-)
