Yes, i'm definitely on an exercise high and can totally imagine getting burnout soon. Must be very careful.

Boot camp was awesome. It's amazing how a person can feel so exhausted and yet not be exhausted at all. I was so tired yesterday at work and after work. I just really didn't want to go to boot camp because I figured it would be a struggle for me the whole time because I was exhausted. But I got my crap together long enough to get in the car and drive over to the gym in time for the class.

It was really hard to get into it. My shoulders felt like they were hanging out at my waistline, that's how bummed I felt about being there. I just wasn't willing to put in the effort. And then the instructor started making us run, getting our heartrates up, switching things up - pissing me off. And I must've crossed whatever barrier was holding me back, because after that little rip up, I was good to go. In fact, I was mentally asking Mr. Instructor Dude to freakin' Bring It On.

It wasn't that I found any extra energy, it's just that I found some adrenaline and a pace that was more interesting. The class sped by after that and I went home tired but really happy that i'd gone.

My eating over the past week leaves something to be desired. I've been taking in sodium like crazy and I can feel it in the bloatedness of my body. It's impossible to start working out at a higher intensity without adding the required fuel that I need to get me through the classes. This means i've been eating more, but i've also been choosing foods that realistically I don't require. I think it'll be back to chicken next week - for the past few weeks i've been making meals with red meat and maybe I need to slow down on the red meat for a bit. The trouble is that most red meat products are far less costly :( and i'm on a tight budget and therefore need to seriously consider what i'm spending money on.

Anyways, hope you're all doing well and it's Friday so i'm GOING TO take the time to comment on your entries today - I have a few priority jobs to do and THAT'S ALL i'm gonna do today ;)

Progress as of today: 5.5 lbs lost so far, only 14.5 lbs to go!

KathyBlue on 01/14/2011:
lol, great plan :D I see bootcamp is in fashion, have to look after that over the weekend!:D

sweetpea1977 on 01/14/2011:
Yay for bootcamp! So glad that it ended up being a good thing for you. :)

As for your budget, I have a few ideas.

1. Start visiting your store(s) websites online before heading to the store and see when their sales take place. If they have sales ad onlines, you can make your grocery list based on the items that are on sale (and then add the weekly essentials you cant live without). Most of the time, you can find enough healthy sale items (fresh fruits, veggies, whole grains, lean meats, and fish) on there for you to last on for a week. If chicken or turkey items happen to be on sale, stock up on those for you to last a month or two. Invest in some ziplock bags and portion out your meats into individual servings, note the date with a permanent marker, and stack them in the back of your freezer.

2. Buy generic whenever possible and do price comparison shopping on items you're on the fence about. (take a calculator with you if you suck at math like me). Perhaps the price difference will convince you to try other brands or the generic stuff. FYI, most generic stuff is produced at the same processing plants as major name brand stuff, so you're essentially paying extra for fancy packaging.

3. One of my stores is known for its Buy One Get One free sales, so if you have a store like that in your area shop there first.

4. Shop at multiple stores. Compare sale ads and see who has the better deals on the same/similar items. Separate your coupons and grocery lists by stores and save up! FYI, the drug stores here in the USA seem to save me the most money. I've heard they are the best place to buy your makeup and hygiene goods.

5. If you can clip coupons (which I recommend), you can combine those with sale items, BOGO items, and store coupons, which will save you even more money. :) Also, if your store has a member card, sign up for one and it will reward you with points and/or give you further discounts on items. These items are usually marked with special stickers on the shelves.

Great job on the bootcamp! I find myself getting angry during workouts sometimes for no good reason. I think it's just my body's way of revving up since I'm normally a pretty mellow person LOL. Have a good one!

sweetpea1977 on 01/14/2011:
You're welcome! Good luck on your money saving adventures.

BTW, like you and Umpqua, I get very angry during workouts too. I scream and throw a fit, especially if Im following a Jillian Michaels workout! Im not-so-sweet-sweetpea when I am around her! lol But I always feel better afterwards, so its totally worth it!

biscottibody59 on 01/14/2011:
I don't know, this slow road back from where I *think* I once was--looking back can be disheartening--leaves a lot to be desired.

As long as you're not doing permanent damage--keep on keepin' on!

Have a lovely afternoon!

liza36 on 01/14/2011:
Awesome job at bootcamp. I don't know that I've ever gotten angry during a workout. Actually, I guess I should work out first to find out. Have a good one!

moogy on 01/14/2011:
I am so glad that you were able to ramp it up for Boot Camp, well done you!! I am so proud of you, it wouldn't have been easy and I am sure that your muscles will be complaining today. But, you did it so good for you!!

Maria7 on 01/14/2011:
Wow, sounds like you had quite an intense workout...sure need good food for the required energy for that and the red meat with the iron in it probably helped a lot. Take good care of yourself. Hope you're having a nice evening. :-)

Man i wish i could accompany you to a workout :( Why do you live so far away??? Rats! LOl have a good one

Phew, first break in the day.

So yesterday after work I ran a few errands then went home to ponder whether I should work out or not. I really didn't want to overdo it and burn myself out, so I was trying to talk myself out of it. Like really, how often does that happen?! I ended up managing to stay out of the gym and inside the house for a solid hour before giving up. In that hour I walked around doing chores and picking up after myself; so strong was my resolve to workout that I decided at that point to do some stairclimbing. I ran upstairs, got changed into my workout clothes, ran down the stairs and turned around and ran back up again. This occurred for about ten minutes to get me huffing and puffing and nice and loose. Then I jogged around inside the house for five minutes. It feels a lot different jogging around without any runners on :)

Anyways so I got in 15 minutes of exercise and felt better about myself afterwards, so all is good in my world. I know I didn't overdo it, but I still got up and moving and did something.

Then I phoned out-of-province 55 times to help my brother try to get their kids into French Immersion kindergarten.

Then I had about 1500 e-mails to answer.

Then Dog puked all over my bed sheets.

The frustrating feelings I had by the end of the night seem to have runneth over into today. I'm so ready for boot camp tonight to let off some steam. Seriously, when the chair of a meetings says "please silence your cellphones" it means SILENCE them, don't put them on vibrate. I realize the sound of a vibrating phone shouldn't bother me as much as it does, but it's debatable when they go off one after the other and i'm trying to listen to a soft-spoken person talk all morning.

Progress as of today: 5.5 lbs lost so far, only 14.5 lbs to go!

liza36 on 01/13/2011:
I'm quite impressed with your determination re: exercise. I loved reading your post yesterday and your description of day 2 of boot camp. Quite intense! You must elaborate on the most perfect taco salad EVER. Must know what's in this perfect concoction.

V on 01/13/2011:
Yup you definitely need to blow off a little/lot of steam...I am certain after boot camp you will be at ease ;) Have a good one!

Day 2 of the Boot Camp soapie:   "Wasted"

It was in the middle of a lunge. It happened so quickly, I barely had the chance to even ponder the shock. Amidst the groaning and crying and baying of the crowd around me, great effort was being put forth in the last few minutes of the session, sort of like an all-out "last chance" workout. Sweat rolled off foreheads, those who had larger breasts probably felt as if they'd been ripped right off their bodies. I was lunging beside a woman slightly older than I, slight in build; a bouncy, jolly person. I wanted to hurt her. "Urgh" I said aloud, not caring who heard me. She looked over at me and said, "oh, it's almost over, don't worry" in her bouncy, jolly voice. I barely even turned my head her way, mentally motioning to her with my middle finger. "Urgh" was all I said in reply. And here is where time slowed down. I sweep my right leg forward and move down into a lunge; the instructor, who is standing very near me, slowly turns his head towards where I am. I try to move up out of the lunge. My right leg buckles, I take in a sharp breath of air and am suddenly helpless as I start to fall towards the floor. I see the instructor move slightly towards me; I slam into the floor with my right hand and push myself back up into a standing position. The instructor stops, his hands suspended in the air. I am shaking, sweating, wasted. His job is done.

Can you believe that? I swear it's true. My legs were totally wasted last night. I was praying all class for a running break but it was all about working the legs. Intense. I only had enough energy for one helping of my most perfect taco salad EVER. And why is it so perfect, you ask? I dunno, i'm sorry. I don't have the energy to go over the ingredients.

I think I lost three pounds in water weight just during that one class. But don't worry, i'm sure i'll find a way to get them back ;)

I am itching to run, but am trying to restrain myself from doing anything today. My shins hurt, I know I need to rest. But I am itching to run.

Progress as of today: 5.5 lbs lost so far, only 14.5 lbs to go!

loveray on 01/12/2011:
haha yes i am in the middle of doing my new workout regime which includes a lot of side lunging and stair stepping and my legs are jello as well! i hope you have a wonderful day and get some rest for your legs. walking/running always helps get the energy out, but do something light. xo

biscottibody59 on 01/12/2011:

V on 01/12/2011:
Oh MY!!! Take it easy there KILLER ;) You would be proud, No shennanagins from me today(yet) ;) Have a good one and if you go for your run, please don't overdo it!

legcramps - Tuesday Jan 11, 2011

Weight: 169.5

So yesterday the plan was to go to the gym for a run on the treadmill. I got there late and had to hurry to get my runners on and stand in line to get the next available treadmill. Ha-ha. Kidding. There was only, like, three people there. Five including Running Buddy and me.

I decided to try a speed workout, mostly due to the fact that I was too scared to see how far I could run because I figured it wouldn't be very far at all.

The workout went alright until the very end. I was doing pretty good, had paced myself properly and wasn't too out of breath, but my left shin was starting to bother me. I ran through it until my right hip started to tweak. I think I must've been over-compensating on the right side. Anyways, the following thoughts ran through my head at this point: "do you want to give it your very best and push past all your limits and go for it today? or do you feel enough pain that you think maybe it isn't about pushing past limits but rather knowing when to stop, leaving the glory for another day?" I was in a little bit of pain, mostly through the shin and I was scared that I would overdo it and not be able to go to Boot Camp tonight. So I walked it out from then on. This morning the shin still hurts, so i'm hoping I didn't do any major damage and will be able to make it to Boot Camp.

Then I went home and made the most perfect taco salad EVER.

And I had seconds, because that's what you do when you make the most perfect taco salad EVER.

So the moral of the story is this: run more, eat more.

Sigh. I will stop analyzing my life now.

Progress as of today: 5.5 lbs lost so far, only 14.5 lbs to go!

V on 01/11/2011:
I think your analyzing is a recipe for success! I love how you are always thinking how you can improve, motivate yourself! Nothing wrong with that! These are the qualities of a champ! Hurrah!

Umpqua on 01/11/2011:
Umm, taco salad. The cookies were great! I used this recipe http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=6391.0 except for regular (non-vegan) chocolate chips. I think next time I will try to substitute applesauce for the canola oil for less calories and fat. I think they're more filling than regular too since my boys can only eat 1 at a time, whereas they inhale Tollhouse cookies!

moogy on 01/11/2011:
So funny, yep, you have to listen to your body, it knows what is going on better than you do!! I love the perfect taco salad, sooo good you had to eat it twice!!! Ha Ha I think we could put bets on how long you will last before you start analyzing again! LOL You would be you legcramps if you weren't thinking about how things are working or how to get the best out of yourself.:)

V on 01/11/2011:
Hilarious! It is great to know that we have people looking out for us but driving 1 block over seems to be a tad bit redounkulous, I have to admit i have done it before :( I must thank you too for the motivation for starting this so please continue your tales of the world of legcramps! I am glad we can pump each other up!

sweetpea1977 on 01/11/2011:
mmmm, taco salad. What made yours so perfect that you had to go back for seconds? :)

Weight: 169.5

These last three days off have been really good for me.  I managed to talk (a.k.a. complain) to three different people about my work situation (four including you guys :)), and I feel tons better about everything.  One friend suggested that I stop trying to get everything done and start realizing that even though it is engrained in me to work hard and try to be everything to everyone, I have to show some concern for my own health right now.  So i'm going to slow down, leave aside the things that don't need to be done, and if i'm asked about it I will then discuss workload and possible compensation over and above what i'm getting now.  It feels good to have a plan :)

I watched a lot of tv this weekend.  Reality shows, weight loss shows, movies...  I also did some more laundry, hung out with friends, visited with family.  It was a really nice weekend - too bad we're usually moving so quickly through life that we don't realize we need to spend more time doing these things.  Maybe not all that tv watching ;) but definitely more hanging out with friends and family.

Since I failed my attempt at running on Friday, I thought i'd give it another try on Sunday evening.  In general, it went well but I wish two things would have been different:  1) I wish the golden lab wouldn't have shown up and antagonized my dog so much so that she started nipping at her.  Yes, my little cock-a-poo turned psycho on a 65 pound lab.  Gawd.  2) I wish the golden lab wouldn't have shown up and antagonized my dog so much that it took half my run to draw her attention away from the fact that the lab was not 200 feet behind us at most times, probably staring her down no doubt.  Hence, my breathing was labored throughout the whole run as I was constantly yelling at my dog to keep up with me.  Oh well, another two miles is done, come hell or high water.

Tonight i'm supposed to be running on the treadmill at the gym.  Joy.

Progress as of today: 5.5 lbs lost so far, only 14.5 lbs to go!

V on 01/10/2011:
LOL!!! @ your psycho doggie! Maybe she suffers from Napolean complex...Hey seriously it is great to talk through your anger/rage/frustrations..I too share your views on taking pride in your work and it is unfortunate that everyone doesn't share our passions! Pleas do take care and i must say I loved that speech you posted on Fb yesterday!

Maria7 on 01/10/2011:
Sounds like you've been going through a lot. Re: The job: Time to take the time to TAKE CARE OF YOU! (Cause lots of times other sure won't!) As for the 2 mile run, wow that you were able to accomplish it under that stress and I imagine your little dog felt threatened by the presence of that big dog and only did what she felt was natural to defend herself. As for running on the treadmill, I have one, too, that I sometimes walk on and I have it right by the window so at least I can see out as I walk. I've had mine probably about 12 or 13 years and it's still going good, thank the Lord! :-D

KathyBlue on 01/10/2011:
friends and family, yeee :) must have been a great weekend ;-) I liked the description of the running on Sunday, sorry it didn't work out with the dog, lol... :)

chidogs on 01/10/2011:
Hee, I have 3 little mini psychos. Most likely yours didn't like the feeling of running away from the bigger dog and wanted to stand his ground. If the big dog had been in front, likely yours would have been fine, as he'd feel he was "chasing" the other one. :) Nice run though, good for you, despite the doggie distraction.

Umpqua on 01/10/2011:
I hate when people let their dogs run around like that and bug others - not cool. Glad you got in a nice run anyway though!

sweetpea1977 on 01/10/2011:
Your work plan sounds like a good one to me. I agree with your friend that you and your health comes first. Hopefully your employer will notice this soon and remedy the situation for you.

just42day on 01/10/2011:
Glad you have a plan for work; overdoing it never seems to benefit the person doing all the overdoing ! Hope you have a nice run today. :)

moogy on 01/10/2011:
I am so pleased that you have a plan to lessen your work load. I am also glad that you slowed down and enjoyed your family. Who knew who had such a tough dog!!! LOL

Sofia on 01/10/2011:
Your friend is totally right. I live by the idea of balance, balancing diet and exercise, work and play etc. When you have too much of one thing, such as work, it throws you off and effects every part of your life. Take some "me" time, you deserve it. :)

Bollywood_Diva on 01/10/2011:
Wow.. that must have been quite a run :) Its fantastic to have some "me" time and watching telly is totally essential to maintain sanity of self :P

Thanks everyone for your support in my work drama; I appreciate all the suggestions in regards to extra pay and will follow up with my supervisor next week. Sometimes though, I just want to vent without actually doing anything about it ;)

Holy Boot Camp Batman. I really like making this phrase my own. I'm pretty sure there is not ONE single muscle in my body that is not hurting right now. I was scared to get out of bed this morning. My left calf is totally screaming at me even now, you can't make me do this! you can't! And when I took a bath (just thinking about having to stand in the shower for ten minutes made me cry), I couldn't even rest my neck against the back of the tub because it hurt.

I think I might be slightly  insane today, as after my bath I layered up and went outside thinking I could run. Ha. That was a reality check biting me in the butt. Dog and I ended up going for a walk that consisted of 30 second spurts of running followed by 30 second spurts of insane giggling and Dog looking at me like she would rather take herself for a walk than have me around.

And now I am on the couch with a heavy blanket over my legs, eating my breakfast of a bagel and coffee, and watching "The Last 10 Pounds". Even Dog is out for the count. What a day :)

Warning: long entry...

So I hit a bit of a wall yesterday afternoon. A brick one, with absolutely NO bewelled bits on it whatsoever. I even had to leave the building (goodbye Elvis) and make like I had to run an errand just to get out of people's line of vision 'cause I thought I might lose it.

To bring everyone up to speed - I moved into a new position at the beginning of the month. My old position has not yet been replaced, so currently I am doing the work of both positions. This is primarily why I haven't posted any pics recently; as my eyes would be crossed and my hair sticking up all over the place like I just stuck my finger in a light socket. D'ya think that would give a person more energy?

So yesterday I was told that I might have to cover both positions for at least another month, that it looked like the person they offered the position to wasn't going to accept it and that it might have to go outside the region (a.k.a. go to someone who didn't already work for the region - believe me, this makes more work in regards to training). One of my supervisors said "oh well" and I just looked at her like, really? oh well? it's not your a$$ that's getting all busted up in here trying to do the work of eighteen people. Ok, I exaggerated right there. I was in shock - this meant that not only would I have to cover both positions for another month, I would probably have to cover both positions for another three or four months after that until the person got used to the routines. All said, I shed a tear and that's why I had to get the heck outta there.

Right after work I was determined to go to the gym and run my little heart out. I was still upset and needed an obscene amount of sweat running off of me to make me feel better. But when I got to the gym, there wasn't even a place to park. Damn New Year's Resolution People!!! Now what?! (aside: i'm not really damning them, it's only a figure of speech. i give them kudos and hugs and high-fives and slaps on the back). I burned fuel getting back home, picked up the dog and headed out to the park to run outside.

I had told running buddy right after the last outdoor run that I would never run outside again until the snow melted. I don't know what came over me, but there I was, leashing the dog and getting ready for a two mile run. And during the moments where I felt like stopping, I thought to myself: 'self, let it out. this is why you came here. get pissed off. get angry. and run.'

The rest of my evening was quiet and relaxing. I've taken tomorrow off work so that I don't go nuts on a co-worker, so I know I only have to get through today.

And you know what else is good about today? First day of BOOT CAMP, baby!!!

Progress as of today: 5.5 lbs lost so far, only 14.5 lbs to go!

V on 01/06/2011:
I hear you loud and clear on the overcrowded gyms and it is only a matter of time til they all forge about their resolutions, have you read my entries this week about the gym, well i know hoping for health and HOP has mentioned it as well...i think we should start a fight club! :P First person you should fight, that bit** supervisor of yours, LOL HAha! Love you!

V on 01/06/2011:
I love that song too! Well you have to watch that movie, it is on lifetime and afterwards they did a little documentary about the killer and he was such a normal looking all American looking dude, but then again most of the serial killers are clean cut for the most part...

KathyBlue on 01/06/2011:
Funny/Sad, I've noticed the same thing - too many new faces at the gym. LOL... too many people for my taste. Most of them will give up by mid-February, don't worry... I'm only worried because of my Pilates and hydro classes, I don't want them overcrowded... Funny/Sad (again) how some people cannot find a decent job (j4td) and how other people give the luxury of "rejecting" a proposal. OK, I'm saying this without deeper knowledge of the subject, but it seems unfair!

Umpqua on 01/06/2011:
That really sucks about your job, but great job on the running! LOL at V's Fight Club suggestion, except if it was a true fight club we'd be beating ourselves up and that's no good.

Kinect is a sensor for the XBOX 360. It's similar to the Wii, except you don't need a controller, you just jump around and play the games and it picks up your movements on camera. It's really neat, I like it even more than the Wii. Kick some butt today!

loveray on 01/06/2011:
have you asked your employer about compensation for doing both roles? maybe this could turn into a monetary gain for you as well as some good things to add to your resume. that was one thing that really pissed me off about my last company - they dumped things on people without asking and without handing over some compensation. people need to be treated like assets, not asses. i hope you have a wonderful day!

chidogs on 01/06/2011:
Don't get me started on extra work for no pay. I did half my supervisor's job as well as my own (and I had production goals to meet), and got nothing extra for it! Except major burn out. I would make a stab at getting compensation. They are saving money at your expense by not hiring someone in that position, especially if you are doing a good job of juggling both positions. Don't let them expect you to be super employee! Take care of yourself, and "hugs"

sweetpea1977 on 01/06/2011:
Oh wow, that blows!! I agree with loveray's suggestion regarding compensation for both positions. That is a lot of work for one person, so if they hear you ask for more money, perhaps they can at least split up that position's responsibilities among you and the rest of your co-workers.

Good for you on running your little heart out. So happy that your day ended on a relaxing note!

moogy on 01/06/2011:
Give me your employers phone number and I will give them a reality check big style!!!!! But you know you did really well running that anger out instead of eating. I was really impressed that you were not defeated in your goal by the temporary gym people and got out in the snow. I am relieved that you didn't slip. I know life is tough right now, maybe you need to have a sit down and a reality check with your employer about how much you can really do and most definitely point out what you cannot do. Maybe you could suggest another employee to help you with some of the responsibilities of your old job!!! Good luck:)

I skipped my shred workout yesterday. I'd been running around in heels all day long at work, and my feet were killing me last night! I preferred instead to make myself a wonderful dinner of brown rice and chili (so yummy) and relax for the evening. Today i've got the ballet slippers on, so I should be able to get some kind of exercise in ;) the plan is to head to the gym right after work and get a 1 mile run in. But maybe i'll do that interval stuff I did on Monday night since it was so much fun.

So busy still at work, but I managed to box up the christmas tree and decorations. They were starting to make me feel grumpy for some reason... but then, maybe it wasn't the decorations, just the realization that my days off for the holidays are now over ;)

Have a great day everyone!

Progress as of today: 5.5 lbs lost so far, only 14.5 lbs to go!

i like how you insist that i should have more fun like i did on NYE! haha. thanks.

brown rice and chilli does sounds really REALLY REALLY filling and good. i must have this soon.

i also tend to dislike wearing any kind of fancy heal or shoe to work because sometimes it really is painful to workout afterwards. i totally understand.

Umpqua on 01/05/2011:
The ballet slippers are on, you must have done laundry ;) Have a good one!

moogy on 01/05/2011:
I think that you did well to keep the decorations up for so long, that would have driven me to tears. So the year of work is ahead - that is enought to make anyone grumpy. You grump away and then go for a run - that should cheer you up!! Chin up angel!!

I swear even when you are not trying you always make me LOL!!! I am so happy that HOP has joined us again, the two of you slay me ;)

So I totally forgot to do laundry yesterday. Today I am not dressed badly per se, although i'm wearing a pink and white striped top and brown and orange striped socks. Hmmn. And actually, since I feel compelled to admit it, my grey sweater top has some fancy bejewelly things on it. Yep, that's right. Pink. Orange. Brown. Grey. Thank goodness I can hide in my office today. At least I had the sense to wear my heeled boots instead of my hippie ballet shoes since that would have added another fourteen colours to my look.

Eats for yesterday - brown rice, red pepper, celery, beef, lots of salad. I like me some repetition.

Exercise - I went to the gym thinking that i'd try to run a mile but was feeling like being creative and trying out one of the pre-set programs on the treadmill. I tried out the interval program for 15 minutes, then tried to run 1 mile. I made it only 1/2 a mile haha! then I moved back to intervals for another 10 minutes after that. It's fun running intervals - so much easier than having to run non-stop for a specific amount of time. In the end, I traversed over 2 miles, so that's cool.

Plan for today - good eats, and some shred time. Oh crap, and laundry.

Funny entry!

sweetpea1977 on 01/04/2011:
hahaha, you are so funny.

Dont forget to do your laundry!!!!

liza36 on 01/04/2011:
I'd love to see a picture of the outfit! You're too funny.

I'm no exercise expert, but I hear that doing intervals is a great workout and one can workout for less time but maximize the benefit of exercise by doing intervals. Good luck with it!

Umpqua on 01/04/2011:
You sound like a lovely burst of color in the cold, dark winter ;P Have a good one!

moogy on 01/04/2011:
Eww! I bet you are glad we are not on a live video feed. I see you have thrown laundry in as a last minute thing that needs to be done today. Ha! I hope you get everything done that you need to. Is it tougher running on the treadmill that outside? I think it is harder walking on one that outside. Have a good day legcramps.

moogy on 01/04/2011:
Well, ex's are always hard work, one way or another. I use my treadmill in the morning and find that with my ipod on I can hold on and close my eyes and just walk. Sort of somnambulant exercise!!

Nice wardrobe! Ha! Have a great day!

Glad DD's is back! Oh i've missed you so...

Crazy busy at work today, it's horrendous the amount of work that pops up after a long weekend. The beginning of 2011 is going well for me in other aspects though - I finished another 5k run on Saturday, though I froze my butt off.  You know you've got it bad when you can't see where you're going due to the obscene amount of ice forming over your eyes.  Was very glad to finish that one, and i've told running buddy that I won't be running outside again until the snow starts to thaw.  Back to the gym it is!

On Sunday the dog and I went for a 30 minute walk through the park.  What else did I do?  That's about it.  I didn't even start laundry yesterday like I usually do.  It was very nice and relaxing, but i'll have to do laundry at some point or end up looking like something the cat brought in.

Tonight I plan on going to the gym for a short run and maybe some more walking, just to keep the muscles lose.  Boy, was I ever sore yesterday from running the 5k and playing Wii Tennis on Friday night.  Having to go to the bathroom was a nightmare in itself - get off the couch (ouch), walk to the bathroom (ouch), try to sit down on the toilet (yikes), and other information that might be too much to say on here.  Moral of the story?  OUCH.

Eats for the new year have been good - brown rice, beef, lots of greens and salads.  Still trying to finish up the little bit of baking I have in the house, so a couple of treats each day is what i'm allowing myself until they're all done.

Here's to an awesome 2011 - my hope is that we all remain on the DD site, reach our goals, and continue to form and maintain some pretty sweet friendships.  Thanks to all of you who have made an impact in my life; I wouldn't be where I am without your support and encouragement!!!

hope ur having a great start to the new year

moogy on 01/03/2011:
I am easing myself back into a stricter routine with a couple of treats each day as well. I don't want to feel deprived. That run was fantastic, well done. I am so impressed by your determination with your exercise. Good for you. I hope your muscles can handle the pace!! LOL

liza36 on 01/03/2011:
I hear ya about the amount of work after being gone. I was gone for 2 weeks, so today is a bit brutal at work. Congrats on another 5K, I think that's awesome. Happy new year!

V on 01/03/2011:
