One life - a little gleam of time between two eternities. Thomas Carlyle

Today I am grateful for: solitude, a cool change, possibilities

Hello Lovely Girls, Forecast 76 and maybe a shower, it is still 75 from yesterday's heat, we have heavy cloud cover which held the heat in. I went out shopping at 7 am (woke up early again!) and it is like a sauna out there. We need a little wind to blow away some of the steam. I am expecting a wonderfully quiet weekend, the children are at their dad's and my daughter and her best friend are going to Canberra, our capital city (located in a small territory inside our state) to go to the National Art Gallery to see an art exhibition they both wanted to see. It is a display of Russian Ballet costumes from 1918 to modern day, some of them have never been seen since they were worn. Should be beautiful. So I have the house to myself for a whole two days!! Yay!!

I checked my scale and it is weighing correctly. Weighed myself this morning and no change. TOM has arrived so I have my fingers crossed that it is just water retention, surely I must have lost something after a really good week. I am however, not concerned, I plan on continuing to plug along with my 'eating like a normal person'.  I have nothing but a little cleaning planned for today, my lower back is a little painful at the moment, and hauling all the groceries up the stairs hasn't help it any. I will steer clear of the treadmill today and hop on tomorrow. I hope you finish your work week well and that you stay warm and safe. Love you girls.

Yesterday's Food

2 boiled eggs, 2 toast, marg            494

macaroni and cheese, 1/2 cup peas    453

lemon cheesecake     280

             total   1227

Progress as of today: 26.4 lbs lost so far, only 59.9 lbs to go!

Enjoying your cool breeze...how nice! :-) Hope you're having a nice Saturday and enjoying having some solitude in having the house to yourself for 2 days. :-)

V on 02/11/2011:
Alone time huh??? I bet you are one happy girl :) But what will you do with yourself???Have a Moogy Bash!! Maybe a facial, pedicure, turn up the music really loud, stay up too late!!! Sounds fun right? Love you have a wonderful day ;)

hopingforhealth on 02/11/2011:
Oh wow, that exhibit sounds so cool! I want to go see it too :) Enjoy the solitude this weekend. Sometimes that is just so so nice to have.

I think you have been doing great. Hopefully it's just water, but either way, if you just keep on keepin' on, it's sure to drop away. :)

The casserole was delicious! I posted a link on my entry if you want to check it out :)

Umpqua on 02/11/2011:
I hope you are enjoying your peace and quiet. Yummy mac and cheese! Have a good one Moogy :)

shadetree on 02/11/2011:
What I wouldn't give for alone time!!! I usually take a solo vacation once a year, and I am overdue!!!! Hope the steaminess breaks and you can enjoy the cooler weather!

biscottibody59 on 02/11/2011:
Hey, thanks for the comment.

Looks like you're all systems go with the band and other things--good going! Enjoy your solitude--weeeeeeee!

Interesting weather you're having! We had another bout of ice/sleet/snow on Tuesday morning, but despite the freezing temps, the sun came out and cleared the streets of the mayhem fairly quickly. It finally got above freezing yesterday and will be in the 70sF most of next week.

sweetpea1977 on 02/11/2011:
Yay for peace and quiet. It would be nice if I could get some...either up in the mountains or on a secluded beach!

Enjoy the cooler temps while they last! :)

biscottibody59 on 02/11/2011:
RYC: Thanks for your concern, but for the time being I'm eating a huge array of food--some not so healthy. I'm sure I'm getting plenty of protein.

lifestylechange on 02/11/2011:
Hope you get some good rest while it's not so hot.... :))) Thanks for your comments, as always, they are aso appreciated... HUGS to you! Have a lovely weekend...

UPDATE: Just back from my appointment 11.30am Friday, the doctor was really pleased with my progress, according to his records I have lost about 10lbs in two months. It doesn't seem to go along with my records here and my graph on the side, but I certainly wasn't going to argue to point with him as they have an all singing and dancing set of scales there. He like me was more pleased with the mental process and change in attitude and feelings about the whole food/diet issue. He even gave me a kiss on the cheek to say goodbye, lovely man! So I have to double up on my Vitamin D (this is because I am a hermit or vampire and never go out in the sun), plus I think it has really helped with my mental illness (as he promised it would, it is as if thoughts are passing through my brain quicker and easier - if that makes any sense to you). Cholesterol was up a bit, but hey! I don't eat red meat, dairy (except skim milk) and there isn't anything in my diet to change to help that and I don't really care. So all in all all my other blood work was in good shape and I see him again in two months time. We are leaving the band alone, figuring that if it is doing anything it's good, if not, I am still losing weight. That's it for the update, it's a two thumbs up!!

Surely there is something in the unruffled calm of nature that overawes our little anxieties and doubts; the sight of the deep-blue sky and the clustering stars above seems to impart a quiet to the mind. Johnathan Edwards

Today I am grateful for: the stillness of early morning, the night sky, night birds calls

Hello Lovely Girls, Forecast 93 degrees. Another hot one, but then a cooler change!! Yay! Well, it is 5.30 am on Friday morning and apparently I am not going back to sleep. I thought I might as well do my entry now as I have to go out early this morning. My daughter is driving me to the hospital where I had my lapband op for a check up, you know, how is everything going, have I lost any weight, do I need anymore fluid. That sort of thing. The doctor is delightful and perfect for his job. I think I have been doing OK with my eating etc. and now that I am exercising I really think that I should start to see some poundage coming off. I really don't want to have any more fluid as I am already restricted in what I can eat, can't eat red meat, a whole sandwich, dry food. I don't want to have to give anything else up and start to get panicky about the whole thing again. That is what did me in last time. I am not sure how much help the band is at the moment, I do have to eat slowly and I do have small meals, but I think that that is just me. I can eat a lot of food if I want, like at Christmas or when I got Chinese a couple of weeks ago. So I don't know if it is stopping me, more like having a little rein on me psychologically. I shall see what the doc says.

Anyway, I had a pretty good day yesterday, I have been trying to keep my cals low over the past few days. Trying to make up for my partay!! from a few days ago. I have to weigh in at the clinic, of course, so fingers crossed that I will have lost. Apart from going half way across Sydney today I just have my usual round of cleaning and grandchildren to feed and bathe. I am a very lucky nana to have my precious babies downstairs, not really living with me, but within cuddling distance. The princess is loving being at big school, but I think her favourite bit is having afternoon tea with the big boys, she had her first spider (ice cream and soda -passion fruit yesterday)yesterday and was a little nervous, but asked for another after she had tentatively sucked throw her first little one. The big boys of course, just suck theirs back, it was a hot afternoon. Well, that is it for this morning, I can see that the sky is just changing from it's blackness as dawn approaches. Have a wonderful day girls!!

sweetpea1977 on 02/10/2011:
hahaha, Wouldnt it be nice if he surprised me with a new laptop on Valentine's Day. Man, I would love that! Dont think it will be possible though, due to our money situation. The second best scenario would be to get one for Mother's Day. Worse case scenerio...waiting to get one for my birthday (November) or Christmas. Hopefully, its a simple fix. I will post an update on the crisis by bedtime tonight (about 5-7 hours from now).

Anyway, I look forward to hearing what your doctor has to say about your lapband, diet, and exercise. Hope its all good news!

Umpqua on 02/10/2011:
I couldn't find your entry because you did it so early! I hope all goes well with your check-in at the doc and have a great day!

hopingforhealth on 02/10/2011:
I hope the doc appointment goes well! It seems like the lap band is going much better for you this time, for sure. Also, I am jealous of the princess's spider... that sounds like a delicious combo!

Great job Moogy!!! Love you!

V on 02/10/2011:
LOL! I like the ct of your daughter's gib! You tell her that making people disappear is my specialty ;) We shall rid the world of evil doers! LOL I thought you would at least watched the movie because of the sexy duo Pitt/Norton ;) Yummy!!

sweetpea1977 on 02/10/2011:
Sounds like good news all around. 10 pounds on the doctor's scale sounds good. Makes me wonder if your scale is off since you havent been able to celebrate a loss on your scale for a while. Do you use a battery operated one? If so, the battery may need replace. Another thing that can affect your home weigh ins is the surface of the floor it sits on. A hard surface is more ideal over carpet/rug.

Overall, it sounds like you're making great progress, so keep up the good calorie intake and treadmill!! So happy for you moogy!!

Runforfun on 02/10/2011:
Have a great night, Moogy!! :)

lifestylechange on 02/10/2011:
Awesome!! Great news from the doc! :) Vitamin D is vital and I would recommend that everyone take it... I found a good multivitamin that has 500 IU of Vitamin D in it! I love it!! :) Especially where I live it's winter like 9 months of the year so not much vitamin D for me either... HUGS to you!! Enjoy your Friday... I can't wait for my Friday to get here and it to be 3pm! haha LOVES

Umpqua on 02/10/2011:
That's great news! My doctor's scale is usually higher than mine at home, so I agree with Sweetpea that maybe your home scale is off. Hope you have a wonderful rest of day!

sweetpea1977 on 02/10/2011:
no problem!! I check my scale every now and then with a 10 lb dumbbell, to make sure its weighing accurately. Dorky, I know, but it gives me a piece of mine when I know for a fact that it is weighing properly. :)

Oh, Im feeling better after drinking a ton of water this afternoon. I guess I was just dehydrated! :)

newme24 on 02/10/2011:
Thanks for your sweet comment, moogy! You always know just what to say :) That's great news from the doctor, congrats!! He sounds really nice and supportive. Have a great night!!

Our future happiness depends on the choices we make today.    Sherone O'Neil

Today I am grateful for: clouds, the freedom the make choices, being in control

Hello Lovely Girls, Forecast 86 degrees. It is a cool, cloudy lovely morning here in Sydney, it will be warm this afternoon, but nothing the air conditioner can't handle. I have been feeling a little contemplative this morning. I have been thinking about how much I have learned since I became a member of DD's a few months ago. I may not have lost a lot of weight but I have learned so much. It is as if all the things that I have read and been told have slowly filtered through my somewhat cotton woolly brain and I have had a light bulb moment. It all came into focus after I read an article biscottibody posted in the forum entitled  It's So Hard To Say Goodbye. It allowed me to gather together all the things that had been floating around in my mind. Previously when I planned on starting a diet, the previous day I would buy enormous amounts of chocolate every things and just eat until I was stuffed. The following day I would 'start the diet', and then of course, when 'I failed' I would collapse in a screaming heap and eat out of control for two weeks before starting the whole process again.

It is not that I have learned anything new, it is like being in a focused place (in DD's and my mind), posting and reading day after day has allowed all those things I already new have become a reality. I don't have to be 'on a diet' or 'out of control', I can have my around 1400 cals a day and include treats, occasionally have a day off and I am still OK. I can just keep eating sensibly and healthily. I now believe I can do this, I trust myself. I am no longer being held hostage to food. I am in control. I feel free of anxiety about food/dieting. I am OK. I don't think I could have reach this state of understanding without this site and without my team of regular diary readers who offer their support, encouragement, gentle nagging, understanding and love. I am reinvigorated and renewed, looking forward to the next few months. I may fall on my face, but that is alright, I can just get up and carry on. Love you girls, have a wonderful day.

Exercise: peak heart 149 a little higher than previously due to having to sing along with Mick Jagger and Noel Gallagher!! Hey! I am walking and singing Yay!

Yesterday's Food

basa fillet, honeyed carrots, 1/2 cup peas   385

lemon cheesecake 280

hot chocolate, 1/2 mini tortilla wrap, 1/2T peanut butter   98

                total 1111

Progress as of today: 26.4 lbs lost so far, only 59.9 lbs to go!

lifestylechange on 02/09/2011:
Thanks Moogy! It's about time the scale cooperates, LOL... honeyed carrots...yum, those sound good!! :) HUGS to you!

Umpqua on 02/09/2011:
That's great that you are feeling focused and optimistic about this whole process. It's so important. You are doing so great with the treadmill, yay!

V on 02/09/2011:
Great post Moogy! What a wonderful way to start your day :) Love You!

getmebackto150 on 02/09/2011:
what a great post!!! I agree... being on diet diaries and all of the wonderful support has gotten me out of the exact cycle that you described above... Learning that nothing is "forbidden" and this is a lifestyle is ENORMOUS!!! You are doing so great with your treadmill and a heart rate of 149 is definitely burning LOTS of calories!!! Have a good one!

hopingforhealth on 02/09/2011:
This is such a great post. Even though I am struggling to keep on track right now, I also feel like I have learned so much while trying to change, and even when I doing badly, I am worlds healthier than I was. Thanks so much for sharing with us. :)

sweetpea1977 on 02/09/2011:
Wow, what a great entry moogy!! Love it!! :) I agree with you too, nothing should be forbidden as this is a lifestyle change and not a diet (I HATE THAT WORD!!). In other words, moderation is the secret to success! :)

Great job with the heartrate and exercise. "GO MOOGY GO!" says the barefoot and pregnant cheerleader. ;)

V on 02/09/2011:
LOL!!! I would be quite the sight! Okay just for you in the very near future I will wear and take a pic for you, only if you send me a pic of YOU!!! It's not fair you have a face to put to the words and I don't :( that was a pout btw! LOL

shadetree on 02/09/2011:
It was such a peaceful feeling when I finally understood that it's not a game to be won or lost but a lifestyle(despite the occasional barefoot and pregnant cheerleader ;) One day at a time, taking the time to occasionally enjoy the brownies, cheesecake, or whatever, without the guilt but just the understanding that there is a tradeoff to be made. And finally taking control instead of letting it control us...

nita51 on 02/09/2011:
Love this entry! I think without DD's, I may have been seriously ill or maybe even on my way out of here by now. DD's has raised my awareness of how important it is, to continue fighting for good health. I'm grateful to be a part of this atmosphere of positive people, all striving to lose deadly fat, and become healthier & happier people. Keep doing well my friend, and thanks for your uplifting words. xoxo

nita51 on 02/09/2011:
Just read your message. The outer shell is salty. I LOVE the Frito Lay brand. It seems to be less salty. You're right. We have a Sprouts and Trader Joe's health food store out here, I'll see if they have the salt less ones. What are you snacking on these days?, other than the peanut butter and celery? :) I only like cooked celery. I've run out of ideas. Take Care

KathyBlue on 02/10/2011:
LOL, I normally listen to Army of Lovers, Scatman John, John the Whistler, etc. :)))

legcramps on 02/10/2011:
Gotta love those "A-ha" moments, right?! I think you're absolutely right - the more we post and read here and on fb and read other healthy eating and exercise blogs, the more we ourselves move forward into the same mindset. I think one day we'll stop and say "Oh! I've changed. I didn't realize..." because of all the little changes we're making now :)

Singing and walking on the treadmill - and with Mick Jagger to boot? Awesome!

Maria7 on 02/10/2011:
Thank you for checking in on me. Yep, doing okay. Looks like you are, too. Good on the food not controlling us. Oh, the temptations...they'll always be there but that doesn't mean we have to give in or even listen...there are so many other postitive things we can do. Have a nice Friday. Love, Maria :-)

selina on 02/10/2011:
Hi Moogie, great entry! I enjoyed reading it!

I haven't seen my sister for over one year, since our Dad's funeral. She was so close to me when growing up (she is only 3 years younger than I am) and she is so much like my daughther in looks, height (they are both tall and slim) and character (calm, always cool, mature). We had a great time growing up together, sharing secrets, chatting away until 3 - 4 in the morning when we should be sleeping, haha! Sometimes I feel I'm going insane when I see my younger sister in my daughter! We don't get together too often because we live so far away from each other and she is so busy (she is in charge of nearly 300 people they employ in their manufacturing plant, aside from being a mom of 3 teenage boys) but she always makes a point in visiting me whenever she can...

newme24 on 02/10/2011:
It's so true that you don't have to be on a "diet" to reach your ideal number of calories... we really can have the things we want in moderation. I'm so glad you are feeling so confident, because you should. Really, we all should. We're all here because we're serious and we're learning how to change our lifestyle. And having everyone here for support makes it SO MUCH BETTER!! Have a great day!

Life is a tragedy for those who feel, and a comedy for those who think.  La Bruyere

Today I am grateful for: understanding myself, being content, cherishing simple pleasures

Hello Lovely Girls, Forecast 81 degrees. It was the princesses sleep over night last night so this morning I am feeling a little flat and in need of a nap. She is a delightful child with unruly legs. I am planning on getting on the treadmill in a little while after I have had a warm drink and a small breakfast. Hoping that that will wake me up and make me feel a little more human. I had a pretty good day yesterday and have a similar day planned for today. I am however, still at my posted weight. Something has to give soon surely!! I am pretty sure TOM is imminent so maybe that is the problem, we shall see. I will just keep on doing what I am doing. My quote for today is another of those quotes that sums up my life, as a thinking, feeling person I find that balancing on that fine line between tragedy and comedy is a feat worthy of acknowledgement - it is all a paradox. We flit between distress and joy all the time, part of the human condition. I hope that you girls have a wonderful day, with splashes of joy and little if any distress!!.

Yesterday's Food

weetbix, hot milk, sugar           300 (this was eaten at 2 am in the morning on Tuesday, I couldn't sleep because of tummy rumbles)

sweetpea1977 on 02/08/2011:

TOM definitely screws up weigh ins. Just keep plodding along with your good calorie range and treadmill workouts and you should see some movement this time next week!

lifestylechange on 02/08/2011:
Mmmmm, toasted ham & tomato... & yummo to that pumpkin pie shake... I need to make one again soon! :0) Thanks for the comment.... Have a wonderful day love!

chidogs on 02/08/2011:
Your menu does sound tasty! Hee, yes I keep a couple of cans of good old V8 in the fridge for those days when the veggies are scarce. :) Oh, and by veggie police policy, does a tomato count as a veggie? I use canned tomatoes a lot!

chidogs on 02/08/2011:
So tomatoes are fruit not veggie. I always get mixed up on that one. I grow my own all summer and eat them up daily! But winter I use mostly canned.

V on 02/08/2011:
Your workouts are gonna rev up the metabolisim! No worries Moogy! You will see a loss very soon!! Oh and I hope you enjoy your day :) Love you <3

getmebackto150 on 02/08/2011:
Don't get frustrated at being stuck... you will see a loss all of the sudden... especially if you do the treadmill!! Have a great day moogy!

selina on 02/08/2011:
Sounds like you are having a great day! Yay! Husband is safe and sound, across the Atlantic, and has called a couple of times to see how we are doing. Says that he is too busy to see his doctor... Thanks for asking ;)

V on 02/08/2011:
Oh i was meaning to respond to your comment about the weather. it is funny because in the winter here, we can pretty much expect the same weather as Sweetpea and Loveray here a few days after them,it slowly works it's way down Geevee's way and they have their fair share of cooler temps but not as drastic as the ones who live on in the panhandle..Hurricane season is reversed since alot of storms come via carribean, or the cost of Africa. It is pretty amazing how nature works :)

V on 02/08/2011:
What a lovely idea...LOL! I really am a bit weather obsessed now and it is also interesting to learn the tide charts too! The weather guys here at the local station Bay News Nine are supposed to be the best in the nation, not to mention the hi-tech Klystron doppler radar! Uh oh! I my nerdier side is coming out! LOL

newme24 on 02/08/2011:
That is a great quote!! Your menu looks wonderful... it always looks delicious! I'm sure you'll see the numbers on the scale drop soon, you've been doing so well with the diet and on the treadmill!! Have a wonderful day :)

chubbygirl on 02/09/2011:
great weight loss inspiration quotes, and your blog is so easy to read. I'll enjoy reading your blog from now on!

legcramps on 02/09/2011:

I have spread my dreams beneath your feet. Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.W.B. Yeats

Today I am grateful for: a gentle morning, patience, dreams

Hello Lovely Girls, Forecast 82 degrees. It is a lovely morning, and while it is going to get warm later this afternoon, I will take this over last week any day (well! during summer anyway!). I had a funny night's sleep, disturbed at 1am by two cats disputing whom had right of way over our front lawn, followed by several dreams that woke me up, each sad and about past loss in my life. Hence, my quote for the day, which is one of my favourite ones of all time. So often my hopes and dreams have been trampled and yet my patience will win in the end, my hopes and dreams are stronger than the weakness of others.

I have a new rhythm to my life with the start of the school year, most mornings (weather permitting) I will be on the treadmill, then later in the morning the angel comes up for a daily visit with nana (everyone has moved up a slot in the pecking order), then afternoon tea with the big boys and the princess. It was her first afternoon tea yesterday and she couldn't stop grinning, so cute!! I am still catching up on my cleaning, having done none last week. So I have a little baking, a little cleaning and a little cuddling to do today. Not too bad!! Have a lovely day girls!

Enjoy your week!

chidogs on 02/07/2011:
Yes, I think he tried to explain that to me once and my eyes glazed over so he quit. :) I love your new routine. When I spent time in England (loooong ago), we thought afternoon tea was the best tradition in the world!

Umpqua on 02/07/2011:
Excellent job getting on the treadmill. Have a good one!!

Supercheese on 02/07/2011:
Man you're temperature sounds amazing right now....its freezing here!

hopingforhealth on 02/07/2011:
What a lovely quote! I haven't heard it before, but I like it. I'm glad the princess enjoyed her first tea. Catching up below: sorry to read about your record heat below... I know how much you love that! And I am so glad to hear your daughter is doing better!

selina on 02/07/2011:
Enjoy your day, Moogie, what a treat to have tea with your grandchildren - something for me to look forward to when I become a grandma. In a couple of decades, maybe...

I had awful dreams last night due to tv shows I watched before going to bed - I'd rather dream about cats, haha!

V on 02/07/2011:
Aww Moogy! I am sure the princess is pleased as punch to patricipate in such an adult ritual! Hey great job on the treadmill as well :)

sweetpea1977 on 02/07/2011:
Yay for cooler temps!!

BTW, I love your new routine! Thats great you are planning to start off each day with the treadmill. There is nothing better than to start the day off with exercise. Oh, and Im super happy you're tracking your heart rate too. You rock moogy!!

How cute, the princesses first tea!! :)

Enjoy your day!!

V on 02/07/2011:
Hey I should have known that curly wurlys involved chocolate, I though it might have been something similar to cheetos but now it makes sense because you are not really a chip eater! so duhh to me :)

liza36 on 02/07/2011:
Thank goodness for cooler temps than last week.

I appreciate your comment about patience. Patience and enduring to the end are true virtues in this life amidst disappointments and crushing dreams.

What wonderful opportunities you have to spend time with your grandchildren. I would relish "cuddle time".

V on 02/07/2011:
The wings are easy to make, there is the healthier choice bake in the oven unbreaded or the not so healthy wings that you season with whatever spices you fancy, put them in a bag of seasoned flour to coat, fry and pour sauce on and bake for 15 minutes..I mix bbq and buffalo sauce(hot sauce)Use more buffalo if you like it hot :P

V on 02/08/2011:
yes the unhealthier version is a tad bit high in everything to say the least! LOL Yes after the deep fry, coat them with the sauce and then bake them...I don't need to tell you to take the wings out of the fryer first ?Or do I??? LOL I think I might have created a Moogy wing monster...There are alot of recipes out there for buffalo sauce, a traditional one is usually served with blue cheese dressing and celery sticks....If you strike it rich over there when you perfect your own, don't forget you Florida pal ;) LOL Love you!

legcramps on 02/08/2011:
Oh my goodness, I just looked at what a curly wurly was. I'm glad i'm as far away from that as possible WOW it looks totally delicious!

Sounds like it's going to be an awesome day, even though the night wasn't the best with the dreaming. I guess life catches up with us sometimes in our dreams.

Have a great day today moogy!

Today I am grateful for: a wonderful cool change, sleeping in my comfy bed, gentle weather

Hello Lovely Girls, Forecast 77 lovely degrees, whew!! That was some ordeal, we broke records all over the place last week, that cyclone actually travelled right to the centre of Australia. So that is like Katrina going to the centre of the US (we are about the same size), biggest cyclone ever recorded in Australia's history. Plus we got to break the longest hottest record (huh!!) seven days of over 95 degrees, plus it never dropped below 78 degrees each night. It might well be a record but I don't want to try and break that one again. My daughter is fine again now after the change came and she got a good night's sleep, thank you to those of you who asked about her. It is always an anxious time when she is so ill, so many things that could go wrong. But thankfully, she rested and recovered. She has to see all her specialists in a couple of weeks to see where we are up to with the kidney, liver, heart etc. She has lost quite a lot of weight so we are hoping for good results.

I just got a visit from my daughter and the angel, who is now the only child left at home. They all walked round to the school  for the princesses first full day. The eldest big boy and the princess are Team A, and the youngest big boy and the angel are Team B, so whenever we go anywhere each boy is responsible for his team mate. So anyway, the youngest boy rode to school early, something about claiming a handball court for the day (school boy protocol), Team A were holding hands and chatting to each other on the way and mom and the angel were walking a little behind. The eldest boy asked if he could take the princess and the angel to play with for a while before the music started for the start of school and so off he went and was quickly surrounded by girls wanting to play with the dollies. Bright boy that!! Mom went and collected the princess and told her she was going and asked her if she would be alright if her team mate put her in her class line for assembly. She answered "Yes, my brother loves me", so lovely!!

As for me, I am so relieved that it is cool today. I cannot tell you how difficult last week was, I don't do heat at the best of times and that was just unbelievably shattering. I was quite pleased with my eating, it could have been better but I was so anxious, overwhelmed and worried that I was just glad I didn't have a binge. I am feeling more in control of myself now, I don't seem to have the drive (if that's the right word) to eat, I seem to have relaxed a little, not so much about the eating but about the dieting. I don't feel as if I have failed if I have chocolate or as in yesterday's little splurge chocolate and a muffin (more about that later), it is about the control I feel and the freedom I have given myself to have what I want and not feel as if I need to throw myself in a heap and eat everything that isn't nailed down. I went over my calories yesterday, but I feel fine about it, it was a particular difficult day. I wanted cake, which I never want unless TOM is coming. So today I just carry on, and everything is OK. I feel like I have turned a corner, I don't have to be either 'on a diet' or 'eating all the chocolatey things in the world" I can be eating healthily most of the time with the occasional treat or even an occasional splurge and I am still OK. I don't know why it has taken me this long to figure this out, I knew it mentally but emotionally it was impossible. So yay! for breakthroughs!! I did 30 minutes on the treadmill this morning which would have been fine, I was intending to do 25 mins at a higher incline and speed which I did, come the 23 min mark when I start to cool down and Mick Jagger is telling me if I start him up he never stops, so I had to stay on and then The Who are yelling at me not to get fooled again. So I was thinking "why didn't I keep it a a lower intensity" however, I got through it, the boys finished singing to me and I was sweating like a you know what and my legs where all tingly, V, you would have been proud of me!! I hope you finish off your weekend well and enjoy yourselves. Love you girls.

Today I am grateful for: a cloudy start to the day, the promise of a cool change, being hopeful

Hello Wonderful Women, Forecast 97 degrees, with a promised cool change this afternoon!! Hopefully!! Please!! It was still 83 degrees at 10 pm last night. The children didn't sleep well and my daughter got quite ill yesterday afternoon, she had a tacky heart (irregular heartbeat) mainly bought on by the heat and lithium which she takes. She was grey so I sent her to sit in a cool bath, she was a little better after that. We are all staying home from church today, we are absolutely shattered from the heat, even the children are no longer coping. I slept on the living room floor on my makeshift set of mattresses, two big seat cushions from one lounge and one big one from the settee, not too bad. I am sitting on it now right under the air con, which didn't get turned off at all last night. I am having a 'sit in' here until the promised change actually blows in!!!!! I do realize it is a futile expression of protest but it is mine!!!!!!

I hope on the scale this morning as is my usual routine for a sneaky look before weigh in day and there in downward movement so fingers crossed it stays that way!! That is my silver lining for the day. I had a pretty good day with the food, I am really looking forward to the change in weather so that I can get back to the treadmill. Really, no kidding, I am!! Anyway, I will leave you and go and read what you have been doing while I have been asleep. Fingers crossed for a cool change girls!

You sure do have a good grasp on the bad for you American junk food! You are correct that the cheese fries are indeed fried potatoes smothered with some sort of processed cheese stuff...and I know it just would not have been pretty had I eaten them! I'm hoping things cool down for you!

I hope your daughter feels better! Oh and as far as these gams, no veircose veins on these beauts, I take really good carer on feet and legs :) As you already know! LOL Love you :) Hoping you can find some relief from the heat :)

I hope your daughter is doing better. Sounds miserable to be in such heat. Hope you hang in there, preferably somewhere in the shade!

Maria7 on 02/05/2011:
Well, with the heat being what it is over there, it probably won't be much longer and it will start to cool down and soon be autumn! What day is y'all's autumn? Is it March 21st when we begin our spring? So happy for you that you are seeing progress on the scale. It's hard not to give in to temptation but it sure does pay off well. Baby steps...they ALLLLL count! They ALLLLLL add up in getting you to your goal. Even if we give in to temptation, if we don't 'throw in the towel' for the day and REALLY overdo it, that is a baby step that will pay off, too! :-D

sleepy on 02/06/2011:
I am sorry to hear about your daughter. This weather is getting the better of us. We have the opposite problem here in Chicago, blizzard and now 15 below 0 temps.

biscottibody59 on 02/06/2011:
Hope you got your cool change and that your daughter's feeling better. And I hope you're feeling all right--the ripple effects and all.

Your mention of "cool change" reminded me immediately of the Little River Band song. I guess I hadn't heard it in zillion years, but with the miracle of the web, I found two good videos--one with all dolphins/whales plus the song and other with the original band in 2007--they sounded and looked good. I have their original album (CD) with the green cover and them on the front--I just about wore out my vinyl version back in the day.

I guess "cool change" is the same as our "blue norther" or just norther here in Texas. Cold front at any rate.

Have a good one--hope the weather breaks a little soon!

chidogs on 02/06/2011:
Sorry your daughter wasn't well, and I hope she is doing much better now. I also hope your weather has cooled down by now. Notice that I did get increased veggies on Friday! Yay me. You take care now. Cool hugs.

Today I am grateful for: clean air, fresh water, good food (so much of the world has none of these things)

Hello Lovely Girls, Forecast 106 degrees. That's it, I'm done, roasted, braised, steamed, grilled, poached and fried. In other words, stick a fork in me I'm done. Unfortunately, we have another two days of slow cooking to go before we get a break. I gave up on the bedroom again last night and slept on the living room floor. Wasn't too bad either. Roll on Monday when we should get a cool change.!! Well, I am reporting back from my early shopping trip with my daughter, didn't managed to find a toddler bed for the angel - it was already to hot to be hunting around. I intended to buy a handbag and sushi, however, I wanted a pale pink or baby blue leather handbag (not being fussy or anything. I admit to a little compulsion about handbags, I have a blanket drawer full of very nice rather expensive leather handbags. The trouble was that I had actually worn out the handle on my favouritist one, had all the right compartments, easy access, fit over my shoulder nicely, bummer!! Anyway, on the way to the handbag shop I spotted these lilac suede slingback platform shoes, well it was like they had been placed just to catch my eye, I have small but wide feet (they match the rest of me!!) so buying shoes is always tricky, however, I knew these would be perfect, and yes Cinderella, they fit perfectly, and they were half price. So with those in their nice bag off we go to the handbag shop, and disappointment, nothing, in a pretty colour, all black, brown, beige, dull dull dull. Except of course the cheap loud plastic ones which don't get a look in. Fortunately, the shop next door is our favourite big girls shop so my daughter forced me to go in and I found a fabulous long flowing top cinched in under the bust, in whites, blues and greens, had to have it! So no handbag but new shoes and top, not bad, plus I got sushi. Came home and found a beautiful pale pink tote/handbag on e-bay brand new leather, perfect, it is now paid for and on it's way to meeee!! Forgetting the stinking weather it was a good day!!

Good day on the food front as well, too hot to eat. That's the silver lining for the day!! (Well, that, my grateful list and my goodies) I just wanted to say thank you to all of you who are faithfull followers of my diary and always stop by and offer support, encouragement and good advice. I appreciate each of you and am grateful to you for your time and interest. I love you all. Thank you.

Thanks for the nice comments--I highly recommend that book to certain people. It made me realize what overeating is for my particular case, and it has insights about food that I never would have thought of.

Glad you're here moogy!

I know, low veggie count yesterday. Sometimes I lump beans in the veggie category. :) Your day sounds totally great! Nice purchases there too. Maria7 on 02/04/2011:
Regarding your yesterday's (020311) comment to me...yes, I surely do understand! :-D Currently there is chocolate ice cream, one-half pint, in the freezer in the kitchen with my name on it and it is untouched. Do I want to eat it? Ho, ho, ho! Yes and 4 times that amount easily! Am I going to have it tonite??? Nope...gonna wait til tomorrow at least. Yes, I can eat what I want but I know it's not always wise to do so so I don't allow myself to be ruled by my taste buds. It was a habit that was difficult to break as well as one I combat daily.

Your new outfit sounds really nice. So fun to order off ebay and wait in anticipation on the item's arrival! As for your little treat, that sounded good, too! :-D

Today I am grateful for: being one day closer to cool weather, sushi, electricity

Hello Lovely Girls, Forecast 99 degrees. My daughter and I are making an early dash to our favourite shopping centre, it is a matter of getting it over and done with before it gets too hot. We have a few things to get, a toddler bed for the angel (she says she is a big girl now 2 1/2 and wants a big bed like the princesses), she has a toddler bed at her dad's and actually slept there last night so dad could take her to pre-school to give us girls a bit of a head start. We have to be back by noon to pick the princess up from school. Her last half day, next week full days. Yay!! They are promising us a few days of cooler weather next week, they had better deliver or they may be mobbed by angry sweaty people!!

I had a pretty good day yesterday, marred only by a late night battle with two curly wurlys, it was late and had the drug munchies. I was quite pleased actually that I stopped myself from eating anything else and counted calories before I choose to eat them. I think I am making little steps here. Anyway, I hope you all have a good day, stay safe and warm. Love you.

Those shoes sound cute! Every girl needs to treat themselves to some retail therapy every now and then, so Im glad you got some in. :)

lol, I need some kind of order to my massive collection of coupons. Its hard to find what Im looking for so putting them in alphabetical order makes them so much easier to find.

We will have our cell phones and I *might* bring my laptop to the hospital for updates (depends on how much other stuff we end up bringing with us). At the very least, I will try to post an announcement on here and on FB right before I leave for the hospital so that you ladies dont worry about me! :)

It's snowing right now--makes the cold worthwhile--looks like we'll get at least 3 or 4 inches! We never get enough just plain snow, so I'm pleased:-)

Hey, those little steps add up--anytime you can stop yourself is a victory--I had a tough time doing that while staring at the four walls yesterday. Today was infinitely better.

Have a good day there & keep up the good work!

Plus I made a white chocolate macadamia nut cheesecake to bring with me for her dinner party tomorrow. Yikes! Have a great weekend Moogy!

thisisit on 02/04/2011:
Moogy, I've thought about weighing only once a week. And I used to do that. But that doesn't keep me accountable on a day to day basis so I wind up losing less and so on. I think I will just set a day of the week on which I will record my weight and only take that one in consideration. This should make me do something like the Last Chance Workout they have on Biggest Loser. That way maybe I will work out harder at least one time a week and have normal work outs the rest of the time. :)

newme24 on 02/04/2011:
Awww she's a little lady now with her toddler bed. She sounds so adorable!! I'm with shadetree, I googled curly wurlys too, haha. 250 calories isn't bad at all for a late night snack battle. Today I am grateful for: a cloudy morning, being safe, sleeping in my bed

Hello Lovely Girls, Forecast 100 degrees. It is a slightly cooler morning, the sun is hiding behind a sky full of clouds and I am enjoying a slightly cool breeze. I will take it while I can get it. I managed to sleep in my bed last night. To tell the truth I was so sick of being in air conditioning, I was getting a headache. It was a bit borderline but I managed to get to sleep, albeit restless, with the fan on me. The huge cyclone (hurricane) has crossed the Queensland border at Cat 4 and is moving inland at Cat 3 it is going about 200 miles inland, it is huge. It is a long way from us but we do know people who live up there. We usually get about 4 tropical cyclones each season, more up in the Northern Territory, usually people take them as a matter of course and we enjoy the clouds and rain that slide down the coast. This one however has done heaps of damage, quite a lot of it to the homes of the people who where flooded out a couple of weeks ago. I don't know how they keep going, first flooded out then blown to bits. Australian's are tough, we live in a harsh country, beautiful but harsh and we are work together to help which ever bit of us is receiving the current hit from nature, be it fire, flood or famine, you can guarantee we have one of them at any time. The charity warehouses are so full they are not accepting any more donations, there are teams of tradesmen going up for a few days at a time, in their own time to help rebuild and we have a really good volunteer and government infrastructure to rebuild. So it will be tough for a while but recovery will be achieved as quickly as possible.

Anyway, back to me!!! I had another day sitting in front of the air conditioner doing not much. I did however, have the urge to clean out my huge pantry which is in the walk through at the top of the stairs. Sweeptpea, you would be proud of me, everything is lined up and in place, I have a few things to buy but I am ready for the Zombie Apocalypse now!! I was really sweating when I had finished, so that was the exercise for the day, lots of bending and stretching!! It was a pretty good food day, not exactly what I wanted but I did the best I could in the heat. Have a wonderful day girls, stay safe and keep warm. Love you girls.

LOL @ your "Zombie Apocolypse" comment hahaha My husband always says that whenever he thinks I'm stocking up on too many canned goods and non perishables LOL. Anyway, glad to hear you are having a bit lower temps today...yay for breeze! It is actually nice (warm) here where I am so looks like I sent you some cool air and you sent me some warmth ;) Have a great one!

hollybelle on 02/02/2011:
Geez those temps look so strange! Freezing my ---- off here! But not as bad as other places in the US. We have been lucky so far. Sorry for the cyclones, though. Scary. We get tornados in our state and for that reason we have a house with basement. A 70 foot tree fell and hit my house about 2.5 years ago. It was a mess - but no injuries and everything was insured - thank God. LOL at the Zombie Apocolypse reference!

Umpqua on 02/02/2011:
I am glad that you and your family are in a safe area, and I hope that your friends north of you get through this cyclone OK. Thanks for your nice comments, I'm trying to be cheerful today. I'm definitely drinking a lot of water (even more so yesterday and today than usual). Sweetpea mentioned it could be another TOM and I told her I'm feeling really bloated and a little crampy and I bet that's what it is. Ugh, 2 months in a row? Well, I'm just going to deal with it as best I can and I may have to get used to having a monthly visitor again :P Have a good one!

V on 02/02/2011:
Hiya Moogy! It sounds like you had a good burst of energy :) Hoorayyy for getting Zombie ready, I hope they don't come pay you a visit! LOL Love you ;)

V on 02/02/2011:
I just got them :) I had to put dinner in the oven but i will go now and take a look :) Oh goody! Back in a few :)

lifestylechange on 02/02/2011:
It's -18 degrees here....brrrr! so 100 degrees sounds very hot!! :) Total different sides of the hot/cold spectrum for us! hehe

hopingforhealth on 02/02/2011:
Man oh man, storms everywhere! You with the heat and everyone else with the cold! I'm glad you're ok... and stocked up for those zombies to boot :)

nita51 on 02/02/2011:
So glad that storm will bypass you and the family. I hope and pray that no one will be harmed by it's destruction. Happy you liked the pictures I thought they were a little dark but anyway I appreciate you taking the time to view them. Love ya Moog Oh yes, did your skin rash ever get better? I sure hope it's cleared up by now. :)

Cleaning the pantry sounds like really good exercise. Hope the heat gives you a break there. But it sounds like you have some humidity too, yech! I dislike humidity along with heat. Melting down weather. Cool hugs.

sweetpea1977 on 02/02/2011:
hahaha, I loved your comment. Thanks!

Yay for organization and clean out of your pantry. I bet it looks beautiful!! Time to start Zombie Watch 2011!! :)

V on 02/02/2011:
OMG Moogy!!! They are beautiful!!! The boys are really tall I am assuming that your daughter is tall as well :) What a good looking family Moogy :) Thank you for sharing, Oh I am really shock that you didn't "accidentally" cut dad's head out of the picture! LOL Then again you probably didn't snap it! Now the youngest seems so much shorter than her sibs! No wonder she demands attention, ya gotta when you are the youngest and shortest! LOL I betcha they take after their Nana :) Maybe one day you will send me a pic of the legendary red head bombshell ;) Love ya!!

loveray on 02/02/2011:

Hello over there...sounds like you are in the midst of summer but hopefully soon you all over there will be cooling off, with your autumn coming in. As for us over here, we are looking forward to spring (but I am definitely enjoying winter!). :-)

nita51 on 02/03/2011:
Thank you,,, you are sweeter than sweet! Because of Kathy, I'm no longer camera shy,,,after all, it is what it is. I'm a big big girl, but one day, I know this will all change for the better. You guys have made such a difference in my life. xoxo

KathyBlue on 02/03/2011:
Heat... HORRIBLE!!! :( But I can't wait to feel the spring here in Lisbon! 20-25 Celsius degs is the ideal for me :)

waydesmommy on 02/03/2011:
It is freezing here. Yesterday it rained ice. I can't wait till it warms up. I know what you mean about the rebuilding. I'm in Mississippi and was here when Katrina hit. She did a lot of damage and things just are back to normal...well sorta...not everything has come back but we have gotten some better things out of it. It's great that there are people to help. Bending and stretching is great exercise and you have a clean pantry. 2 for the price of 1...lol. Way to go!

newme24 on 02/03/2011:
I'm glad you got a slightly cooler morning! That's so great that everyone helps eachother out and makes donations. Haha good thing you're ready for the zombies lol cleaning can be great exercise. Hope you have a great day!

thisisit on 02/03/2011:
LOL nope no Uggs in court. Not allowed. I am very upset about ruining them too. They weren't cheap.

Wow, warm weather. I am so jealous. Not so jealous of the hurricane, though.

That must have been some workout, cleaning and organizing the pantry. Is it a big pantry? Have a great day!
