CHERISH LIFE'S SIMPLE PLEASURES

In the private sanctuary of one's own conscience lies that spirit, that determination to cast off the old person and to measure up to                                                                           the stature of true potential......................................Thomas S. Monson

Today I am thankful for: my health, freedom to choose, a cool day

Hello Lovely Girls, It is a chilly and overcast Spring day and I have had to turn the heater on, it's crazy two days ago I thought I would have to turn the air conditioner on. Nevertheless, I am grateful for a cool day, I shall wallow in every one of them that comes my way now. They will be few and far between, still no sign of rain, it's been about three weeks now. I have been reading the diaries and envying the rain some of you have been receiving.

I just got back from taking the princess to pre-school and my usual restock of the fruit and vegies from the shops, plus, and you will be thrilled to hear this...............and extension cord for the treadmill, yes, it has made it's way upstairs. It is still in three bits, but I am expecting that son in law will put in together this weekend. So YAY!! Bad news is that there is still no movement on the scale front, however, I wore the same skirt today as I did last Friday and I could feel that I had lost weight. I can only think that it if water retention or some strange hormone thingy. Anyway, as promised I have hunted out my WW books and measuring stuff so that I will start the dreaded counting and weighing again just to make sure I am on track.

I was asked yesterday what my goals where, it kind of set me back because apart from a goal weight  I hadn't really thought about other stuff. So I sat myself down, well, I was sitting down, but you know what I mean!! and came up with a list. Which I present to you for perusal:

MY GOALS

1. To eat a balanced diet without counting or weighing.

2. To stay on program and in control of my eating.

3. To eat like a 'normal' person including single serves of my comfort foods.

4. To enjoy exersing three to four times a week.

5. To have comfort foods in the house without them triggering me.

6. To realise that my comfort foods are always available to me if I want them.

7. To get to 80kg/176lbs as a realistic goal at this time.

8. To set realistic achievable mini goals. First , to rach 100kg/220lbs.

Have a wonderful day girls!!

DAY EIGHTEEN of being in control of my eating behaviour TWELVE TO GO

hot chocolate, porridge

prunes, almonds

spicy chicken and salad wrap

WW ginger kiss bar

turkey steak, carrots, cauliflower, peas, gravy

I will have to put the points value in as soon as I have had a rumage throught the books.

Progress as of today: 2.3 lbs lost so far, only 57.7 lbs to go!

Today I am thankful for: knowledge, patience, knowing who I am

Hello Gorgeous Girls, First day of spring and as predicted it is going to be 25c/77f, it will be a glorious day, I shall throw open my windows and let the warm air blow through the house. It was the princess's night to slept over last night, which was fine, she didn't kick the covers off me. Sweetpeas suggestion of keeping an extra quilt next to me seems to be working as an insurance policy. However, the light woke her at 5.30am, I just kept still and hoped she would fall back to sleep, no such luck!!! Nanna will be tired later on, I can feel it in my bones (not really, but I can see there will be a time in the future when my bones do tell me things - apparently that happens to all old wise people!!!!).

I am making my daughter liver, bacon and onions for her lunch today, it is one of our favourite treat meals, an old tradional favourite from my English childhood which she also loves. I shall not be partaking as I had a treat yesterday, I am so in control of myself at the moment I feel as if I am on auto pilot. Let's hope it pays off on the scale next week and that nothing untoward happens between now and then.

Thank you for all the congrats on my weight loss, it really is exciting to be part of a team and join in each other's celebrations and successes, losing weight, maintaining, not getting out of control, it is also great when things are not going right, we have all been there are know how each other feel. I just love being here and sharing this experience with you girls. I hope you all have a healthy, successful day.

oat crisp cereal, skim milk, mixed seeds

apple, almonds

veal T bone, mashed potato and pumpkin, cauliflower, peas, gravy

raspberry smoothie

chickpea rissole, coleslaw

Progress as of today: 3.8 lbs lost so far, only 56.2 lbs to go!

V on 08/31/2010:
Hello love!!!!! I am in the process of unpacking so i am going to post later....I am sure you and the princess will have a wonderful sleepover, I could have certainly used Sweetpea's advice when I had my niece and nephew in bed with me,lol I will chat with you later

sweetpea1977 on 08/31/2010:
V's comment made me laugh. Glad the quilt idea worked for a bit. Now its time to invest in blackout curtains! :)

I used to love my mom's liver and onions. My sister hated them. I bet she would have liked them with bacon, though! Hubby gets grossed out about the idea of eatin liver, so I wont be making it during this lifetime. lol

Your menu looks great, especially all the fruits and veggies! :)

Oh, by the way, I ended up working on my recipes during my son's nap. I made a little progress today as it took a while to figure out a method to this madness. Hope to get more done during the remainder of the week!

Enjoy your spring day!

Umpqua on 08/31/2010:
Happy first day of Spring! Your menu does sound wonderful. I'm going to try those chickpea patties for dinner on Friday. I think if I dress them up properly the boys will eat them. We'll see!

Thanks for all your comments :D Your a great inspiration to me and I wish you the best of luck :D Have a great day tomorrow as well. See ya then!

Today I am thankful for: disipline, chocolate, little girls

Hello Wonderful Women,  Weigh in day today and I lost 2.2 pounds..............VOILA!!! Yay! At last a decent number, that was last weeks non loss and this weeks loss put together - it actually worked out the way it was suppose to - I was particularly nice to the scale because it had not moved for two days, this week I will only do my mid week weigh and my real weigh. Otherwise I will get a little obsessive about it. I am having something chocolately for my treat (still allowed on my program) this afternoon, I don't know what yet but I am already salivating at the thought!!!!!

I didn't need to pull up my winter quilt last night and there isn't much of a chill in the air this morning, the sun is streaming through the window onto me as I type, it is 7 a.m. on Tuesday morning and all is right in Moogies world. (Probably an exaggeration but one has to be positive!!) I have the princess and the angel for a little bit this morning as their Mom forgot to buy apples and there has been a bit of a rebellion downstairs (my grandchildren love apples), then the big boys for their afternoon tea, daughter for evening television watching for an hour and that's my day.

A few of you were interested in my Chickpea Rissole recipe: so here it is, 1 tin of chickpeas (400g/1 lb) crushed not pureed, 1 carrot, grated, 2 eggs, 1/2 teaspoon chili powder, about 2/3 cup dried breadcrumbs with herbs, salt and pepper. Combine all ingredients and divide into four patties (like a hamburger), fry in a little olive oil. I find one of these sufficient for a meal (with vegies), but I only have little meals. They go really well with a yogurt, cucumber & mint dip. Or you could stick them in a hamburger bun with salad, that would be yummy as well.

Has anyone heard from Maria, I haven't seen a post from here for over two days, and it is just not like her.? Have a great day girls.

french toast, maple syrup, strawberries

bodywise bar and almonds

souvlaki lamb wraps (thin strips of lamb marinated in olive oil, lemon and oregano then seared, in a wrap spread with greek yogurt and cucumber and tomatoes)

prune and chocolate brownie

seasoned chicken thigh, vegetables, gravy

Progress as of today: 3.8 lbs lost so far, only 56.2 lbs to go!

Umpqua on 08/30/2010:
I am copying your Chickpea Rissole recipe right now - it's the best chance of getting my boys (and I include my husband in that category) to eat chickpeas outside of hummus. Your lamb wraps sound simply scrumptious, gotta get some lamb in the house. I have not heard from Maria, I checked her blog but she hasn't been updating that since she started posting here again. I hope all is OK with her.

Umpqua on 08/30/2010:
Oh and congratulations on your loss! I meant to say that in my previous comment!!

*Hoss's_Mom* on 08/30/2010:
Congrats on your loss! Hope you have another good week this week!

sweetpea1977 on 08/30/2010:
ooh, thanks for the recipe. Sounds incredible!! And those lamb wraps sound delicious too!

Congratulations on your weightloss! WTG moogy!!

just42day on 08/30/2010:
Hooray for the loss! Yeah! Thanks, too, for the recipe. Will definitely give it a try as an alternative to the turkey burgers which I make all the time. I still love the turkey burgers but it's nice to have variety. Keep up the good work and enjoy the chocolate and grandkids (not necessarily in that order.)

meshmallow on 08/30/2010:
That's adorable that your grandkids love apples! I can't say that I loved apples enough to start a rebellion when I was younger. Congratulations on the weightloss! C:

V on 08/30/2010:
Yay!!!!! Results that were desired!!!! I am glad you found a Moogy friendly diet girly!!!!!

MEATLESS MONDAY

Hello Lovely Girls, I actually remembered that it was meatless Monday without a reminder - it is practically a miracle. LOL Well it is Monday here and we have a few clouds in the sky, but yesterday not a one was to be seen, it was a beautiful Sunday.  The site wasn't very busy yesterday I am thinking that you were all busy doing enjoyable things with family or friends - I hope so anyway.

I have a small chest (like a pirate only with pretty decorations) that I keep my precious treasures in  and I was having a bit of a clean out and came across lots and lots of thank you notes, some of them were so old I couldn't even remember the people who had sent them to me. I mention this because I should keep a journal of some sort for my posterity but I don't - what I do instead is keep cards, notes, letters etc. plus my photos are sorted with info on the back - I am figuring that they can get to know be sufficiently by my left over trail. I was nice to remember people from my past (I wish I could remember the other's!!!), cards from co-workers when I had left jobs, it makes me grateful to remember all the really nice people that I have had the opportunity to meet and work with or help along the way.

On the weight front, it is weigh in day tomorrow and the scale is stuck, has been for two days now, miserable flipping thing!!!

bodywise bar, almonds

baked beans on toast

chickpea rissoles, oven baked chips, peas

strawberries, pecans

scrambled egg, hot chocolate

Progress as of today: 2.8 lbs lost so far, only 57.2 lbs to go!

cleaneating on 08/29/2010:
Good luck with your weigh in tomorrow!

just42day on 08/29/2010:
Thanks for Meatless Monday reMinder!!! I'll list that as on update on my entry as reminder to others, too! I completely forgot!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 08/29/2010:
what's chickpea rissoles? i'm gonna look it up, it sounds good. beans and chickpeas can be very filling and satisfying. coleslaw, too. I think i may experiment with the cabbage used to make coleslaw by using other more healthy ingredients instead of the usual mayo. usually, i just add a healthy dressing on top of it.

very healthy foods!

just42day on 08/29/2010:
Saw your recipe for chickpea rissoles. Sounds quite good and amazingly I have all the ingredients on hand! Will probably try them sometime this week. Normally, I have an egg and/or turkey of some sort for breakfast. Just didn't have any on hand this morning. :)

V on 08/30/2010:
Good Luck on your weigh in....I am a little frightened about mine on Tuesday, I did well as far as foodwise, on the booze front NOT SO BUENO!!!! LOL I guess it could be worse! I miss you bunches :) I am headed to the airport in a few hours where I will be for quite some time so I will have plenty time to catch up with your diaries my friend :) I am also putting your postcards in the mail so you should have them soon :) Love Ya!!!!

KathyBlue on 08/30/2010:
ahhh, sweet memories. I like the idea of keeping a treasure chest. I keep a shoebox with old letters, love letters from my man while we were living far from each other (different countries), letters from my friends, postcards, etc.

just42day on 08/30/2010:
thanks for stealing the breadcrumbs. I knew I should have left a very, very long string....

loveray on 08/30/2010:
im excited for meatless monday!! you have inspired me to be mostly vegetarian and i love it- it's been about a month now. maybe one day, vegan?! xo

liza36 on 08/30/2010:
What is chickpea rissoles? I love chickpeas, so would probably like that.

Going down memory lane can be fun. Have a great meatless Monday.

CHERISH LIFE'S SIMPLE PLEASURES

In the private sanctuary of one's own conscience lies that spirit, that determination to cast off the old person and to measure up to                                                                           the stature of true potential......................................Thomas S. Monson

Today I am grateful for : singing hymns, lovely people, spring

Hello Wonderful Women, It is a sunny Sunday morning, I was up early so had time to read and write before going to church. Thank you to all you girls who comment on my entries, I really appreciate your words of support and encouragement. A couple of you wanted to know how the cheesecake turned out, well as you have probably gathered by now, it was absolutely yummy, I wrapped up individual serving sizes and stuck them in the freezer. The beautly of this one is I can't eat it frozen and I can't defrost them in the micowave, so no impulse cheesecake eating for me. Yay!!!

I was checking the Bureau of Meteorolgy site yesterday and it was saying that it was going to be 25c/77f on Wednesday, I tell you there is nothing subtle about seasons in Australia, they don't slowly emerge - it is just, OK, spring, there you go, warm weather. I will enjoy these lovely days as much as I can before the dreaded summer arrives. My spring bulbs on my balcony are thinking about sending out their flower stalks and my daises are absolutely beautiful, I have white ones with blue centres, and pink with black centres, they delight my for some strange reason, I always smile as they nod their heads in the breeze. Anyway, I must get off and dry my hair, put a face on and present myself to the world.  Have a wonderful rest of the weekend girls.

oat crisp cereal, skim milk, mixed seeds

toasted turkey, bacon, spinach, cranberry wrap (can't wait for this one)

bodywise bar, almonds

lamb steak, cauliflower, green beans, peas, gravy, mint sauce

Progress as of today: 2.8 lbs lost so far, only 57.2 lbs to go!

It sounds like you're having a nice weekend. I love reading about signs of spring, especially flowers. We are finishing up our gardening season here, and then it's a long wait until spring. It's always nice to read about what's going on in other climates!

Tuesday is my usual weigh-in day, but I occasionally do it on Saturday as well. I don't expect a loss this week despite the wt trng--my appetite has returned to nearly normal compared to what it was in May/June ish. I guess I'll see:-)

So you're going to start walking--good plan! Happy Monday!
