(lowered carb diet)
Weight: 0.0

Hi, again, new topic--anyone in this group taking Paxil for depression? Under doctor's care, am trying to wean myself off of it. As I take synthroid for hypothyroidism, it seems the Paxil is wreaking havoc with my metabolism. Have read lots of articles about Paxil and weight gain. The withdrawl is nasty. Any advice would be most appreciated. mopflop

Hi. Ask your doctor about Wellbutrin. Since I've been on Wellbutrin I've lost about 14 pounds. It seems to be working and I feel better.

Good luck.

My brother is taking Paxil and he is doing great on it. He's been on it for a while (about a year or so). I don't know if it's affected his weight. He is heavy to begin with. I was taking it too for a while and I thought I wasn't getting anywhere diet-wise. My doctor switched me to Lexapro and that seems to be working better for me. I've lost 17 lbs. in 90 days. I'm a slow loser to begin with plus my age (52) and I'm not an exercise nut so all of these things contribute to my slow loss...but I'm still losing :).

Good luck....

TM

I had a family member get off of paxil--of course you may have gotten different advice. They were advised to completely stop it after alternating days for 1 week. If you don't think you need it, quit taking it--it's your body. On the other hand, if you are depressed and you need an antidepressant, perhaps you should think about a second opinion.

Have a good day!

I have no advice for you about Paxil, just wanted to congratulate you on the jogging you accomplished!! Way to go! Have a great day today!

Hi, fellow health seekers. Did a short jog, 2 miles--haven't jogged outdoors in 5 years. It was exhilarating. Forgot how such a simple motion clears the mind, calms the spirit. Hope to keep it up, along with walking. I have always known to lose weight a person should find an intentional form of exercise they like. Am feeling upbeat--house cleaning, and then to the outdoors. Haven't weighed in since I started the live-it (thank you Richard Simmons) regards, mopflop

Hi, all fellow health seekers. New to this group. Interesting shares. I have been on a lowered carb diet for 2 weeks. It's more like the South Beach Diet, and then, again, it's not! what?? What I am doing is dieting the old fashioned way--and it's simple--eat when hungry, if stressed, do some exercise. The strange thing--I am using cleaning my house as my main form of exercise. It dawned on me, why am I sitting on my ample butt--depressed--hopeless--the house was sort of calling to me--well, not actually. Looking around, I saw all sorts of makeovers for the house and for me. more, later, mopflop

Hi Mopflop and welcome! This is a great little online "family." We support each other, yell at each other, and share in the knowledge that we're all in this together. Let me know if I can help you in any way.
