Good evening all! I'm back after a year and a half. A little heavier but still determined! I've been a little lost but am now determined to be fit at forty! And it's fast approaching! Didn't realise how much I'd missed catching up with people's lives! Hope to stick around for a while!

Hi everyone,

Sorry haven't been around.  I sustained a back injury and nasty bite while at work last week and have ended up in bed for the last couple of days with some strong painkillers, nursing various bruised body parts.  anyway, I did manage to lose 1lb on Monday night so that is 1lb closer to target.  Im only managing to sit at the computer for a short time but will try to read all posts.  if I dont comment please know Im still here! be safe and healthy this week everyone sarah

d - broth, frozen yoghurt with raspberries

What a day!!!! this morning on the way to work it was a nightmare.  it had rained during the night and then the temperatures dropped which froze the rain to the ground.  school buses ended up in the ditch and peoples cars were sliding down hills it was very scary indeed.  anyway no-one was seriously hurt.  menu for today:

b- banan yoghurt, coffee

l- tuna and peppers with malted vinegar, coffee, water yoghurt, raspberries

d- veg soup, strawberries yighurt, coffee, water

s- yoghurt melon

Oh - icy roadways! We get that here. This year snow, though. Thanks for the suggestion on superfoods. I need to eat more of those. I'll look up a list of them. I love raspberries best of all - but love berries in general. I have been just getting over a chest cold and I think that has contributed to tired feeling, too. Took mucinex again to day and feel better.

Yeah, Hubbard is the same as long-necked squash. I used the latter term because I wasn't sure but knew that "long-necked" would clarify what I had.

quick update........1lb lighter! (better then nothing I suppose) head down for next week.  good luck everyone x

good afternoon all,

didnt get to write yeserday, had an eventfull day.  went skiing and had a lovely day, however, on the way back The wind had blown a 160cm snow drift over the only road out! we left the slopes at 4pm and the usually 40min journey took 4 hours!!!! after moving most of the drift a farmer came with a tractor and pulled us to safety!  anyway! todays menu:

b - banana and yoghurt coffee

l- tuna salad with vinegar, yoghurt, coffe, water

d - fish pie (same as cottage pie only with fish and low fat cheese sauce with sweet potato topping) coffee, water frozen yoghurt

s - apple, banana

be safe, be healthy!

Hey Nenak, thanks for calling by my diary. The picture was taken in a chilly, but sunny Leamington Spa on Saturday. On our way home to Manchester on Sunday we came up your side of the Pennines and then across via the M62. There seemed to be a lot of snow about still. Back here in Manchester we are starting the thaw at last :)

good afternoon,

well its snowing here and the main roads are terrible.  I have walked to the local supermarket for some bread and milk and we have the heating on!  nothing to do but wait it out!  last night I started with my exercise schedule and every night/ morning I wil be doing 30mins of dvd dancing exercises.  menu for today:

b- raspberries, yoghurt, coffee, water

l- 2egg , mushroom and onion omlette with choped tomatoes and 1 white pitta bread toasted, coffee, water

d- homemade burgers extra lean beef, peppers, onion, wocester sauce binded with egg, oven roasted sweet potatoes and peppers, coffee, water, yoghurt with strawberries

s- apple, honeydew melon

hopefully get some skiing in tomorrow! whatever you are doing do it safely and be healthy x

I had everything I needed for cottage pie, so I made one yesterday. I think what is sold as minced meat where you live is called ground, here. I had leftover rotisserie chicken which I minced into itty bitty pieces. For the "swede" I used a long-necked squash plus half a leftover sweet potato.

It was so fast and easy to prepare and I enjoyed eating it so much! Thank you for introducing me to this delight. I have about 1.5 C left from yesterday which I'm looking forward to early afternoon.

Oh id love to learn how to ski! Hope your able to fit it in! Well done for losing what you have already too...The roads here are awful, the coucil have run out of grit so it's just so dangerous, really not worth risking going out. Anyway, well done... take care and keep in touch xx

good morning,

minced meat is beef (or pork or turkey) minced into very tiny pieces and sold as minced meat! swede is a vegtable like turnip(i think) its hard and orange and we boil and sometimes mash it with margerine! tastes great and i use it as an alternative to potatoes but it doesnt taste the same!

another snow or should i say ice day today so im in the middle of the house work, changed the beds dusted, hovered and now im about to tackle the bathroom.  in between im playing doctors with the little one.  it was -18 degree celcuis here last night and it has stopped food getting to the shops!  we are firmly staying put untill mid afternoon when i hope we are going to hit the slopes! so menu for today:

b - yoghurt, raspberries, coffee, water

l- soup (homemade) with a superb view of weardale valley, coffee, water

d - mince and dumplings yoghurt raspberries, coffee, water

s- apple, banana

be safe, be healthy

I never heard of swede. Good to know......I love turnips!! No one else at my house does, though. Boy it sounds like your weather is brutal. Stay warm and keep up the good work. Raspberries - sound great. I bough some beautiful ones today, too. They were fairly pricey, but I will pay a bit for healthy stuff that I know will definitely get all eaten up. Can't stand to waste food - hey that might be part of my "problem"!

good afternoon everyone, guess what! another snow day here is sunny co.durham.  no school again due to aleast 50cm of snow!  just finished some work and breaking for lunch.  menu:

b- banana, coffee

l- cottage pie (left overs), raspberries and yoghurt, coffee

d - veg stew, yoghurt, apple, coffee

s- apple, yoghurt

need to drink more water will try this afternoon!

my  cottage pie is made with lean mince, onions and carrots fried in wocester sauce, topped with mashed sweet potato and swede.  popped into the oven for a crunch top.

be safe be healthy!

Yum cottage pie - is that in crust? What is swede? I see you and Jules mentioning that in your menus. Lean mince - is that beef? Keep up the good work. Sorry about the snow days. Unsettling - I like routine. My daughter is out of High School and not in college (yet) - working so no worries about snow days. It's snowing hard here. Only 2-4 accumulation predicted, though. Keep up the good work and thanks for the comments! I need encouragement and I'll try to be encouraging!
