Hey everyone!  I haven't been on this site in a while...bit I figured I'd start tracking my progress again.  So far I'm down about 20 lbs.  I've been competing in a weight loss challenge at work and it ends this Friday.  I'm fighting for first place!!

This week I started atkins.  So far I'm not a fan.  I have no energy.  Has anyone had any experience with atkins?

Take care!

So I'm so ticked off right now. My husband is practically a stick figure. I have seen him eat an entire pizza for a meal and then go for dessert. Which is good for him, but he has NO IDEA what it's like for me. Whenever I'm dieting and trying to lose some weight, he tries to "motivate" me but it comes of as insulting. He keeps pushing me to do more and more, which it's nice to push someone along, but not at the expense of their feelings. I've dated guys before who are supportive, but make me feel like I'm fine the way I am. Whenever I am trying to lose weight now, my husband is ALL over it. Trying to get me to work out longer than I can handle and will make suggestions on what I should eat. I just feel like he's not doing it to be supportive as much as he's doing it because he wants me thinner.

Yesterday we went for a bike ride and at a point I was pushed myself enough. We've only done the trail 3 times and I was exhausted. I did a good job....as much as the day before, but instead of going home like I asked....he continued to ride around our neighborhood for an additional few miles. AND today he sent me this....

http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1827342,00.html?iid=336x280_h

Not only is this article discouraging (I am still in the process of working up to a 60 + min workout), but I feel like he is telling me I'm not doing enough.

I mean, he is NOT a bad guy by any means, and I know I'm very self conscious, but it just really annoys me. And I know this sounds stupid....but I know I'm obese, but I HATE that my husband thinks of me that way. Am I overreacting??

Sorry to vent. I hope all is well with everyone!

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 38.5 lbs to go!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 07/29/2008:
no, you are not overreacting. perhaps talk to him gently and make him see what his actions are actually doing to your feelings. guys can do more than us and he may think he's being helpful but not see that it feels a lot more strenuous for you to do the same workout he would do. i know i could never keep up with my dad, for instance. i remember once on a canoe trip i was with my mom in one boat and my sister was with my dad. she hardly even paddled and my dad did all the work while my mom and myself couldn't barely even keep up. actually, we didnt and someone had to row us to safety! haha

Donkey on 07/29/2008:
I feel your pain. Let me tell ya, one thing I've learned over the summer is that 80% of weight loss is what goes in your mouth. I would not have believed this, but if you look at my progress chart, you will see that what I'm saying is true. I totally changed how/what I eat since April/May, and look at where my weight has gone.

But yeah, men have no idea.

WI3 on 07/29/2008:
Hey, someone can be stick thin and still be unhealthy. You are going for being HEALTHY as well as losing weight. So while he may be able to eat an entire pizza and not have to exercise and remain skinny...you just keep on eating apples and doing your exercise and healing your body. My ex husband was a jerk who thought I was 'disgustingly fat' when I was 10lbs over weight..at 110 lbs! But that has nothing to do with YOUR husband LOL I was just venting about those days..thank GOD they are over LOL.

Your husband is probably just excited and trying to over-help LOL, guys should learn that when we are PMS'ing and dieting, we are not to be trifled with LOL

Have a great day

I don't mind the nutrisystem so much. But if I wasn't trying to lose weight there is no way I'd ever eat it. Most of it reminds me of airplane food, there are a few things that are terrible. The eggs and the roast beef being two that I just can't handle. I have compared the nutrisystem against the diet frozen meals in the grocery store and have found there are about the same, the frozen ones do have less sodium. I won't order from them again, I'll buy frozen entrees on sale, and use them.

Well I've been at it for 2 weeks and doing pretty well. I need to find a good workout program that I can stick to. We have this great bike trail near my house that me and the husband have tried out. I thought I was going to die when I tried it, but I think it is something that I can keep at and eventually like... maybe??

I was looking back at pictures from like 4 years ago, when I weighed like 40 lbs lighter. I can't believe how little I look!! At the time I still thought I was huge, but I would give anything to look like that again. I'll get back there eventually. Too bad I donated all my skinny clothes!

Well off to battle the bike trail!

WI3 on 07/27/2008:
Have fun on the bike trail!

Moody2 on 07/27/2008:
I've done that too~seen pictures of myself much thinner and remembering not being happy at that weight either, thinking I was still "fat" when in reality I wasn't.

The biking sounds like fun~I hope that you enjoy yourself! How long do u bike for?

TOmama on 07/27/2008:
I've done that too, but never again! I bet you won't make that same mistake either!

grumpy on 07/27/2008:
Good luck with the biking! It just takes being consistent for a while till you eventually crave it and enjoy! xo.

Good morning!! I'm back again. Things have been great for me. I found a great new job, a new house, and I'm a newly wed. :-)

Only bad thing is the weight keeps creeping up. I was helping a good friend move last weekend and she pulled out some pictures from about 4 years ago when I lost some weight. I had no idea how skinny I looked!!!! It was the kick in the butt I needed to get back on track. Hopefully it sticks this time. The good thing is my husband is on board and being really great. Even though he is practically a stick person. We've decided to eat healthier and get out more and be more active. He leaves for work nearly 2 hours after I do and has been getting up with me in the morning just to make sure we eat breakfast together. (Since I'm very good at skipping breakfast.)

Does anyone know a good cook book for healthy eating?? Preferably easy recipe..... :-D

Have a great day!!

Moody2 on 07/16/2008:
Congratulations on your wedding!! Things sound like they are going great in your world! Very supportive husband!! I don't know of any cookbooks but I'm sure many on here do and will letcha know of them!!

Have a great day!

hollybelle on 07/22/2008:
Welcome back and congrats.

As for cookbooks - I use the web. Try allrecipes.com, recipezaar.com or google for others. They all have sections for healthy eating and can refine it down to easy/quick - believe me if we can't have it cooking in 10 minutes we don't have it! Best wishes.

Weight: 177.5

Good morning! So I'm at 177.5 now....I have 6 months to the wedding. I need to lose more weight, but at least i have been losing and I'm heading in the right direction. I would be perfectly happy to be at 155-160 for the wedding, which is totally doable in 6 months. :-D

My biggest concern for the wedding is my arms. I do have a strapless dress and a whole lot of arm flab. I will be concentrating on my arms a lot to get them looking good for the wedding. Does anyone know any good arm exercises?

Other than that, life is good. I ended up quitting my job, it was just getting more and more evident that it was not the place for me and I was too stressed out. So now I'm taking time off and job hunting/wedding planning. Which leaves me tons of time to work out. I also broke my longtime love affair with diet pepsi. I am soda free!

Hope all is well!!!

WorkingIt2 on 02/19/2007:
The only thing that will get rid of flab is cardio. You can start to work your triceps to help make the muscle harder, but the flab can only go away with good cardio! Congrats on continuing to lose and you are right, your goal is doable!

Soon2BThin on 02/19/2007:
Hi, good to see you back! And good luck with your weightloss. I know you can do it! Such great incentive, a wedding. And good job on quitting the diet pepsi!

sharklover on 02/19/2007:
Congrats on loosing more weight, and congrats on being soda free! (There are two kinds of people in the world, coke people and pepsi people. I'm a pepsi person too!)

You can totally make it to 155-160 for the wedding, possibly even less. good luck!

sasyredneckgirl on 02/20/2007:
I think using some of those resistance bands would help with the flab am hoping anyways it does thats what i am doing when i can rememeber it and it will work your arms..

Hey!! So I have about a year to lose about 40 lbs. I am engaged!!! And we are looking at September of next year. And of course I want to be skinny and gorgeous at my wedding.

We just got engaged 2 nights ago...and it was PERFECT and totally unexpected. We went to Vegas for our 2 year anniversary...which was Monday. He told me he was taking me somewhere special on Wednesday night....but I still had no idea.

Anyway...Wednesday night comes along.....and a limo comes and picks us up at our hotel. The limo brings us to an airport...from there we take a helicopter over Las Vegas and the Hoover Dam. The helicopter drops us off at Lake Las Vegas...where there is a boat waiting for us to take us over the Lake. So the boat brings us to The Las Vegas Resort...to The Village. We have dinner at this really cute Italian Restaurant....outside by candle light (and I still don't catch on!!) When we get done eating...we only have 10 minutes to get back to the boat...but we go for a quick walk. We wander over to a fountain in the middle of the village....and next thing I know...he's down on one knee....PERFECT. He gave me his Grandma's ring...which is so beautiful, but sadly too small...we need to have it sized this week. And of course I say YES...after the shock dies down enough for me to respond. Then we go back on the boat...under the stars....listening to nora jones....then back to the helicopter to fly over the strip at night. It was like a dream...it's still sinking in.

But anyway...need to lose weight...and soon!!!! Hope all is well!!

Wow! What a fantastic proposal...and incredibly romantic! :) I hope you can lose your 40 pounds...it IS possible! Keep us posted!

geevee on 09/23/2006:
What a lovely memory you'll have for life! Your fianc´┐Ż is truly special. Very few men have the wonderful imagination that he does. Lucky girl!

As you start your weight loss plan, every time you are tempted to go astray, pull up that mental image you have of yourself looking absolutely gorgeous in your wedding dress. You don't want to sabotage that goal. Doing that will really help you stick to your plan.

sweetpea1977 on 09/27/2006:
Congratulations!

40 pounds in a year is very doable. I decided to lose weight 9 months before my wedding and I was able to lose 50 lbs just by making healthier food choices, watching calories, and exercising 30-60 minutes a day. In fact, most of my weight loss during that time frame was just by walking my dog 2-5 miles a day and eating 1200-1400 nutrient rich calories per day.

So, if I can lose 50 pounds in 9 months, you can certainly lose 40 pounds in a year!

Best wishes!
