(Calorie Counting)
Weight: 206.0

Hey Ladies,

Second post in not too long. I've been contemplating the best strategy for weight loss. Ive done the calorie counting and the medifast and the weight watchers. I'm just in ned of suggestions of what has worked best for others and strategies for sticking to it. My primary goal is to reach 180 then keep going but I'm having a hard time even beginning. I'll list a few things that are my trouble spots and maybe whoever reads this can give me some help. The thing is that I "know" whats good and bad but have trouble sticking to a diet.

Diet challenges:- new mom at home 24/7 with month old baby for next 5 weeks until going back to work.   -love (may be addicted to sweets)  - husband eats carbs alot even when I dont and I have trouble limiting my food intake when it's around (husband loves to cook so I let him) -unreliable schedule because baby is not on a routine as of yet.

Thanks for any help you can give me!

Progress as of today: 10 lbs lost so far, only 71 lbs to go!

I just think each day that passes I'm glad it's not the first day I'm starting out. End of day as the head hits the pillow, the empowerment that comes from knowing you've eaten right and exercised give just a little more umph for the next day. PATIENCE and self-tolerance to make mistakes is key. One day at a time and her I'm on day 64 thankful it's not day 1. :) Best wishes in finding your empowerment and knowing your worth the effort you put into being a healthier you, mom & wife. It's for you, nobody else first!

Congratulations on your new baby boy!! I know all too well how difficult (and joyous) those early months can be. My advice would be to plan for yourself as best as you can. That's great that your husband cooks and if you know he's planning a high carb meal just try to work around it. I use MyFitnessPal to log my calories and it really works well for me. I can plan out my day somewhat in advance and if I know I'm eating a higher calorie/higher carb dinner I can adjust my daytime calories accordingly. For whatever reason, if I have everything listed in there I do better at staying "on plan" and within my allotted calorie range for the day. My only other advice would be to keep healthy snacks around that you can grab when things get hectic and you don't have time for a proper meal.

puddles on 03/10/2015:
My only advise is to eliminate all sugar from your eating habit and you will find that your hunger cravings and your appetite will be better balanced. The other thing is drink all your water daily. I wish you luck and success on your journey.

Congrats on your baby! I try to plan my menu in advance and counting calories works best for me. I'm lucky though that my husband is not a snack person or junk food eater.

SkinInTheGame on 03/15/2015:
Congrats on your new baby!! My advice is at the beginning if the day - write out a plan for yourself and stick to it! Every day you will get better at it! Make it realistic so it will work.

I was stuck in the 160s and blew my plan at night for months because I didn't want to eat after track at 7 pm.

Then finally I put an after track snack in to the day and now it's working for me.

My AM plan includes my food, exercise, work and play plan for the day. It's my contract with myself.

Best of luck!

Hi Ladies! I've been gone for over a year...baby boy to thank for that. He is one month old (this past Wednesday) and while I still have 6 weeks baby vacation left I want to get back into the swing of things. So excited. I actually lost weight with the pregnancy. Those reading this don't hate me, I was nauseous the entire pregnancy and had acid reflux everyday to attribute to the weight loss. Needless to say I need this forum in order to reach my goal. I need support and accountability to continue. Anyhoo. Its great to be back and can't wait to read some of the posts out there.

Hi everyone. I'm back! Just feeling like I want to keep track of my progress as I'm dieting. I'm going to be calorie counting like its my job and for the past month I've been going to the gym every week day (will be making that everyday soon)! My plan for the day is as follows: Breakfast- eggo 95 cal Lunch - healthy choice BBQ steak 330 cal Snacks - oikos blueberry yogurt 130 cal Veggie chips 120 cal Edy's fruit bar-80 cal 0 fat Dinner??? 350- 400 calories of something

My routine has changed some for eating unplanned dinners. We are currently living at my boyfriends home....we plan on getting married next year...no ring as of yet. Dinners are always a late decision so I plan on having 350 calories a day just for dinner. I will update later. Glad to be back with you all! Will update soon! -teensy

Well welcome back! We're glad to have you. You sound like you're doing great!! With the gym, just remember your body needs time to recover... I learned the hard way that too much cardio/stress on the body without enough recovery time will actually hinder your ability to lose weight.

I am doing so well today. Ive had 4 medifast meals and still have one medifast and one lean and green meal. My bf is grilling either chicken or salmon for dinner. Staying on track and still holding out for the scale until my period goes away. Very excited.

Congratulatios on your lsoss. I liked what you were talking about maintaining spaces in you rlast post. Interesting. Also only eating the points you could "afford". I am pretty good at budgeting money - so why not apply that skill to my calories. I'll have to to hink about this!

Hello all. I did well today. I have been looking into something talked about at my weight watchers meeting...maintaining spaces. This means being aware of how the spaces you are in affect dieting behaviors. So at work, I planned not to dread the corner of the room with all the cookies, cakes and pies but to just be aware of the weight watchers points and only eat what i could "afford" with my points. Ot worked really well. I had to come home instead of going to the boyfriend's house since i neither had my workout dvd or my meals. I did go home and do my walking dvd for 30 mins! I have to admit i was out of shape but kept up at the easy pace. My meals for today: Banana, progresso chicken and sausage gumbo, diet root beer, 3 oatmeal cookies, healthy choice bbq steak, and 3 chips ahoy cookies. Im off to plan for tomm! Wish me luck!
