Starting a 3 day detox diet. Didn't decide until after breakfast but so far so good. Basically fruit & vegetable smoothies with some almond butter or coconut oil in each one.

I needed to do something to see some results . I did this 3 day program a while back & I lost a few lbs & felt pretty good.

Exercise today was gardening.

ohioraven on 08/09/2015:
Keep up the exercise. In my experience slow and steady diet changes worked the best for me. Have a good day, TO.

Hi- Another beautiful day. Sunny with low humidity.

Started the day with a blood draw- thankfully they open at 7 & the hospital is so close that the total time from leaving to getting home for my cup of coffee was less than an hour.

Breakfast- Cheerios w/ skim milk & blueberries, Lunch- tuna w/ mustard, corn on the cob from my garden w/ some butter, more blueberries Dinner will be leftover salmon & more corn. Oh I'm sure I'll have some snacks- just need to limit the amount. Still aiming at 1400 calories. Exercise- Zumba class- about 45 min & some gardening.

Hope you are having a great day.

ohioraven on 08/07/2015:
Sounds good, TP.

So this was my day yesterday. Golf in the morning with a friend. Lots of catching up in between golf swings. Followed by an iced coffee at Starbuck's. Home , shower , lunch & off to spend some time with my friend in hospice, stayed an hour and a 1/4 , left her knowing my husband was going to stay with her soon after I left. A priest came by to pray with her as I left her & she died just before my husband was there as the priest was about to leave. As emotional as it was I knew that I was scheduled to have dinner & shop with my 10 yr old grand daughter. I gave her a choice for dinner & she choose Olive Garden- not my favorite but I had soup & salad , not bad but then my grand daughter insisted on a dessert. Well I helped her eat it. ugh... not happy. Off to shop but the goal was for her to buy Converse sneakers & she wasn't happy about the fit, off to find another store to see if they had another type of Converse. They did, but still not happy with the fit. So no sneakers and she had no interest in any other type of shoe. A very unhappy 10 year old who had been so psyched about buying these shoes. Went home & had 2 glasses of wine & some pretzels.

The reason for going through all of this is to show how weak I am & how worthless it is to even think I'm going to lose weight. Yes, an unusual day to have been with someone just before death & then unhappy to not have had a good ending for my grand daughter, but still no reason to abandon my goal .

Today is a new day, right??

grannyannie on 08/06/2015:
So sorry about the loss of your friend. To be expected that you'll have some wine and dessert. I'll be taking my son's family to Olive Garden when I get to Michigan. Their online menu does have some low cal choices which I hope I will choose!

You'll get back on track.

Awake early, which isn't a good start to the day, but nothing new for me. Yesterday - did get some exercise in, and although not what I had planned it was about 20 min of good aerobic exercise. Food- Didn't meet my goal of just fruits & vegetables for snacks but close to it. Spent 3 hours sitting with a church member in hospice and at the end of her life . I thought I was doing okay with it & I was , but hard not to let it affect me for the day.

So goals for today-

exercise- I'm playing golf but I think iw will involve an electric cart so can't count that as exercise. It will be hot today so that might rule out a walk.

Food- Working for 1400 calories and to limit snacks to 2 fruits & vegetables. No wine today.

Hope you all have a good day.

grannyannie on 08/05/2015:
Good job on the exercise. Have a great day today. :)

puddles on 08/05/2015:
There is still some exercise in just playing golf even with a cart so don't eliminate it completely. Have a great day and keep doing the best you can it will all work out in the end.

ohioraven on 08/05/2015:
Park at the women's tees and hit from the men's tees. That should do it.

Summer1142 on 08/05/2015:
Agreed - golf is still decent exercise, even with a cart. Hope your afternoon went well!

hollybelle on 08/05/2015:
Your golf with a cart isn't exactly sitting still - stand and walk all you can and have fun!

biscottibody59 on 08/05/2015:
I'm sure that church friend or their family appreciated you being there. Not easy.

Have a good evening!

An up & down summer. Can't seem to keep my motivation when trips, meals out, clebrations come up. I know that I need to plan for these meals but somehow doesn't happen .

Will try to be better about logging in here.

Basically have been maintaining not meeting my goal , that's for sure.

Today- fruit, yogurt, skim milk shake for breakfast, planning a 1/2 turkey sand for lunch, dinner will be chicken not sure how I'll prepare.

Goals for today- walk, vegetables & fruit for snacks

Have a super day!

grannyannie on 08/04/2015:

Exercise today- 9 holes of golf with pullcart.

I've been away for the last few days . In Boston and out and about seeing the sights. Not really on track but doing alot of walking. Over 4 miles each day. Hoping it all balances out. Back in a couple of days.

Umpqua on 07/21/2015:
That sounds like fun, enjoy!

ohioraven on 07/21/2015:
At least you came back. We miss you when you're gone.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 07/22/2015:

Today- B- wh toast w/ smart balance & jam, L- 1/2 turkey sand w 1 sl bacon & 2 t Mayo, cherries, Afternoon snacks- pistachios, cracker w p.b, small amount of pretzels, Dinner planned - chicken , gr beans, squash gl of wine

Exercise- walked 9 holes of golf, short walk, gardening

Too many snacks!! I should try drinking more water . I have lots of zucchini ,summer squash & green beans from my garden. I don't think I'll have a vegetable garden again- there's only so much that 2 people can eat. And try giving away zucchini! I can give extra to the local food pantry though so there should be no waste.

So from the time I signed back in to DD I've lost 2 1/2 lb but I hardly count the first 2 lbs. The 1/2 lb I'll count! So progress.

puddles on 07/16/2015:
Have a great evening.

grannyannie on 07/17/2015:
I'm a snacker as well! If I didn't snack I'd be fine.

hollybelle on 07/17/2015:
Yes! The local food pantry should take excess vegetables or sometimes local churches do. I am always surprised some people don't know how to cook fresh vegetables. I guess they didn't grow up eating them like did.

biscottibody59 on 07/17/2015:
Have you tried grilling the zukes? I've had them with a little teriyaki sauce or just even a marinade that you like for other stuff.

Also they can be stuffed--each half. Though that's a little more involved. And if you wanted you could blanch and freeze some.

Enjoy your weekend!

Umpqua on 07/20/2015:
That's great that you can give away the extra fresh veggies. It sounds like you're doing great overall!

having a decent week. not seeing a whole lot of progress but that's okay. For me just eating in control is a big step.

Today- B- cereal w/ blueberries, L- 1/2 turkey sand. peach Snack- some pistachios, yogurt Dinner will be a salad with turkey & various veggies & some cheese with a dinner roll I'm sure the day will end with another snack- maybe the 100 cal frozen lemon bar.

Exercise- 3 1/3 mile walk. Well that's what my phone app read. Also a few stretching /yoga exercises.

Not setting any lofty goals yet. Just hoping for 1 lb a week for now. I would be happy with that.

Good catching up with your posts.

ohioraven on 07/15/2015:
Doing good, TP. Keep it up.

hollybelle on 07/16/2015:
Controlled eating is a big step! Good for you and great walk!

Umpqua on 07/16/2015:
I think this is a good attitude - just getting the eating under control will eventually lead to progress and loss. Well done!

ohioraven on 07/15/2015:
