HI all-

Down one pound. Hoping to lose 5 lbs by mid March. I think that’s pretty realistic.

Another sunny day here. Went to water aerobics this morning. I’ve had some exercise every day which is my goal.

Breakfast was a banana and toast. Lunch - sort  of an odd assortment of raw vegetables, a few almonds, 2 Alyssa’s oatmeal bites ( I get them at Publix & I’m sort of addicted they are 90 calories for 2) a few triscuits and a couple of pepperoni slices. Dinner will be a Blue Apron chicken dinner.

Staying in the 1300 -1400 calorie range. Need to work harder on the carbs.

Hope your day is a good one!

horn_of_plenty on 02/07/2019:
congrats on your loss!

losing 5 is def a realistic goal and i like your approach as well as food choices!

nice mix of the pepperoni and triscuits, it's a good appetite pleaser and i'm sure it helps you feel satisfied if eaten with lots of veggies like you did! nicely done!

i like carbs, as they are mood boosting. i include them (in small-medium quantities) in all my meals so that i'm not bingeing later on them!

thinkpositive on 02/09/2019:
Thanks. Snacking is a definite problem for me & I have to do better with planning them out.

Hi,

A good day today. Sunny and warm enough for water aerobics this morning and the a short walk on the beach.

Food has been in control so far. Breakfast was an egg with spinach, 1/2 grapefruit and a banana . Lunch was a salad with turkey with oil & vinegar. Finished off with a square of dark chocolate. A small oatmeal cookie for a snack. Tonight is a salmon Blue Apron dinner. Husband is preparing it so I have the night off from chopping & cooking. Maybe a glass of wine with that salmon.

My lottery winnings includes an hour of personal training which I will use. In addition to that there are coupons for food, nails, haircut, time with a lawyer, golf outings, car washes, and a variety of gift certificates! Quite an assortment.

Hope everyone has a super day.

SilverySparkles on 02/05/2019:
Nice prizes!

horn_of_plenty on 02/06/2019:
So jealous of your warmth! NYC has 2 more months of WINTER weather! Beach always makes things better.

Breakfast sounds so filling...i like the banana and bananas in general but like pizza, the carbs of the banana spike my hunger like an hour after i eat bananas i'm hungry again (and usually plan to eat again in the form of snack.) does this happen to you?

Lunch sounds amazing. very balanced with the oil/vinegar/protein and veggies! great finisher with chocolate! yum! really loving lunch and your cookie snack!

Dinner sounds perfect so does a glass of wine!

wowwwwww that's a lot of great gift certificates! the lawyer sounds good, if it's a financial lawyer!

thinkpositive on 02/07/2019:
Thanks for your thoughts! Yes, being in warm weather is great for exercise & just general feeling of well being.

Donkey on 02/06/2019:
Are the summers in Florida unbearable? I ask because my husband and I are seriously thinking of needing to move to a warmer climate because of his auto-immune disease. My family lives in Vegas, but we're also considering Florida.

I guess we're trying to discern which one is more bearable in the summer. However, Chicago summers are just brutal - hot, humid, mosquitoes.

thinkpositive on 02/07/2019:
I’ll be back in the Northeast in May so haven’t experienced summer here. I know a. Number of full timers who have moved from up north & some do just fine, others find cooler spots to be in the summer.

Hi-

Good grief- can’t believe I just ate a small bag of Fritos for my lunch. Again- lack of planning. I was out doing errands & stopped to get my car washed & realized that it was going to be a long wait & I was famished so choose the snack item that was at least low in sugar. Oh well, not the worst thing in the world .

A nice day here in Florida. A bike ride this morning & some house cleaning.

I got a phone call this am that I won a prize - it was a lottery that I bought tickets for at the garden fest on Saturday. I won a bunch of stuff including a golf outing, pillows (?), gift certificates for a bunch of places . Have to pick everything up in an hour. My lucky day!

Having a Blue Apron meal tonight. The great thing is knowing that I have the ingredients for the meal.

Hope it is a stellar day where you are.

horn_of_plenty on 02/04/2019:
a bag of fritos is ok with overall calories. could have been good if you had a few deli slices of turkey with it!

congrats on the prize! awesome!!! love new pillows!

enjoy your blue apron meal...can't wait to hear more about it!

SilverySparkles on 02/04/2019:
We like Hello Fresh, but haven't tried Blue Apron. I think they are similar.

Donkey on 02/05/2019:
Florida... *sigh* Are the summers unbearably hot?

Having a food kit is a good idea. I should ask my mom if she's considered doing that.

Hi-

Can’t say I had a great day yesterday. Lack of good planning and a lunch out that could have been better. January had been a no alcohol month & so to celebrate February, I had a gin & tonic- ok- I had two, but with diet tonic. So, that was yesterday

Today a nice bike ride around the neighborhood ( I’m in Florida) and then a walk around a garden fest.

I’m tracking on My Fitness Pal and have a good amount of calories & carbs left for some low fat chips to have with the game. Haven’t planned dinner yet but am subscribing to Blue Apron & have 3 healthy meals to choose from. Might go with the pork recipe with 470 calories.

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday!

SilverySparkles on 02/03/2019:
I've been looking at some wine bottles for a few days myself.

Horn_of_plenty on 02/03/2019:
i love the diet tonic! very tasty! it's a light drink, just the diet tonic and the gin!

Glad you got out into nature with a walk! I was just in Florida, loved it! Are you near Miami? where are you close to?

That's cool you are subscribing to a healthy delivery service right ? and easy for you to cook up!

I know legcramps on here was also trying a meal home delivery system :)

thinkpositive on 02/04/2019:
I’m in Vero Beach, Noth of West palm. Yes, just reading about leg cramps meal delivery . Have to compare what she’s tried.

legcramps on 02/04/2019:
Yes, I too am giving the home meal delivery a try :) so far, it's been pretty nice to not have to worry about three meals a week. But i've skipped some weeks because either I don't want the meals they offer, or I know i'll be too busy to get them all cooked.

I am so jealous that you were able to get out for a bike ride. I so wish I could do that right now too! But I live in Canada, and in fact we had a weekend snow storm around here, so there will certainly be no outside biking for me anytime soon!

thinkpositive on 02/04/2019:
Now in my third week so have had the benefit of $20 off each order so I’ll see how I feel when I’m paying full price. I’m doing Blue Apron because they have some lower calorie meals.

Hi all-

Just checking in and hoping that everyone is doing well . I was thinking that I was successful when I was accountable  on DD and hope that I can make that happen again.

My challenges are  1. watching carbs and  2. getting out of control with snacking so I will track those two areas.

I will use My Fitness Pal for tracking my food.

My exercise goal is for 2-3 one hour exercise classes and then on off days at least 1/2 hour of walking or biking.

Planning on a successful day one back on DD!

Donkey on 02/02/2019:
Nice to see you again :)

Horn_of_plenty on 02/02/2019:
Welcome back!!! Your goals are very defined and I like how you have an effective plan for getting back towards health / fitness! Instead of saying you want to do something without a plan, your plan is ready for action! very good!

thinkpositive on 02/03/2019:
Thank you. I know how to reach my goal, it’s just a matter of follow through!

Donkey on 02/03/2019:
Are you still using WW?

thinkpositive on 02/03/2019:
Not right now but could go back in the future, I found out that I wasn’t following the plan and hate paying when I’m not following.

HI all,

Just stopping by to say hi to those who have been on DD during 2011-2015. All is well with me. I have been on WW for a while now & although I have not reached my goal I am at least maintaining. Sort of thinking of quitting WW but that is probably a mistake. DD was very helpful to me when I lived overseas and I am grateful to many members who are no longer active. I’ m sure that others have taken over. It’s fun for me to go back to my early DD posts . And honestly, nothing much has changed for me as far as my eating. I have learned a few things along the way and have increased my exercise. Things do not get easier with age, though! Take care and all the best to everyone!

horn_of_plenty on 03/21/2018:
Nice to have you back...and you have intrigued me to look at my own past posts today. i clicked on 2 of them and both were negative...but i have improved TONS since them...both happened to be days where i binged and overate...and since those years, i haven't had nearly a day in at least a couple years since then where i've eaten near the high amounts of calories i was eating then....so there is improvement thank gosh and i no longer overeat with such ease thank gosh!

there are some new DDers and even some oldies still remain on here...a nice balance...welcome back! i was here in the past also 2011-2015!

oh, and yes, even i at 35yrs old see how things don't get easier with age. but we have to keep going.

Maria7 on 03/21/2018:

Hi DD friends,

Doing okay on WW . Well, except for the last few days which I can turn around . Extremely slow weight loss but still a loss every weigh in. The last few days have to do with sugar which I just have to avoid. All Christmas related- cookie exchange & peanut brittle. !! It all starts with one small taste & then it's bad news. Today will be better. Going to stick with WW. Trying to keep my eye on my goal of healthy eating & being a healthier person. Dealing with some knee pain & starting PT today . The knee pain has interfered with exercise so hoping to turn this around.

My best to everyone!

grannyannie on 12/14/2016:
Any loss is good. You're not gaining! Hope your knee heals quickly.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 12/14/2016:
I also do not do well with sugary desserts and treats and like you i do avoid them. I don't like to have a little bc it tends to just start me craving more. You aren't the only one, so just make sure to keep eating your meals / snacks so that you are less tempted to reach for sweets when you are already basically satisfied!

Stick with your WW - but remember that veggies - you can always eat veggies - they will not mess with your points...use veggies as your free...(except for higher cal potatoes which you can work into points...) you keep on going. you are doing well. remember that!

Donkey on 12/17/2016:
Ooo have fun at PT! That helped my knee and foot problems tremendously - and it was fun!

I'm convinced that sugar is my enemy. If I just stay away from it altogether, I do much better. Oh but it's so hard -- those cookies look so pretty!!!

Hi-

Still following WW. Seems to work for me although still slow progress but progress none the less. Some weeks as low as .4 to a high of 2 but have had a loss every week for 9 weeks. So it doesn't feel like a diet as there are no foods that are off limits. It's just a matter of tracking everything and staying within a certain number of points. I actually enjoy the tracking of food & exercise. I'm using a fitbit so having fun trying to get to 10,000 steps on some days. Also I've found a meeting that works for me that is at 7:30 so it doesn't interfere with anything going on during the day.

Thanksgiving will be at a restaurant so no leftover issues. That's good but will miss the smell of turkey roasting & sitting around the family table. I guess I can roast a turkey on another day. Brilliant idea, right?

Now going to read some posts. Hope everyone is doing well.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 11/18/2016:
Slow progress is a thousand times better than no progress. I am the QUEEN of slow. And usually slow for me = lasting success. .4 is a GREAT amount for a loss...half a pound! That means you burned an extra around 1700 calories! A whole day's worth of calories, gone! Way to go. Remember to be proud of your efforts. When you lose 2 lbs, it equals losing approx 4 DAYS worth of calories. that's a ton. I can NEVER ask for 2 lbs loss, it's too much for me to lose in one week unless it's bloating loss / water loss which will come back. Be proud of yourself.

I plan to get a fit bit relatively soon...or, even without it, i try to keep a general idea of if i am active each day (or not). Not always active, but i try to be at least a few days per week :)

I like how you are eating Thanksgiving at a restaurant lol...as long as there were veggies, i would be HAPPY! but, nice at home too. both ways are good ways. Turkey is really healthy - hopefully you can plan to cook one. Maybe there's sales on turkey after thanksgiving! = a better buy for you!

thinkpositive on 11/21/2016:
thanks for the support!

hollybelle on 11/25/2016:
Slow and steady wins the race. I would like a fit bit, I think, too. Don't know how to program them, though! I guess I could learn. :-)

Hi all-

Just checking in . I've been going to WW meetings & tracking on the WW app. So far so good. It's been 6 weeks & I have nothing to brag about but losing a portion of a lb each week. I have increased my exercise which helps . Part of the 6 weeks I was away & was able to stick with the program. What I like about the program is that there is less focus on the scale & more on healthy eating & exercise. It is amazing to see how much weight some of the members have lost. There is a Connect aspect to WW where members post pictures and comments. My plan is to stick with it. Hope all is well with everyone!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 11/07/2016:
You are very motivated, inspired, and reaching your goals. You sound happy and like you are doing well. You inspire me with your positive thinking. Sticking with it is the whole key to success. Do NOT get derailed!

OhioRaven on 11/08/2016:
Good to hear from you again, TP.

Donkey on 11/12/2016:
Slow and steady does it. You have a good plan. Just stay on track and you'll get to your goal. Donkey is cheering you on!
