HI all,

Just stopping by to say hi to those who have been on DD during 2011-2015. All is well with me. I have been on WW for a while now & although I have not reached my goal I am at least maintaining. Sort of thinking of quitting WW but that is probably a mistake. DD was very helpful to me when I lived overseas and I am grateful to many members who are no longer active. I’ m sure that others have taken over. It’s fun for me to go back to my early DD posts . And honestly, nothing much has changed for me as far as my eating. I have learned a few things along the way and have increased my exercise. Things do not get easier with age, though! Take care and all the best to everyone!

horn_of_plenty on 03/21/2018:
Nice to have you back...and you have intrigued me to look at my own past posts today. i clicked on 2 of them and both were negative...but i have improved TONS since them...both happened to be days where i binged and overate...and since those years, i haven't had nearly a day in at least a couple years since then where i've eaten near the high amounts of calories i was eating then....so there is improvement thank gosh and i no longer overeat with such ease thank gosh!

there are some new DDers and even some oldies still remain on here...a nice balance...welcome back! i was here in the past also 2011-2015!

oh, and yes, even i at 35yrs old see how things don't get easier with age. but we have to keep going.

Maria7 on 03/21/2018:
Welcome back. :-)

Hi DD friends,

Doing okay on WW . Well, except for the last few days which I can turn around . Extremely slow weight loss but still a loss every weigh in. The last few days have to do with sugar which I just have to avoid. All Christmas related- cookie exchange & peanut brittle. !! It all starts with one small taste & then it's bad news. Today will be better. Going to stick with WW. Trying to keep my eye on my goal of healthy eating & being a healthier person. Dealing with some knee pain & starting PT today . The knee pain has interfered with exercise so hoping to turn this around.

My best to everyone!

grannyannie on 12/14/2016:
Any loss is good. You're not gaining! Hope your knee heals quickly.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 12/14/2016:
I also do not do well with sugary desserts and treats and like you i do avoid them. I don't like to have a little bc it tends to just start me craving more. You aren't the only one, so just make sure to keep eating your meals / snacks so that you are less tempted to reach for sweets when you are already basically satisfied!

Stick with your WW - but remember that veggies - you can always eat veggies - they will not mess with your points...use veggies as your free...(except for higher cal potatoes which you can work into points...) you keep on going. you are doing well. remember that!

Donkey on 12/17/2016:
Ooo have fun at PT! That helped my knee and foot problems tremendously - and it was fun!

I'm convinced that sugar is my enemy. If I just stay away from it altogether, I do much better. Oh but it's so hard -- those cookies look so pretty!!!

Still following WW. Seems to work for me although still slow progress but progress none the less. Some weeks as low as .4 to a high of 2 but have had a loss every week for 9 weeks. So it doesn't feel like a diet as there are no foods that are off limits. It's just a matter of tracking everything and staying within a certain number of points. I actually enjoy the tracking of food & exercise. I'm using a fitbit so having fun trying to get to 10,000 steps on some days. Also I've found a meeting that works for me that is at 7:30 so it doesn't interfere with anything going on during the day.

Thanksgiving will be at a restaurant so no leftover issues. That's good but will miss the smell of turkey roasting & sitting around the family table. I guess I can roast a turkey on another day. Brilliant idea, right?

Now going to read some posts. Hope everyone is doing well.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 11/18/2016:
Slow progress is a thousand times better than no progress. I am the QUEEN of slow. And usually slow for me = lasting success. .4 is a GREAT amount for a loss...half a pound! That means you burned an extra around 1700 calories! A whole day's worth of calories, gone! Way to go. Remember to be proud of your efforts. When you lose 2 lbs, it equals losing approx 4 DAYS worth of calories. that's a ton. I can NEVER ask for 2 lbs loss, it's too much for me to lose in one week unless it's bloating loss / water loss which will come back. Be proud of yourself.

I plan to get a fit bit relatively soon...or, even without it, i try to keep a general idea of if i am active each day (or not). Not always active, but i try to be at least a few days per week :)

I like how you are eating Thanksgiving at a restaurant lol...as long as there were veggies, i would be HAPPY! but, nice at home too. both ways are good ways. Turkey is really healthy - hopefully you can plan to cook one. Maybe there's sales on turkey after thanksgiving! = a better buy for you!

thanks for the support!

hollybelle on 11/25/2016:
Slow and steady wins the race. I would like a fit bit, I think, too. Don't know how to program them, though! I guess I could learn. :-)

Hi all-

Just checking in . I've been going to WW meetings & tracking on the WW app. So far so good. It's been 6 weeks & I have nothing to brag about but losing a portion of a lb each week. I have increased my exercise which helps . Part of the 6 weeks I was away & was able to stick with the program. What I like about the program is that there is less focus on the scale & more on healthy eating & exercise. It is amazing to see how much weight some of the members have lost. There is a Connect aspect to WW where members post pictures and comments. My plan is to stick with it. Hope all is well with everyone!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 11/07/2016:
You are very motivated, inspired, and reaching your goals. You sound happy and like you are doing well. You inspire me with your positive thinking. Sticking with it is the whole key to success. Do NOT get derailed!

OhioRaven on 11/08/2016:
Good to hear from you again, TP.

Donkey on 11/12/2016:
Slow and steady does it. You have a good plan. Just stay on track and you'll get to your goal. Donkey is cheering you on!

Thought I would stop by to say hello. Sorry for not posting and just stopping in occasionally. Have re joined WW and seem to be on a good track. Realize that to see consistent results that I have to increase my exercise and not go off track with food. I do think that WW has a good program and more focus on healthy eating and not as much emphasis on the scale, So more focus on making good decisions which then hopefully show results on the scale. More talk on changing the mindset. Which I can say is exactly what I need. No matter what it is a struggle and I have to say "no" to foods that get me in trouble. Have cut back on wine as well. Although no foods are off the program. It's just a matter of tracking everything and being honest about everything that I put in my mouth. Now in my 4th week after rejoining and I can see staying on the program for a while. The first time that I joined it was online without meetings. I found a meeting that I like so will stay with that meeting. Also using a fitbit and that is fun to see how many steps I take in the day. Did I read somewhere that we should take 10,000 steps in a day?? That would be hard for me. Yesterday I was only at 7500 & that was including a 2+ mile walk . Hope everyone is doing well.

Horn_of_plenty on 10/09/2016:
Hello! Don't be sorry that you stop by occasionally! We like it any time you post! No worries.

I was reading somewhere that cutting out drinking will, for sure, help a person maintain a lower weight :)

Nice job so far. Yes, it's all in the mindset and easy to get off track and have slip-ups. I've been spending October getting myself back on track. September was a doozy of excitement and some indulgence.

grannyannie on 10/09/2016:
Hope all is well with you!

hollybelle on 10/09/2016:
Hi good to see your post! I liked WW years ago, except they made you weigh in every week. I didn't like that at all. Has that changed?

thinkpositive on 10/09/2016:
Actually I discovered that I need that accountability. I'm just planning to stick with it for a few months at least.

Been in & out of being on track, if you know what I mean. But today is a new day & I am ready to try to put one good day after another. Also, a bit off of my exercise routine. It has been too hot for outside exercise & haven't been to the gym for a week. Today though is cooler so a good day for a walk.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 08/03/2016:
You sound good.

I recently saw a movie called Bad Moms. There was a joke about getting back on the horse, so to speak.... "Get your tits up!"....meaning, forget about feeling bad about things & keep charging ahead and make things happen! you can do it. welcome back to getting back on track.

puddles on 08/03/2016:
Today is a new start that is how we make it work. Have a great day.

Getting back on track . Except that today I had a dental procedure so just soft foods. So it will be a different kind of day for food. Soup, smoothie, mashed potatoes... Oh & a little bit of ice cream.

Decided not to get on the scale this week. Concentrate on eating within my calories & watching carbs . That is one thing that I learned on the new weight watcher plan- to not just concentrate on the scale.

Duaa123. on 07/25/2016:
Have a nice day

Horn_Of_Plenty on 07/26/2016:
yeah as long as you make right choices, the scale moves and you don't need it at the beginning to mess with your mind when it doesn't move right away!

i hope your dental procedure goes ok!

Back home after a nice long visit with my mother & niece & her family. Wasn't as good as I had planned as far as food, but ready to get back on track.

Very hot here as it is in most of the country. Thankfully have a good a/c so am comfortable at home. Going to an outdoor event tonight though & not looking forward to an uncomfortable evening. Also a food event so I'm at the mercy of others who are bringing food, I'll just pick & choose.

Horn_of_plenty on 07/25/2016:
but when going to food events, you can always bring veggies for everyone...a veggie platter. this is what i do...and my friends end up loving it! they always finish it off with me!

Now in the Midwest . Trying to watch calories & carbs . Have had a couple of glasses of wine & a few extra snacks but doing well with meals. Doing a lot of walking. No scale in sight so will do the best I can. Today back to posting my foods using my food app.

puddles on 07/18/2016:
Sounds like you are keeping things under control. Have a great day.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 07/18/2016:
good idea to do the right thing at mealtime :-D good idea i'd say...to enjoy some snacks but stick to healthier / lighter options at meals.

enjoy your time there, i've never been!

Nothing big to report. Staying on track, Might have had too much fruit. Last night went to an outdoor concert with the family & brought cupcakes for a birthday & fruit for me & everyone else. So there was quite a bit of fruit left & I seem to have finished the blueberries & raspberries tonight. Oh well, probably okay.

Golf today. Very humid so by about the 3rd hole everything that I had on was stuck to my body. I did play a bit better than the last time so I was happy with that.

One more day & then leave for MN to visit my mother.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 07/15/2016:
i bet! boy has it been hot weather lately with temps in NY in the 90's! i bet those clothes were soaked on you, mine would be too. good exercise though :-D

fruit sounds really tasty. i love raspberries. so sweet :-D...

What kind of concert was it? i love a nice outdoor concert. I have a love for music performance as i used to perform!

thinkpositive on 07/15/2016:
It was a zydeco concert- not my favorite music but a fun night.

Horn_of_plenty on 07/17/2016:
