So now finishing the 2nd week of my weight management program and have come to the conclusion that this is a great maintenance program. So 2 days ago tweaked the program so I won't have as many carbs. What works for me is between 100-150 carbs each day which isn't real low but on the Plate plan I was eating closer to 200 carbs. Too many for me. I'll be weighing in soon & find out if I lost this week. I'm going to stay with it just because it makes me accountable for a weigh in and we do discuss other things like portion control and healthy eating. I have had a great week for exercise- only took one day off, Other wise 1/2 hr- 1 hour each day. Still looking to make some inroads on this 10 lb goal.

I do the same I keep my carbs around 100. I rather do that then cut them out of my plan. Looking forward to see how it worked out for you weight wise. I am sure it will have made a good difference. Have a great evening.

I think that's a good range, that's what I aim for on most days although I do go closer to 200 sometimes. Good for you for tweaking things to meet your own needs and sticking with the program!

I'm in the second week of my 6 week diet program. Lost one pound the first week. Somewhat disappointed but then had to remember that I did have a few "off" meals and maybe hadn't exercised as much as I could have. This isn't a fast weight loss plan anyway so 1 1/2 lb is about all to expect. Funny story- In this weight management program there are somewhere around 15 women. During the weekly session we get weighed in. So as we're standing in line I hear the coordinator , nutritionist, counseling women after they got weighed in & it sounds like no one had lost weight. Now my turn comes & I was upset to find that I had gained a pound. Well as it turned out the scale was not properly calibrated & when we weighed in on the onther scale I had lost a pound. So this week is going well- so far. What is going well is - 1. I have not been snacking other than the snacks that I'm allowed on the plan. 2. no wine this week & I don't feel deprived 3. feeling in control of my eating 4. getting used to eating a bit less 5. getting in a half hour of exercise every day.

So hoping my success will carry me through to another successful day.

Those are all wonderful improvements and a success! I've been losing really slowly this go around too and as long as I'm moving in the right direction and not feeling deprived, I'm happy. Keep up the good work!

Hi all,

Doing well on my 6 week diet plan. It's only been four days but it's been manageable and I've been able to stay away from snack foods. EXCEPT for sleep! Anyone know why I wake so early.? I know it has something to do with what I'm eating . Is it the number of calories? This plan calls for about 1400 calories which isn't super low. It's not low carb but is lower in fat. Any thoughts?

I'm willing to sacrifice some sleep for weight loss but not for a long period of time.

So I'm eating 3 meals of about 300 calories with 2 snacks of around 200 calories. My big sacrifice is staying away from wine which I'm not happy about but I'm sure even a small glass will slow down weight loss.

Trying to exercise every day for at least 30 minutes.

Will give a weight update when I weigh in on Tuesday.

I have experienced poor sleep when eating what i guess is too low calories for me. If i did a few days of 1200, no doubt i'd have screwy sleep. even calories at 1400 does it to me - but it also depends when i eat & what i eat. If i have only liquids for dinner, i will surely be up and hungry...One glass of wine will not hamper your weight loss very much.

Glad you found a program you can live with--sounds like good support as well!

I can go on and on about sleep--haha! If you've been used to drinking alcohol right before bed it may be that you're going through a period of withdrawal/adjustment and it's just a matter of time for your system to acclimate to the change.

I'm a 100% happy camper with my CPAP therapy since being diagnosed with sleep apnea about 5 years ago. I get GREAT restorative sleep about 99.999% of the time:-)

I hope you figure it out--it's miserable to have sleep issues of any kind!

I've had disrupted sleep patterns when going extremely low carb and during my vegan experiment. So I'm guessing it has something to do with your body adjusting to this new way of eating. It could have something to do with the wine too, but I bet your body will adjust pretty soon. Keep up the good work!

Finding that I have not been having success on my own, decided to enroll in a 6 week weight managment program offered at a local hospital. Attended my first session yesterday & will attend once a week for 6 weeks. Based on nutritional standards & not so much counting calories but based on a small dinner plate being filled 1/2 vegetables, 1/4 of the plate ,or 3 oz of protein & small portion of carbs + fruit & nonfat milk. I'm "thinking positive" about this program & need the accountability of weighin in once a week. It's all women , around a dozen of us , some with more to lose than me but many about the same size. I happen to know the woman, a nutritionist, who runs the program & respect her. She has a nice manner & is supportive. I'll be letting you know how this works for me. The difference for me is eating more protein for breakfast & eating more vegetables & less protein for dinner. And of course only nutritious snacks. That will be my challenge. Oh, & I don't remember wine being mentioned!

Will find time later to respond to posts. Wish me luck on this program!

Yesterday was a good day- pretty much taking it easy after Thursday oral surgery.

B- oatmeal , Lunch- tomato soup, bread w/ p.b. Dinner- broccoli/cheddar soup, snacks- apple sauce, 2 squares of chocolate, yogurt, orange

Exercise- housework

Busy this week so just catching up. Today on a "soft" diet as I had a tooth pulled. i was a mess thinking about it so glad it's over with & going to follow post-op instructions so that I won't have any problems. Ice, pain medications, salt water rinses, antibiotics

Today - toast before dental procedure , butternut squash soup, applesauce, ice cream, yogurt

Exercise - spotty this week- treadmill on Tues, & a 50 min walk on Wed, resting today.

I was hoping that his would be a great week for weight loss but it's not looking that way- but the week isn't over yet!

Good Monday morning-

It was a nice weekend. Not a perfect weekend but at least maintained the loss of the last week. Nothing to get excited about as the loss was the gain of the last month. Still no real planned exercise except for snow shoveling & ice chipping. Although I'm not minimizing that as exercise. We have ice like a glacier outside the garage & I'm still shoveling paths from our time away in Feb.

Sunday- B- toast w/ smart balance, L- squash soup & crackers, D- Pork, eng muff, cole slaw, wine, Snacks- peanuts, 2 squares of chocolate. Hmm- seems like I'm missing something. Came to around 1400 when I posted on LoseIt.

Anyone else use the LoseIt app? I Really like it. it stores your food so it's easy to pull up foods that you eat frequently. You can put the ingredients of a recipe & it calculates your serving.

I'm not posting my weight here because it makes me too crazy. Up a pound, down a few , up again. Just not serving a good incentive for me. I will say that I am setting a 10 lb goal. Although I have a lot more to lose than that, ten is a doable goal for now.

It is at times a up and down journey that we are one but if we stay on the journey it starts going our way.

I'm crossing my fingers we won't have to do another ice chipping - I am SO done with snow removal :P It's supposed to stay above freezing this week so hopefully we just get some good melting. Good for you for staying on track this weekend!

Friday was not the day I had planned but that's life. Called for a dentist appt & since they could take me right away , there went my gym class. & then went to the oral surgeon for a consult in the p.m. Turns out that my last dentist didn't take care of a few dental problems so need to have a wisdom tooth pulled & three teeth need major work. At least I feel that I have a good dentist now & will have the needed work taken care of. Thnk positive, right? !

Meals yesterday- B- wh toast, L- salad & soup out at restaurant , D- Thai restaurant- vegetabes & chicken Snacks- gl of wine, peanuts, piece of chocolate

No idea about calories. Fairly healthy meals . Always think there are hidden calories in those Thai meals.

Will try to get some exercise in this weekend.

Another decent day -

B- fruit & almond milk smoothie, L- tom/basil soup, small piece of toast, handful of cashews, 2 slices of turkey; D- leftover African stew; Snacks- peanuts, 100 calorie ice cream bar; 2 pieces of chocolate

Exercise- just floor stretches

Happy about- keeping calories in check, eating mostly healthy food, eating small portions, no wine

Today- more exercise

hey! I like your eats. just like you, I am eating more nuts (even if it's in the form of peanut butter) and fattier foods including full fat yogurt and also avocado. Seems these foods are more satisfying than their low fat and no fat counterparts.

Good day yesterday. B.- wh toast w/ smart balance , L- carrot/ ginger soup. D- African stew w/ chick peas, tomatoes, peanut butter, sweet ptoatoes Snacks- peanuts, sorbet, wine, apple, square of chocolate

Exercise- shoveled a path (long) with all of February's snow, mall walking

Challenges- out with grandchildren for ice cream & ordered sorbet- I guess better choice than ice cream

Feel good about- Having a no meat day, getting in some exercise, having mostly healthy snacks. Scale showed down one of the pounds gained in Feb.

Now to make it two good days in a row!
