Hi all-

Not so good yesterday.   :(  Doing much better today and hoping to get back to a healthier pattern of eating.

 Yesterday had a good workout on the treadmill & remembered why I changed to the elliptical- the treadmill is way too hard on my knees & shins. Today just some outside yard work for about 2 hours.

Good to be here in the US and to see friends & family. Tonight will go to a movie with a friend & then for a bite to eat.Going to avoid the movie snack food & bring a fresca along to the movie.

Hi all

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Mine was super. We had my daughter here with husband and 2 grandchildren. So very busy and chaotic but fun. For Christmas day my other daugter came with her family & mother inlaw so we had 11 for dinner. The grandchildren played and ran around the house- in & out -hide& seek is a favorite.

Today was clean up, packing up for my daughter & family. Sad because I'm not sure if i'll see them again on this trip which means a long time- June probably- before I see them again.

I can't say I was proud of my eating unless you call eating everything in sight a positive thing. :) ( What had I said about discipline? Yeah- somehow that didn's stick inmy mind!)

Again- that was yesterday & tomorrow is another day. I'll clean out all food that might be bad to have in the house.

I did go for an hour walk today which was just great- blue sky, cool but not cold.

Going to watch a movie on tv with my husband & will read some posts tomorrow.

I'm glad you're enjoying your time here, and the weather has been nice, until this afternoon! I think it may have foiled my skiing plans, but I know a lot of people prefer the rain to snow :)

doing ok- up and down- have to work harder on the down side! I was up yesterday due to pizza out withe the grandchildren - well, pizza plus wings & fried eggplant+ a beer ( no not for the grandchildren :)  ) Funny as I was eating my pizza I looked across at a woman eating a salad- hmm- the thing is I would have enjoyed that just as much as the pizza. But we don't eat very much pizza in Singapore so somehow I had the urge for a slice.

Yesterday , bettter- a good brisk walk & smaller & healthier portions. Still have to watch the snack (Harry & David's salty & vinegar almonds- yummy ) portions.

Today will go to church, maybe have the grandchildren over to bake cookies. Dangerous territory- not sure how Moogy handles this all of the time.

Hope everyone is enjoying the pre holiday get togethers. For me i want to enjoy them, maybe indulge a bit without the guilt . So i guess that means some degree of discipline.

We had Mexican buffet at my sis's house yesterday and I did go overboard, but I'll just make up for it. Haven't had my annual pizza yet, but determined to stick with 2 pieces.

I'm so glad you're enjoying some family time! Anything from Harry & David's is dangerous for me ;) The chocolate place was Fascia's in Waterbury. I think I may try Catherine's for Easter since it's closer and just as good (and no free samples as I recall).

The P90x is part of the whole program which is on DVD and pricey. I'm not doing the whole program (and can't afford it to be honest) so I just have some of the classes in AVI format and play them on the computer. This isn't an ideal setup for most, but it works for me since hubby is a tech geek and we have all sorts of stuff hooked up to our television.

If you are looking for something to try at home, I'd recommend the Xtreme Yoga class with Chris Freytag. I got it On Demand through DirectTV, but it's also available on cable. It's in the ExerciseTV section, and you can just get the one class to try it out. It's shorter than the P90x and she really takes her time to explain the moves.

Baking cookies are dangerous territory! I rarely do it, but will be baking later this week. I already know that I won't be able to stop at just one cookie, so they will be shared so I don't eat them all! Have a great time with your family.

Hi from the USA.

Back home safe & sound- well, not so sure about the being sound part as I have jet lag so kind of out of it. It is getting better though.

Home late Tuesday after traveling for about 24 hours! Did get upgraded to business class so I really can't complain about  the comfort level. Tried to watch what I ate on the plane but did have too many nuts ( do enjoy those warmed nuts that they serve) and wine. But that's yesterday's news.

Have seen our grandson's winter concert and put up the Christmas tree. This afternoon will pick up our grandchildren & have pizza with them.

Trying to buy healthy food & have carrots & hummus & fruit for snacks.

I think the travel weight is coming off & hope to get back to posted weight & hold steady until after the holidays.

Our yard is a mess with tree limbs down & some tops of trees broken & just hanging - all due to the Halloween storm- Umpqua knows all about this. And this is after our landscape guy spent two days hauling downed branches out of the yard for pickup.

That's the news for now! Hope everyone's hoilday preparations & travel are going well.

Other wise the house seems to have held up fine for the three months that I've been gone.

Welcome home! Sorry to hear your yard is in such bad shape, we really lucked out and didn't have too much damage. We have one halfway down sumac tree near the house that hubby is leaving until spring in the hopes the robins will visit and put on a show for us in Jan/Feb haha. Have fun with your family!

Doing Ok - really just trying to maintain at this point  which is not so easy.

Today was a luncheon after our final docent training meeting. Fun lunch - all Peranakan food which is part Chinese, part Malay & part Indonesian. Mostly spicy- beef, chicken, lamb or mutton here, and then various desserts- not so sweet but some with coconut, some very thin layered cakes. I've had some of them  at various functions as the museum where I'll be guiding is the Peranakan museum.Tried to eat more vegetable and fruits than heavy foods.

My sister inlaw left very early this morning so life is back to normal , more or less. Although since we are leaving very early on tues. it'll be a bit hectic to get ready to leave plus I have  2 concerts left.

It looks like the cakes are about 120 per ball and very filling. I've read they're an acquired taste but they look yummy to me!

Didn't realize that so much time had gone by without posting. Just been busy and have my sister in law here for a visit so have been out & about most of the day.

Haven't been the best about eating & the scale is giving be feedback on that. So need to pay more attention to the extras that add up- like ice cream in the evening & a few more snacks.

I leave for home in a week!! I'm not mentally prepared for that but can't wait. I know that things will be hectic when I get home.Getting the house ready for Christmas, sending out cards, you know how it is- I'll just be doing it with jet lag!

Hope everyone is well- I'll catch up with some postings.

Whoops- wrote out an entry & somehow deleted it!

Had a decent eating weekend- except for the piece of cheesecake that I shared with my husband.

Exercise- mostly walking- lots of walking on Sat., Friday went to the gym, & today took it easy. Back to the gym tomorrow.

Otherwise- did well with my speech & paper- got some nice comments back from the evaluator & now will start on my final paper.

My sister-inlaw comes on Thursday so I'd like to have my work out of the way.

Also my choir concerts start this week & It's fun but just a bit of pressure - the concerts are all over the place so it's always a challenge to find some of these addresses- the taxi drivers don't always know either. we sing for 2 club holiday luncheons- always at nice hotels & then sing for a hospice, nursing home & a special education school.

AND - the coundown begins for my trip home on Dec 13 th . :)  Looking forward to seeing my family & friends.

And this Thanksgiving season I'm thankful for the support of my DD friends!

P.S. I have gotten those butterball boneless turkeys before and they are good. Hope you liked it, too. Before I did the dinner for the whole family I made those and I made them during the year, too. Good for leftovers to put in casseroles, etc.

 Hi all  & Happy Thanksgiving to all  DD friends-

Today is Thanksgiving  & I had decided to ignore the traditional meal but this morning had a change of heart & made my way to the local grocery store thinking I would get a chicken but found a Butterball boneless breast- called freezer to oven ready. OK so it's in the oven & not not like having a real turkey but should be fine. Picked up all the fixings including cranberry sauce & an apple tart. Sart with a shrimp cocktail.

I think I'm doing it so I don't sound so pathetic to my family when they ask what we're doing on Thanksgiving.

Today I walked for about an hour and a half. Back to the museum to get ready for my paper. Pretty soon i will know that place blindfolded. I always meet one of my fellow classmates at the museum- we're all in the same boat so It's fun to share our ideas.

I just came from a very large lunch out with a group. I tried to stick to the lower calorie choices on the menu but did have soup to dessert with wine so will just have soup for dinner.

Yesteday went well with  my 7 minute speech. I knew the material well & as I was giving my speech in the gallery about 15  people came in and surrounded me - so not easy to concentrate. I did fine & "passed" but had a couple of minor revisions before I could upload my paper. That's OK it was  a learning process & i was less intent on being perfect & more concerned with learning to do this museum guiding process right.

Now i have to get ready to write my final paper which I want to do in this next week as my sister in law is coming for a visit on the first.

Exercise hasn't been great but have been walking. I'll get to the gym tomorrow.

Hope all is well.

Well, by some miracle I did drop one lb. so I was a happy person today. And will give me incentive for the week.

busy today getting ready for my 7 minute speech tomorrow for my museum class. Also should be practicing my music as we have concerts coming up.

Sleep has been better theses past few days. I'm giving nutella a break. :) I think that contributed to my problem.

Had a late night last night- went to the Elton John concert which was great- maybe lacked a little complared to when I saw him with  Billy Joel. But then he is aging as is his band.

Had an eye appointment today- being "watched" for glaucoma.Everything is stable but I have to be seen every 6 months.  Hey it's not fun getting old.....

It's also not easy living here in Singapore as far as food goes. After my eye appointment I decided to be to the lower level of the building I was in to see what was in the Marketplace. Well about every food that I would love to eat is what was there. All just there for the taking. And i did buy some little desserts made of tapioca & probably palm sugar- I know not smart but I don't thing too bad either.

Ok will read some posts & then back to my homework!
