Hi,

I think my body wants to stay at this weight. My probelm - just not super motivated to count calories & get in some extra exercise. No excuses.

No, I'm not giving up - or giving in.

I was hopeful of dropping a lb this week but it doesn't happen without more work than I have been willing to put in.

My plan- I will begin again to write down my food & calories & try to stick to 1400 calories.

Sleep was terrible this week- up at 3 am one day & very early another day. This moring up at 5 which isn't terrible but not enough sleep.

I've been very busy - I have 2 papers & a talk to give on Tues. so doing research & writing. The papers have to be done a  specific way & have to be a certain number of words so lots of editing.

I am excited about going to see Elton John. I got tickets just yesterday for Sun. night concert so not sure about the seats but loved seeing him with Billy Joel some years ago. He's a great entertainer.

I hope everyone is doing  well!

Good plan on the 1400 per day...it seems easy to get complacent after we've gotten so far in our journeys and sometimes we get too comfortable and GAIN weight back....(not you, of course, but it has happened to yours truly time and time again). :-D

Hi-

I'm not seeing much progress on the scale but am hopeful to see a loss by the end of the week. I've been eating rice cakes for a snack but thenadding peanut butter & nutella. Have three or four of those in a day & it all adds up !. Which I believe is the reason why I'm awake at 3:30 am.- the nutella.

Other than that - not alot to report. Today is a busy day with my museum class in the morning & then choir rehearsal after that. Today I will have time for some lunch in between. Usually i'm running from one to the other & having something slightly unhealthy to eat to tide me over.

Hope you are all having a good day. And I hope I make it through mine with 4 hours of sleep...

Thanks for your comments! I love nutella but I couldn't have it in the house. I'm amazed that I've been able to ration the pb! Have a good day and get some good sleep!

I can't keep Nutella in the house either, I get into serious trouble. I did peanut butter and dark chocolate chips on a rice cake once and it made a really great and filling snack - maybe that's a less caffeinated option. Have a good one!

Oh nutella, so delicious! Peanut butter is one of my all time favorites, so I don't have that around either. I'd be eating way too much of it. Hope you have a great day.

Hi-

Just reporting that i'm back to pre -trip weight & down by a bit so I'm encouraged by that.

I have been trying to watch & eat healthy foods but still not where I was before- a work in progress still. It would be an incentive to lose a few lbs before my Christmas trip home. I'll try to keep that in mind.

Exercise has been walking, swimming & one day this week at the gym. Somedays I'm on my feet for so many hours that I can't even think about going to the gym. I guess that's where swimming comes in. The condo complex has a gigantic pool & yesterday I had it to myself which was very relaxing.

Tomorrow we're going to a PGA tournament & we'll probably follow Phil Mickelson assuming that he makes the cut. We went last year & were so surprised at how close the tournament was to where we live. I think it was less than a 20 min taxi ride away.

 I'm in right now for the afternoon after being in the museum this morning learning about the foods of the area & various gods. Then a taxi ride to Chinatown where we got caught in a downpour. Even with an umbrella we got soaked.

That's the news from this side of the world. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

You are doing great! The christmas trip was my (extra) motivation as well as the big birthday soon after. It helps to have an event or date to aim for. Scotland - I know the boat you mean on Loch Lomond. It's a different type of boat from my photo as my pic is the last paddle steamer left - built in 1947.

thats fun to go to a PGA tournament!!! Yes, veganaise is a vegan alternative to mayo... Its sold in the natural section of some grocery stores... Look for it in the refridgerated section, not on the shelf with the mayo... Its a really good swap... I cannot tell the difference!

Good job getting your weight back down and on your swimming, etc.

I echo your comments to me about the site, I know I would have regained without posting here fairly regularly over the years.

As for who started the site, it was someone named Adam. (You can still look up his diary from the directory.) He sort of let the site go to pot at some point and someone else bought it from him from what I understand. The new owner/webmaster has been very responsive when the site goes down.

Ok- I know I can't  have cookies in the house. I was doing really well yesterday & then discovered the box of cookies that I had put in the freezer. Whoops.Had to throw them out - well the ones I didn't eat!

So no damage done but no progress either. Today- sunflower toast for breakfast; tomato soup for lunch; planned to have an apple for snack, fish , rice, broccoli for dinner & yogurt for late snack.

My plan was to work on a paper for my museum program today  but can't seem to get started. Maybe I'll go for a swim first.

Thanks for the comments! I'm anxious for the trip as well. We fly to Amsterdam first and spend the night, so won't arrive in the US until the 14th. I know about cookies - can't have any in my house - I've thrown out a few packs!

Hi-

I need to get back on track. And to start writing down everything I'm eating & calorie counts. I haven't been doing this for the last 2 weeks.

Eating has been so-so. Still need to get rid of a 1 lb vacation gain & then start losing again.

I've been busy with my museum course. Today i had to give a 5 minute talk which doesn't seem like a big deal but it takes me  awhile to memorize the material & make it flow & not be deadly dull.And in 2 weeks I have a 4 page paper due & another 5-7 minute talk. So I need to get busy & spend more time in the museum. It's fun though &  I'm with interesting & nice people. Of course in the end I will be giving a 1 hour tour which is  a bit scary. But that won't be until after I return from Christmas break.

Speaking of which- my christmas break- i made my reservation so will be returning to the US on Dec 13 & then return on Jan 17. That will be a nice visit.

I'm thinking of not bothering with Thansgiving this year. last year we had three different Thanksgiving parties but since I'm not up to having a group here for Thanksgiving I'd just as soon skip it. Without family around it's just a turkey. And I don't mean to sound so pathetic and don't feel sorry for me. Just how I feel at the moment.

So I am so pleased with my two clients I have..Both really determined and motivated..I am taking it slow with building a client base..I am not an aggressive person and my Mantra is working with the willing :) Although this is an opportunity to supplement my income, I am not trying to force my ideas, products, supplements on anyone.. I am currently researching places to have weekly "Fit Club" meetings( showcase beachbody workouts, give out Shakeology samples, complete a cardio workout with the attendees)This might take some time and some strategic planning and of course some cash for the use of a facility..My goal is to get it going within the first half of the new year :) Anyhoo LOL you so don't sound pathetic in regards to Thanksgiving, since it always falls on a Thursday I am at work, now that is pathetic! hahaha just kidding.. For me Thanksgiving is just not the same without my immediate fam so I am saving my holiday yayas til my trip home for Xmas :) have a good day!!

I think it was Mark Twain who said it takes 3 weeks to give a good impromptu speech. So I completely understand that even 5 minutes takes tons of time to prepare for. Your course sounds interesting.

I would probably skip all the Thanksgiving food hoopla as well if I didn't have some of my immediate family members around. I say do whatever you like!

 Hi-

Hey you all- thanks for the nice comments on the pictures. Yes it was a fun trip & sometimes I can't believe that i live here in SE Asia & can see so many wonderful countries. I also know that our time here is limited so want to take advantage of our time.

Today we received a painting that we purchased in Hanoi. So cool to have a painting from an artist from Vietnam.

Re: weight managment- hmmmmm- well, thought I was doing well- lost one vacation pound but then this evening my brain was not attached & ate some potato chips & other snacks along with 2 glasses of wine. So start again tomorrow. Right? Seriously I don't even care about potato chips but they were here  ( my husband) & I just had this craving. Oh well..

If I were back in CT i would still be without power.  My daughter & family are now one week without electricity. As Umpqua said you really appreciate the comforts of home when this happens. I had a touch of it in August-or was it Sept. when the hurrican came through & we were without power for a few days.

Hope everyone is doing well.

That's crazy that your house and your daughter's house are still without power! Yes, I definitely think the state was overwhelmed by this storm, I don't remember another one as bad as this in my lifetime. I guess the cold temps really made everything worse.

Potato chips happen sometimes haha! I'm sure you'll get right back on track.

Hi-

Back from my big trip to Vietnam & Laos. It was a great trip- Hanoi was great- a chaotic city with motorbikes everywhere , beeping horns,it's a art to cross the road; a great time in Halong Bay on a little boat- a junk- with 3 other people- did some kayaking & swimming there; Sapa , a town in Northern Vietnam was pretty with terraced rice filelds but a bit disappointing with the local women constanlty following us wanting us to buy from them- " What your name?", "Where you from", - it got to be a little much.Luang Prabang was a delightful town with many temples and monks, markets and great restaurants. We took a boat ride up the Mekong River to see a cave and stopped at a acouple of towns. Had many nice meals, 2 massages, bought a designer handbag in Hanoi ( where Hillary Clinton has shopped) , bought a gong for our apartment and a painting plus the usual souvenirs.

On the weight management side- didn't count calories but tried to be mindful of what I was eating. the breakfast buffets were the hardest- the French pastries won out I'm afraid. Bottom line though was a 2 lb gain which I will get rid of soon.

I will post pictures but need some instruction. I looked around the site & didn't see where to upload pictures. Maybe someone can help?

oh, that sounds like a great trip! I can't seem to post pics anymore either. I used to be able to when making a post. I would click on the button that looked like a clipboard and then paste the picture, but it doesn't work anymore, so I don't know how to help you. Sorry. But I did love reading about your trip! I'm glad you made it back safely, and I am glad you enjoyed the French Pastries...sometimes the extra calories are worth it. And you will take it off again soon. :)

I am totally in it to help others meet their fitness goals above all. My client that I am currently working with is a new mother of TWINS!! I am so lucky that she lives nearby(most clients are out of state).. Anyhoo I am so thankful that I can also have the chance to workout with her if she needs that extra boost or watch the babies if she needs some workout time :) I am so excited!! Hi-

Not sure what was going on with me but yesterday was a bad eating day. Breakfast, fine then snack time during my museum training & I over did it with some pastry. Not thinking  & then the day went on like that. OK- up a bit today which is going in the wrong direction for sure.

So in the gym this morning & being careful of eating today & should be back on track.

I leave Friday for a 10 day trip to Vietnam & Laos which I am looking forward to . I should be able to find healthy food where we're going. We're staying at nice hotels with good restaurants so I'm sure they will serve salads & fish. I have to watch breakfast because they have nice buffets for breakfast which can be deadly in the calorie department.

Will try to log in at least once before I leave.

Sounds like an amazing trip! When I am on vacations, I allow myself an additional 500 calories per day (gain 1 lbs. in one week). But otherwise I get frustrated and just give up and eat whatever I want and tend to gain even more. So, maybe consider that. Have a great trip!

Hi-

Just a quick log in. It 's been a busy week with my museum training program. I have to write a 4 page paper & give a 5 min. talk on Tues. so that's been keeping me busy . Plus my husband has had a business friend visiting so dinners out & here.

Just returned from a golf outing. Hot & sweaty- that about sums it up. Need a gallon of water to recover. Good to play & I did hit a few decent balls. Also some real duds but oh well....

Holding my own with my weight. Went our for dinnerlast night & had pasta which usually send my weight up but did ok with the scale this morning. Will eat lighter today.

Hope all is well. I'll find a few minutes - in between writing - to respond to posts.

You're still doing great! Hope you're enjoying the museum training. As for a sample of cheese...not sure I can do that. It's a bit like having just one chip or one bite of chocolate. My hub said I can get out of drinking too much wine by saying I'm designated driver. The house is only a mile away and we can walk, but it'll be cold and probably rainy.
