(counting calories, exercise)
Weight: 177.0

 Hi all-

I'll have to figure out what's going on with me & my weight loss plan. I'm not making any more promises here I'm just going to say that today I will try harder to write down food & calories. My exercise is fine. More gym time would be good but I walk about on hour a day- sometimes more which is fine.

I have been eating food that did not even tempt me before which is not a good sign. But as t I said I will try harder to not give in to these temptations.

Today- Breakfast- muesli/milk  , lunch will be salad with tuna , dinner - not planned - will have fish in some form, snacks- yogurt, mango, wine

Exercise- gym time this afternoon?, after dinner walk

Hope all is well with you fine people!

Progress as of today: 14 lbs lost so far, only 17 lbs to go!

Here is an idea..Even if you don't log them here you can put a mini dry erase board/fridge magnet on your fridge door..It is convenient and also everytime you open the fridge a reminder will be there :) I hope you have a wonderful day!!! Oh in re of Charlie Sheen I too am disgusted however he was my first celeb crush ;) I loved him in Platoon and of course his Cameo in Ferris Beuler...I only admire him from afar...LOL

One day at a time is the way I do it. If I think to far ahead I just get dejected and give into my urges. It does sound as if you are in a bit of a funk - just like me. However, I have a plan, I am sticking to it and shall be back on my treadmill tomorrow:)

 Hi all-

Well not exactly a calorie counting weekend. Not terrible but seriously did not write down my calories.

Here's the scene- My husband & I are in a design museum- all kinds of new products, state of the art- and on the floor is a scale so my husband steps on it & weighs himself & then says "Our scale in 1Kg high. Last time I went to the Dr. & got weighed I went straight home & weighed myself on our scale & it was I Kg higher."  So when i got back to S'Pore I was thinking I had way over done it on the travel food & drink & all along the scale reads high! Oh well...

So tomorrow is Monday - a new week , new challenges but I will be writing down my calories , planning my meals and exercise!

Hope your weekends are going well.

Progress as of today: 14 lbs lost so far, only 17 lbs to go!

grannyannie on 09/18/2011:
I overdid when we had guests for dinner last night, but back to counting today. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 09/18/2011:
ahhh, just go by the scale you always use! you are gonna be ok! it sounds like you are having a very nice and eventful weekend. plus, you are getting lots of walking in!

V on 09/18/2011:
Hahaha!!! No I've never heard it and I love it!!! teehee :)

hollybelle on 09/18/2011:
Sometimes you gotta have a break and let go of counting, but get back to it on Monday!

moogy on 09/18/2011:
I love a woman with a plan and yours sounds like just the thing you need to get you focused. While you are doing your planning how about measuring yourself so that you don't have to depend on the scale to know if you have lost weight?? Hope you have a good week thinkpositive:)

moogy on 09/18/2011:
Well!! Thinking is a good thing, I wonder why you are resistant to the measuring.?? Interesting!!

biscottibody59 on 09/19/2011:
Oh, I so get the tribulations with the scale. I recently replaced mine--the old one just seemed to be more reliable, but I had to shine a lamp on it (solar cell) to work it--I now regret getting rid of it, but we all have to move on from these things--haha.

I'm still kinda moving on--the fact that my wt moved DOWN last week (after seeming weeks of up or no movement) was a vote of confidence for me keeping it--haha!

Have a great week!

Good game plan for the week. Have a good one.

Hi all-

I write this with a happy tummy :) I haven't figured out the calories on lunch but it was so delicious - tomatoes w/ mozzerella on lovely young lettuces&  more than a drizzle of o&v and then I somehow couldn't resist- panna cotta- all with beautiful berries and little dabs of chocolate around the rim of the plate. . I just looked it up & of course it's made with cream. Anyway I'll enjoy the feeling of a happy tummy & be extra good for the rest of the day.

Maybe it will help that I ate lunch halfway through an hour's walk??  No, let's see maybe 275 calories for walking & I'm guessing 400 or so for the panna cotta so it doesn't exactly equal out. OK no regrets, I'll eat something light for dinner.

Hope you all have a good Friday. Mine is going well!

It would be a good time to visit Perth anytime except between December and March, they have mild Winter's just like we do. Now would be perfect. I did make sure that the children ate all the doughnuts before afternoon tea had finished, I wouldn't have been able to resist either. As you can tell by my diary today the weather is like Summer weather here, no wonder the roses are coming out!!!!

Hi-

Just returned from Ikea & put together a room dividing screen & I feel like I've just had a couple of hours of exercise! I hope not to see Ikea again. We've made many trips to supplement the "fully furnished"  apartment. Luckily my husband puts most things together because evidently I have trouble just screwing in a half dozen screws. Oh well, still looks OK. The screen will hide the pile of luggage that we have in the corner of the kitchen! This place has extremely limited storage.

Anyway , also turns out that Ikea does have decent & cheap food- although  I said I would never eat there again but today the yogurt that I called lunch just didn't make it very long.

So- Breakfast- same toast; Lunch- yogurt, salmon wrap; Dinner- will be beef & vegie stir fry Snacks- banana, almonds, wine, apple, some grapes. Hungry today!

Exercise- gym for 45 min & possibly an after dinner walk.

Thanks for the comments & encouragement! It means alot to me.

Progress as of today: 14 lbs lost so far, only 17 lbs to go!

Umpqua on 09/15/2011:
I love IKEA and I've gotten some really yummy healthy foods from the cafeteria :) Of course they also have those cinnamon buns, which I must avoid at all costs haha. I'm sure the screen looks great! We got our kitchen cabinets for our rental property from there and I assembled each and every one of them myself, it was a definite workout. Have a good one!

glycrina on 09/15/2011:
I love that weird berry drink they have at IKEA. It is probably not healthy though . . .

V on 09/15/2011:
LOVE the Swedish Meatballs :P hahaha!! Okay so to answer your question, I have always been a pretty healthy eater, that was until almost 4 years ago when I gave birth to a son that looked at me and died in my arms...I went through alot of emotions in a "fog" of sorts and somehow snapped out of it to find myself obese, and the worse shape i have ever been in my life...Once idecided to take control again,I went back to my healthy habits and NEVER looked back on the unhealthy habits...I am lucky to have come from such an athletic family, the healthy food and workouts are second nature

moogy on 09/15/2011:
I am with umpqua, I love Ikea, although I have never eaten there. I just love the kitchen/homewares section, I could spend hours meandering through saying, "oooh, I would like this", of course, I usually buy more than I planned and things that I didn't even know I couldn't live without!!!! I have assembled quite of few tall cupboards/wardrobes etc over my time and yes, it is a workout and a test of patience!!:)

biscottibody59 on 09/15/2011:
Ikea lives--without me:-) Glad you got your screen completed--keep up all the good work!

Hi all -

Some information about my museum tour guide course for those interested ( thanks for the interest!)

The museum is the Peranankan Museum which is a museum that features the Peranakan culture here in Singapore. Peranakan is a mix of Chinese ( men) with other cultures- mostly Malay and is an interesting mix that resulted in forming their own culture. So the museum has many interesting artifacts including ceramics, textiles and furniture. The course is a background course in SE Asia including Singapore and also focuses on opportunities for public speaking and guiding.

Today's activity was chorus which is a group of about 30 women who like to  sing- not professional  but we put on a concert before Christmas and also sing at senior citizen homes. So starting today there will be constant Christmas songs in my head as we start practicing for our concert.

The reason for all these activities? I would go just plain mad if I didn't have something to do every day. I have to get out  to see other people and have real conversations.

Today my same boring breakfast- sunflower toast w/ lt butter, snack- orange mango drink at Starbucks, lunch- yogurt & a mango; dinner will be salmon with a dijon topping & asparagus & maybe a small baked potato & glass of white wine.

I did post my new weight - down a 1/2 lb from last posting. What my postings don't show is that my weight was up by 2lbs but for me it's more of on incentive to leave the posting & work to get back to it. May sound crazy but it works for me.

Hope those of you in the US are having a good sleep!

Progress as of today: 14 lbs lost so far, only 17 lbs to go!

nomoreforme on 09/14/2011:

I still say it's the change in altitude!!! Good job on the half pound though, it all counts. The museum sounds wonderful, really interesting get immersed in another culture. The choir sound excellent, I love singing in a choir, amazing what beautiful sounds can be produced by people who have what would be average voices!! I am so happy for you:)

Hi-

I'm having a pretty good day. Today I started my training to a be a museum guide. It will require alot of reading- we received 2 very large binders + 2 books that I'll be reading during the training that goes through December. I'll need to write some papers and be ready to guide a group on an hour tour without notes. So, I have my work cut out for me but I'm excited & the group that I'm training with seems very nice & is an international group of women. The training starts at 8:45 & goes until 1:15. There were snacks offered & I tried to only eat a few healthy snacks as I didnt get home until 1:45 so it was part of my lunch. Well, I'll see how this goes- probably eat a little there & have some soup or salad when I get home.

Exercise today was around 45 min in the gym that included treadmill, elliptical & upper body weights. Yesterday I ended up just walking - it took me an hour to walk home & that was it for me- didnt make it to the gym.

Today- B- sunflower toast w/ lt butter , banana; lunch- 6 bite-sized snacks + soup, yogurt; dinner will be a chicken dish with chillies & cashews that I learned in my cooking class last week.

Hope everyone is having a good week!

Progress as of today: 13.5 lbs lost so far, only 17.5 lbs to go!

KayBee on 09/13/2011:
wow, great day indeed. Museum guide, that sounds pretty awesome! My step-sister wants to be one, too... I hope she won't give her dream up, she's having lotsa pressure on her nowadays.

grannyannie on 09/13/2011:
What kind of museum will you be a guide in? Sounds very interesting! Your chicken dish sounds delish! (my orange mango drink is just a bottled concentrate that I buy which has some artificial sweetener, and almost no calories. I dilute it and it's very refreshing, especially with a spicy curry.)

Maria7 on 09/13/2011:

V on 09/13/2011:
OMG??? I am so happy for you :) I would love a job like that!! You are going to be a wonderful guide :) You are winding down for the evening by now..9:57 pm...I added Singapore to my world clock on my phone when you went back :)

Sounds like a nice adventure with the museum thing:-) Good luck to you!

I appreciate your comments re: the second opinion. I'm always telling other people to do that. I hope I don't have to be the one to resort to it this time.

Good job with the exercise! Enjoy your evening/day!

What a wonderful job, I mean the only people coming will be those that are interested in every word you say!!!! You certainly don't let the grass grow under your feet do you??? Yes, blondies are brownies with white chocolate. I freeze some of the baking I do, but if it is a particularly tempting treat it goes downstairs for recess or dessert:)

Hi-

Hoping to make some progress this week. I think that I have my exercise routine down & will get to the gym 3-4 x this week and walk in between. Now I need to focus more on my meals & snacks. I tend to eat when bored & there is alot of down time here but that may change this week as my activities start up this week.

The weekend went pretty well except for the box of  sweet popcorn that I ate at the movies.( We saw Contagion that I don't really recommend but Matt Damon is good to look at.)

I haven't been weighing & measuring food so much so will get back to doing that.

So this week will focus on having 1300-1400 calories, measuring & weighing food & eating mostly chicken & fish.

Off to listen to a lecture at a museum & then will walk home through a park- or walk to a bus stop. I'll see and then go to the gym in the afternoon.

Hope you all had a good weekend.

Progress as of today: 13.5 lbs lost so far, only 17.5 lbs to go!

moogy on 09/11/2011:
Sorry about that, I felt to sick to post over the weekend. I love your plan for the week. Sounds like a plan for success. I wish you good luck:)

Umpqua on 09/12/2011:
You have a good plan in place for the week! I like Matt Damon too ;)

RE the beach, we go to Highland Lake in Winsted since it's 10 minutes away. Our friends live on the lake and have a boat so we swim off their dock, or park at their house and walk to the little beach up the road. It's a good sized lake and the boys love it, they've made a lot of swimming breakthroughs there!

biscottibody59 on 09/12/2011:
Thanks for the coffee info! You seem to be making the most out of your time there--good for you:-)

RYC: The walk stands alone--20 min for that day (always with the dog). The dog loves to jog too, but with the stopping and starting it's all I can do to pay attention to the intervals and the traffic.

Then the jog alternating with walking (Jog 2 min/Walk 3 min) continuously 7 times is a separate workout--I have an interval timer on my watch so I just set it to beep accordingly. So I think you gave me a little more credit, thank you!

Maria7 on 09/12/2011:

Hi all-

I had a good day on Friday. I worked out at the gym for about an hour which included some upper body weights & stretching. I needed to pick a golf shirt that I had ordered so hopped in a taxi to the American Club to pick it up. I decided that I was happy that we  didn't join the Am Club- it just doesn't seem that friendly or social- more like a business club. Then took a subway- the MRT- to the fine arts museum to see an exhibit there. Had lunch at a restaurant, Dome,- the best lunch- grilled portobella mushrooms with beets, a little goat cheese, pine nuts&  a soft buttery lettuce.. delicious. Followed that with flat white coffee- perfect. Then walked about 20 minutes to my bus but stop, on the way saw an art exhibit.

Dinner was back at the same restaurant because I wanted my husband to see one of the exhibits at the art museum- it was called the Yellow Ribbon project & was art work from prisoners - quite remarkable, And then because it was late & we ended up at the same restaurant where I had lunch- this time a Thai salad & not as wonderful as lunch.

Today we went to a wet market- a bustling place with mostly local people. We bought some shrimp, vegetables, a pork tenderloin & dried chillies & dried mushrooms. I wanted some chicken but the vendor send "sold out" even though he had meat in the case- couldn't figure that out... Oh, also bought 2 Chinese sausages to put in my rice cooker for flavor. We walked down to the market & took a taxi back. Later took a bus to Orchard Rd- a main area with many amazing malls- & my husband bought a guitar. We celebrated by having sushi for lunch. I'll have to think about how many pieces I had- it was the type of restaurant with a conveyor belt that comes around & you take the sushi that you want.

For dinner we'll have the shrimp- maybe a scampi recipe that I've made before. We bought tickets for a movie at our local mall. It's nice here because you buy tickets & oick out your seats. So no need to get to the theatre super early.

Weather here- well sweaty, does that sum it up? But that is pretty much the weather every day!

Progress as of today: 13.5 lbs lost so far, only 17.5 lbs to go!

V on 09/10/2011:

biscottibody59 on 09/10/2011:
Your entry prompted me to look up just what that particular sort of coffee was about--I'd never heard of it. Apparently some places here call it "cappo" and some Starbucks can make it (just from a little internet reading). Other than that I guess I'll have to check out a video on how to prepare.

Thanks for the reply on the golf. Nine holes and walking the course has to be a good workout--good for you! And quite enjoyable as well I'm sure:-)

Hi!

Having a good day. This morning I went golfing- 9 holes, which was fun. That may be my exercise for the day depending on what time we have dinner. If we eat early enough there will be time for an early evening walk. There is a nice walking path next to the river with an artificial  surface like a running track that is very easy on the feet for walking or running.

Breakfast- sunflower toast with jam; Lunch- salad with deli chicken & lt dressing, pineapple & blueberries; snack- yogurt, and ?    Dinner- to be determind.

I kind of cooked myself out last night with the sweet & sour pork. Now I know why the Chinese eat out alot. Those dishes are time consuming- marinade for the meat, sauce, and lots of chopped vegetables and I bought a fresh pineapple so I had to peel & cut that up. I'm more used to a 15 min prep and 15 min. cooking!  Oh & the new wok was interesting. The person I bought it from had cured it & I wasn't listening closely when she talked about how to use it for the first time. Well I was glad we didn't have a smoke alarm because the flames were shooting out from every which way on the wok. Guess I didn't wipe all of the oil- or whatever off of the outside. All is well and it was fun using it.

That's it from my side of the world.

Progress as of today: 13.5 lbs lost so far, only 17.5 lbs to go!

grannyannie on 09/08/2011:
Sounds like a great day! Nice menu. I love fresh pineapple and buy it often. Glad you didn't burn down the kitchen! :-)

I had a wok when I had my first apartment and I know they're tricky. I let a friend use it to cook me dinner and he ended up destroying it! I should get another though, I love a good stir fry.

Sorry you are feeling homesick for CT. If it makes you feel better it's cold and wet here at the moment and we're already losing a lot of leaves. Have a good one!

liza36 on 09/08/2011:
Cooking in general is tons of work, maybe that's why I don't do it too often! Nice you got some exercise in already, doing something you enjoy. Have a great day.

hollybelle on 09/08/2011:
Dakota Bread is a variety of bread made here by Great Harvest Bread Company (which is a chain). It has whole grains, poppy seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and other good stuff in it. I like it. All their breads are natural and have no bad stuff in them. They are expensive - like $5-$6 a loaf, but it's a splurge for us and it lasts a long time because it's good nutrition and you don't need to eat alot of it.

moogy on 09/08/2011:
Ha! Yes, woks can be tricky if it isn't yours and it is freshly cured!! I know what you mean, the cooking part of Chinese cooking is so quick but the chopping, dicing and prep takes a g e s!!!! I have mine down to a fine art now and as I only cook for myself the prep isn't too bad. Have a wonderful day thinkpositive:)

Maria7 on 09/08/2011:
Good on the golfing...good exercise. :-)

biscottibody59 on 09/09/2011:
Glad you enjoyed the golf--do you have to use a cart?

I'd like to take up golf, but I just hate the idea of using a cart--smell/noise--defeats the whole thing for me. There aren't any places close by that don't have them. But the old fat man contingency rules the golf courses here, not that they're all old and fat, but they pay and play the most so I guess they rule the roost--haha!

Didn't mean to go off on that tangent--hope you enjoy your wok/walk!

Hi-

Still battling with the scale but then it's a combination of still fighting off the food & wine from my flights, indulging a bit since I got here & I think my scale here is just not as friendly as the scale at my US home. Now the scale reads close to my posted weight. Looking to see some change by early next week.

So back to the gym this am for an hour using the elliptical, treadmill, bike & upper body weight machine. Then off shopping which included a bit of walking . Maybe finish up the day with a walk with my husband.

Breakfast- sunflower toast; lunch- salad with chicken & veg.; dinner will be sweet & sour pork with rice in my new wok, snacks- yogurt, carrots & hummus, wine & mini ice cream cone. Should total around 1400 calories.

Progress as of today: 13.5 lbs lost so far, only 17.5 lbs to go!
