Good morning-

I think I have become pretty good about maintaining my weight & now need to step up some exercise & cut back a bit on calories to get back to losing .

Actually ate three meals at home yesterday as we've been eating out at restaurants or at friends homes. We still have family coming  for meals & one more dinner out before my husband leaves. Today my granddaughter will be baking with my husband so that should be interesting. She has a magazine with a cake that looks like a hamburger which is nothing that I would be interested in tackling but my husband may be interested in taking it on. We'll see. Somehow I picture me cleaning up the kitchen- which is fine.

Update on the deer in my yard. Yesterday only the two young deer were here & I kept waiting for the mother to show up but never saw her. The baby deer was drinking from the birdbath which was sweet. Then the two sat down in the tall grass so we could only see their ears. Unfortunately we needed to use the grill & whenwe went out they ran off. Maybe we'll see them later today.

I am afraid I would have to start leaving food out for them. I wouldn't be able to resist!! I think the cake sounds wonderful, I hope it is a success. My kitchen floor is still scattered with coco pops and m&m's, I was too tired to get the vaccum out by the time I was finish the cake and did everything else I needed to do. I think that mainintain is a great skill and I am sure you will make a difference by upping the exercise and cutting back. Good luck, I am sure you can do it:)

I am hoping to catch up with you soon!! Once i get to my folks I will have lots of time...You CAN do this...I am constantly thinking of ways to step it up...I am walking in the city as much as I can to increase my cardio...With all the wine intake lately, I MUST....Trader Joes is an evil place, how dare they sell wine on the cheap like that??? LOL I am outraged....NOT ;) hahaha talk to you later :)

I'm back from my weekend and had a great time . No damage done on the scale so I'm happy about that.

Today I had my grandchildren & went shopping & then lunch at Rain Forest Cafe. I had a salad with dressing on the side . Dinner tonight is out at a friend's house so will try to watch my portions.

Unfortunately with yesterday being a travel day and today busy with grandchildren I haven't had decent exercise so will get out for a good walk or time on the treadmill tomorrow.

Yay! for no damage on the scale!! Excellent! Lunch sounds lovely, and spending time with grandchildren definetly is more important than exercise. Have a great day thinkpositive. I wish we had a Rainforest Cafe near us. Ethan would love it! The closest one closed during the major flood that hit Nashville a couple years ago.

Good morning from the White Mtns of NH-

I have a few minutes as I wait for my husband to get ready fo breakfast. We're staying at a beautiful hotel with wonderful views of the White Mountains. Just gorgeous. This morning I was going to go to the gym here but decided to take a walk to breathe in the cool mountain air. Last night was just amazing with the full moon just hanging in the sky.

Yesterday we picked up lunch from a deli and ate in the parking lot of Robert Frost's home that he lived in in NH. Dinner was salmon, salad & bites  of my husband's strawberry shortcake ( well actually we split it!) that we had at an outdoor dining spot here at the resort. I am trying to watch my calories & will have some fruit & yogurt for breakfast. Later today we will go to see friends in northern VT. They have a garden so I know that we'll have lots of fresh vegetables.

I'm just hoping to maintain my weight this weekend.

Good Morning-

Another beautiful day here. Cool weather, light breeze, sunny.

Had a great10 mile  bike ride yesterday on the local bike trail. It felt good as I  haven't been on my bike for 2years. I did find a few muscles that have been underused but nothing bothering me today.

Dinner out yesterday with a friend but I stuck to mussels, salmon & pannacotta for dessert.So probably had closer to 1800 calories but no change on the scale today.

Will either play golf or go for a walk today. Planning a weekend away- one night in a hotel and the next night at a friend's house in northern VT. So I need to be extra vigilant , especially at breakfast as our friend makes killer waffles.

Have a peaceful and relaxing weekend!

Thanks for the advise :) Yes, I am walking fast speed up the pace of 6 - 6.5 then ill go slow to 5.0 - 5.5. YES! it is not easy to ignore them specially when you need to talk to him about work since we work as a team. I just take it that i will only talk and be nice to him as long as its got to do with work. Ehe..

BTW, Cool weather, light breeze and Sunny?????? Sounds like a day in paradise! :)

Great job with the bike ride! The chocolate shop is Catherine's Chocolates in Great Barrington, MA. We go up to GB pretty often since it's only about 1/2 an hour north of us and there are some nice restaurants and the SoCo Creamery ice cream shop that the boys like. Another wonderful chocolate shop is Fascia's out of Waterbury. They are incredible, my family has gone there since I was a kid. Yeah, I'm a bit of a chocoholic ;P I hope you have a great weekend!

I hope your weekend is going or did go as well as it sounded. Actually, I am a bit of a hermit and am quite happy not to go out, although being on a second story I do miss sitting in a garden. I would like to go out by myself, but now that I can't drive that is not an option!! Your weather sounds just like the weather here at the moment, lovely isn't it?

I did go to Ralph's but i walked there instead of riding my bike.I haven't riden a bike in so long espicallly the city so i thought i bettter walk .i live 3 blocks from the beach so I willl try to take a bike ride on the bike path instead where it will be safer to ride

Good Morning-

Today I can report that my stated current weight is correct, and actually a bit below. Whew, wasn't happy about having to lose that lb but actually that is the story of my life. How many times have I lost & then regained the same pounds. That is what is upsetting and hard to think about the number of times I have been on WW or various diets including the ones where you buy your food & only eat certain foods. And so one reason I am pleased with myself is that I am doing this on my own with the DD support system. DD has been great for me and the support  does work. I have been faithful about writing down my food & calories and getting some exercise at least 5  days a week.

Awake at 4 am this morning- even before the birds started singing. Thanks for the suggestions on sleep. I haven't had wine or alcohol for the last 2 nights so I'm ruling that out. Today I'll try having one cup of coffee and see if that helps.I could go to bed earlier but I'm going to bed at 10 as it is. I do love my coffee but could try 1/2 decaf. It's hard to believe that caffeine could stay in my system from the morning.

Starting to think about my return to Singapore at the end of the month & not happy about going back. I was thinking that when I got married I promised to stay in sickness & in health but nothing was said about moving to the other side of the world .:)  I'll get over it & I know that once I'm there & back into my activities & see some friends that I'll be okay. Got to think positive !!

I'm thinking about a bike ride on the town bike trail this morning.

Congrats on getting the lbs down :) I was thinking far too much last night and had trouble falling asleep myself last night...It's crazy how when you lie down with thoughts running through your head, it's hard to shut them down..I hope you get a good night's sleep this evening...Have a good day!!!

Congrats and I'm so happy this system is working for you! I've also tried a lot of things over the years, and eating moderately, exercising and using this website are what produces lasting results for me.

Briefly, and this didn't help me understand why cutting it back helped my sleep, but the half-life of caffeine is 6 hours. What that means is that 6 hrs after consuming there is still half the amount in your system. So 6 hrs after that there is still half that amount and so on. We all have varying metabolisms, which may account for varying effects.

Good morning all-

Well my scale is now closer to my posted weight so I'm happy & going in the right direction. I had to make the ultimate sacrifice & gave up my nightly glass of wine. :) 

Busy around here with several projects in the works- all by different contractors. Two arrive this morning . One is new stonework around our pool which I'm excited about- the others are just maintenance  issues. Being a homeowner means that there is always something that needs doing- either by us or at a cost by contractors.

Beautiful day here and I was up early ( 5 am) to enjoy it. The other morning I saw three very thin deer on my front lawn  at an early hour.

I do wish I could figure out how to get 8 hours of sleep. The five or six that I get just doesn't work for me. Could the 2 cups of coffee that I have in the morning be too much caffeine in my system?

Exercise yesterday was just house cleaning. Will get out for a good long walk today.

The stonework sounds awesome, we are saving up to put in a stone patio near our pool. Some day! Not sure about the coffee, I know my morning java doesn't affect my sleep. But if I drink anything caffeinated too late in the day I either can't fall asleep or wake up a lot during the night. Have a good one!

I hear ya on the sleep issue! It's hard to get a full 8 hours sleep. Can you go to bed earlier? It's easier said than done, at least it is for me.

Glad the scale is moving in the right direction. Keep it up!

I can vouch for cutting coffee OUT in the morning and better sleep. Try cutting it down or out and see how it goes. I have to say that over the years my tolerance has decreased and approaching menopause has made it absolutely problematic for me.

I can't live without some coffee sometime, but I have it on my terms and even doing that hasn't made my sleep go back to how it was. I wonder if it's because having coffee first thing is so very compulsive and we begin to think it's non-negotiable. Oh well that could be a deep subject:-)

Also cutting out the alcohol may have a positive effect on your sleep. (There are some excellent and reputable articles if you do a search on sleep and alcohol if you're interested.)

I would trust biscotti, if anyone has sleeping difficulties around here it would be her!! It can't hurt to cut it out for a few days to test it out. I love it that you had deer on the lawn, how wonderful, I suppose I am thinking of them as exotic creatures (we don't have them here) I bet they are quieter than the damn cocatoo's. Great alarm clocks if you want to get up at 5 or 6:) I love it that you have got that luck has nothing to do with it, just plain hard work every day for a little reward at the end of the week. I need more sleep too! Of course, if I forced myself to go to bed at the same time as my kids, I'd be just fine. But I need some kid-free time with hubby before we hit the hay. He falls asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow, so my time is limited with him. :)

If you are very dependent on coffee like me, I strongly suggest weaning yourself off of it. I have severe withdrawal symptoms with the main ones being irritability and migraines. Good luck!

Good Morning-

Well still 1 lb above my listed weight but giving myself 2 days to get back to it or will repost.

Busy weekend & not recording all my calories was my mistake. Had my family here & some celebrations thrown in and then a day at my sister inlaws & did indulge in some wonderful potato salad & cake. :)

OK- no trips planned, no dinners out, time available for exercise so seriously back on track this week!

This morning a vitamuffin, lunch- soup and salad, dinner a vegie burger on thin sandwich bread. Snacks- fruit and yogurt,

Wish me luck getting losing this blankity, blank lb that I stupidly gained and getting back to losing a lb a week!

I consider 1 pound just a flux so I honestly wouldn't worry about it. I've been known to flux as much as 5 pounds, I sure did after my vacation! As long as you're back on track now you'll be just fine. Have a good one!

The news from the scale wasn't as bad as yesterday so there is hope that I'll be back to my stated weight before Monday.

My minivacation was great! Lots of beach time & diving in some big time waves. But then there was quite a bit of mindless eating & drinking (!)- just didn't feel like putting the breaks on. But as I said I'm back at home & back to reality & doing fine.

Today my daughter & son-in-law arrive along with my 2 granddaughters. They will stay for the weekend & we'll get together with my daughter& son in law & 2 grand children  who live close by. They haven't seen my husband since Christmas so it'll be fun to spend time together.

Going out for pizza tonight ( salad for me) and then have  roll up turkey sandwich for Sat  lunch & steak & corn for  dinner. I'm making a blueberry pie for the family & I'll just have a taste.

Back from my mini vacation. It appears that I left all good intentions behind! And a reminder to me that it is so much easier to gain weight than it is to lose.

But today is a new day. Just an egg for breakfast, salad ( restaurant)  and chicken and squash is the plan for dinner. Exercise was 20 min on the treadmill.

I'm leaving my weight for now & will update it if necessary :(

Good morning-

Good news on the scale today- down a pound. I'm happy about that which makes my goal of 175 by the end of the month much closer.

I'm doing well despite going out for dinner and having people over plus having food in the house that would normally do me in.

Had grandchildren over for lunch & a swim and time with their grandfather. Even got some snuggle time from the 9 year old for me and I know those days won't last too much longer.

Tonight having friends for dinner & then overnight. We're just having a cobb salad which I can tailor for myself. I may get a pie at a market today but will either have just a taste or none at all.

So I'm still staying around 1400-1500  calories and that seems to be working for me.

We have plans  to stay with a friend for a few days at a beach house so may be checking in later in the week.

Oh yay! Well done with your pound down. Living a 'normal' life and still managing to loss weight. My 12 year old doesn't cuddle anymore but the 11 year old (who is taller and bigger than his big brother) is like a big labrador, I am only 5ft and he is taller than me already, he will cuddle and snuggle like a six year old. Enjoy them while you can I say!! Have a good week thinkpositive:)
