Weight: 189.5

Had a decent day on Thurs.

Food- br.- muesli w/ 1/2 c milk, 1/2 ban., lunch- 1/2 can tuna on greens w/ lf dressing watermelon, dinner- 5 oz salmon , gr. beans, another green veg. + a small amount of oil for cooking & 1 t. butter , snacks-rice cakes w/ p. b,  lf string cheese, greek yogurt, mini ice cream cone  Total -1800 cal.

Have to remember that salmon is a higher fat fish.

Exercise- 25 min ell, 15 on treadmill, short walk

Bought myself a scale for weighing food & a couple more measuring cups. That should help with the portion control.

Found myself more hungry than other days. Lucky I stopped with one mini cone.

Friday- Not going to the gym today. My knee is bothering me so I don't want to push it. Will go for a walk later today.

Progress as of today: 1.5 lbs lost so far, only 29.5 lbs to go!

lifestylechange on 05/12/2011:
way to go on the exercise:)

moogy on 05/12/2011:
Glad you got yourself the portion control helps. Hope your knee eases up so you can get back to the gym, but a nice walk will be good as well.:)

Umpqua on 05/13/2011:
Great job with the foods, salmon has good fat so I never feel guilty about it, plus it's so yummy :) Have a good one!

They keep the tofu in the fridge section of our supermarkets near the vegetarian packets of food. Ask at the service desk, if you have those or grab someone!!!!! LOL

I'm happy with any loss so let the weight loss begin! Trying to think positive & all.

A good day. Exercise-  am.45 min in gym - 27 min on ellipt, some upper weights, stretching. pm- a brisk 45 min walk after dinner.

Meals- Breakfast- egg, 1/2 eng muff/w lf spread. Lunch- greens with 100 gr of low fat hamw/ lf dressing, watemelon,  Dinner- chicken stir fry & about 1/2 c wh rice. Snacks- 4 rice cakes w/ lf spread & apricot jam.  About 1400 -1500 calories with one snack to go for the evening.

Someone wondered about weighing & measuring food which I am not great about. I figure that I've done this so many times that I can" eyeball"  4 oz or 1/2 cup etc. AND the excuse that I haven't purchased a scale in this home. I do think that I should be better about this & now that my golf partner has canceled for tomorrow I think I'll go out tomorrow & get a good food scale.

And thanks for the reminder that muscle weighs more than fat!

I do feel good, have alot more energy and not falling asleep in the afternoon so I'm happy with myself. Trying to drink more water too.

Does anyone get Dr. Gourmet online newsletters? I really like him- gives realistic advice, good recipes.

Good job with our loss and also being grateful for even a small one. It is all important. Good for you, I think you will be suprised at how big your eyeball has got!!!!! LOL

Great day for exercise- 30 min ellipt, walked in the morning & then in evening for 45 min & then 40 min.

Breakfast- egg & 1/2 eng muff, lunch- apple & 3 rice cakes w/ p. butter dinner- fish baked with tomatoes & herbs with rice snacks- almonds, diet soda& watermelon

Still at same weight. I have dieted many times in my life- eating about the same & exercising maybe less than I have been recently & in the past would have lost at least a few lbs by now. So- although still thinking postiive! am somewhat upset not to see more of a loss.

Breakfast- egg, 1/2 eng muff & 1/2 banana Lunch- fruit platter, dinner- leftover fish  snacks- to be determined.

Didn't get to the gym today & may get out for a walk this evening.

Feeling good about my food choices & for the most part my exercise.

Thanks for all the comments diet diary friends!

KathyBlue on 05/10/2011:
WOW, great exercise! And yes, think positive - you're gaining muscles, and muscles are heavier than fat, so you should try and get yourself measured around in inches - I bet there you'd be able to see amazing results. How about clothes? Don't you keep some "future" clothes in the wardrobe you can try on?

Em17 on 05/10/2011:
Think positive =) thats why it is you. I have done that before Kathy get a size lower than what I am and lose weight and THEN THEY FIT =)

KathyBlue on 05/10/2011:
I have a good thing called "VIP membership" to the university sports complex. It has an olympic pool, 2 gyms, tennis, martial arts, group activities (basketball, handball, football, etc.), golf... and I can participate in any class anytime - except for tennis where I had to enroll for a specific schedule. So I have 5x tennis per week, as a base, and the other activities vary, I love water but I also like the gym's group activities.

Umpqua on 05/10/2011:
Your foods and exercise look great - I bet the measurements will tell the true story. Have a good one!

moogy on 05/10/2011:
I am sorry that you are not seeing any results for all your efforts. I am sure that you are weighing and measuring and doing all the things you need to to ensure that you are not undermining yourself and not realizing it. I have done that before and it was very frustrating. Hang in there and it is true that the clothes sometimes tell more of a story than the scale.:)

~Moody~ on 05/10/2011:
Fantastic workout and food choices~Try not to get discouraged..keep doing what you're doing and you WILL see results~

moogy on 05/10/2011:
The smoothie recipe is on the recipe forum if you would like to give it a try:)

Had a pretty good day. Breakfast- egg, 1/2 eng muff with yucky low fat spread ( I love butter!) lunch - out- a buffett -had some salad & bits & pieces of food with the salad taking up the majority of my plate. Then a few bites of 3 desserts  a piece of watermelon. Dinner- spinach salad with shrimp & strawberries.snack- hand ful of almonds- hard to total up the day- my estimate is 1500 calories.- Well , I may have another snack to I'll move it to 1600.

Exercise- 20 ellipt, 12 min on bike in the morning & 40 min walk in the evening. Happy about the walk- I found a place that's new to me- an excellent place to walk along the river with nice plantings, people walking dogs, nice.

Now that I have a new scale & am calculating kgs to lbs accurately I'm hoping to see some success on the scale this next week.

hollybelle on 05/08/2011:
Read your last few posts. Love the "thinkpositive" theme. Love that you are not calling "this" a diet (I don't like that, either) but healthy eating. That's how I think of it, too. Keep up the good efforts!

Em17 on 05/08/2011:
haha snacks r a must sometimes =)

moogy on 05/08/2011:
I hope you have a good week as well. The recipe for CAMP muesli bars is in the recipe forum. CAMP stands for cranberry, apricot, macadamic and pecan - I made it up, as well as the recipe. They are really yummy and satisfying.

liza36 on 05/09/2011:
Sounds like you did a great job - keep it up!

So much better when not eating out & then no food in the house calling my name. Breakfast- muesli w/ blueberries & low fat milk, lunch greens with tom. , cuc & tuna w/ low fat dressing, dinner - salad w/ chicken & same dressing, snacks- yoghurt, a fruit platter ( out at restuarant) hummus & carrots. Somewhere around 1400 calories

Exercise- 9 holes of golf & swimming. Never made it to the gym...

Today is Sunday, Mother's Day- hopefully will talk to my daughters as I live on the other side of the world from them right now. Going out to brunch . That will be a challenge but I'm sure that I can have salad, shrimp and/ or fish & fruit. I will allow myself one small pastry item. And no wine or champagne!

Still feeling positive - but in addition to new scale, also realized that I was not calculating kg to lbs quite right so leaving current weight where it is on posting! I was calculating 2.2 kg to lbs & actually it's2.2046- makes a difference!

I do know that I'm makng progress. I do believe- and if anyone can prove me wrong I'd love to hear it- that the older you are the more difficult it is to lose. And I think one reason for this is that as an older person I just don't need as many calories & my appetite is the same as it was 20 years ago. Just my theory.

Progress as of today: 1 lbs lost so far, only 30 lbs to go!

Bikiniwax85 on 05/08/2011:
I get confused when converting Lbs to Kilos as well! :)Well 1 KG is 2.2046 lbs all right but when you round it out you will get 2.21lbs to be exact :)

My new scale reads higher than my old scale- or in any case is more precise so it appears that I haven't lost any weight but in reality my weight was higher than I thought when I began this diet. I really shouldn't refer to this as a diet as I am just eating better- healthier choices and more exercise. I am rarely hungry and even then it's just a normal feeling of hunger.

Yesterday  breakfast- egg & 1/2 eng muff with lowfat butter/spread, lunch of rice cakes & peanut butter, dinner out at aThai restaurant-  glass of wine, shrimp, chicken veg. & rice. snacks- almonds, raspberries & blueberries- total maybe closer to 2000 calories

exercise- 40 min walk

Today should be better- no meals out! That's diffcult for me. I'm playing golf this morning & then will get to the gym at some point.

moogy on 05/07/2011:
After reading biscotti's entry it would appear that all new scales read higher. Yes, you are not on a diet just eating a heathing way. Have a great day, no meals out should help you stay in charge:)

YellowDress on 05/07/2011:
Yes it's a common problem;) New scales, new weights but i believe that you'll catch what you want!Eating out always makes me feel anxious but it's better if you plan what you'll eat before. BTW,the man who will help me about job is in Germany now,i'll share the response:)

 Another good day! Br- egg & 1/2 eng muffW/butt. , lunch-salad w/ chicken

dinner- shrimp, rice, broccoli, snacks- almonds, mango, yoghurt. About 1600 calories

Exercise- 18 min on ellipt, 15 on bike & 45 min walk

I'm on a roll!!! Now have to think positive & be able to keep it up as it's Friday & then the weekend where there are more temptations- like dinner out & mother's day brunch.

I did purchase a digital scale & will get on the scale today.

Thanks for all of the positive comments! It really helps.

moogy on 05/05/2011:

My calorie count isn't bad for the day but I could have made some better choices.

Breakfast- 400  muesli with milk & banana

Lunch- 300 rice cakes & p. butter

dinner- 550  salmon bento box

snacks- 300  apple, humuus w/carrots, more ricecakes, mango

total- 1550

Exercise- ellipt. , bike, upper body weights-30 min in gym with a 25 min walk

Tomorrow- will have an egg for breakfast , salad for lunch & fish for dinner

OK- good start last week but then Friday night dinner out, then my husband's birthday, my birhtday the next day so not much progress for the week.

I plan to get in more exercise & plan my meals, I don't have any bad snack food in the house, bought some good snacks & I need to think positive about the next week.

~Moody~ on 05/02/2011:
If it's not in the house you can't eat it, good for you for having good snacks in the house! Wishing you a very positive week!

Sounds like you have things planned out. Be positive you can do this.
