So much better when not eating out & then no food in the house calling my name. Breakfast- muesli w/ blueberries & low fat milk, lunch greens with tom. , cuc & tuna w/ low fat dressing, dinner - salad w/ chicken & same dressing, snacks- yoghurt, a fruit platter ( out at restuarant) hummus & carrots. Somewhere around 1400 calories

Exercise- 9 holes of golf & swimming. Never made it to the gym...

Today is Sunday, Mother's Day- hopefully will talk to my daughters as I live on the other side of the world from them right now. Going out to brunch . That will be a challenge but I'm sure that I can have salad, shrimp and/ or fish & fruit. I will allow myself one small pastry item. And no wine or champagne!

Still feeling positive - but in addition to new scale, also realized that I was not calculating kg to lbs quite right so leaving current weight where it is on posting! I was calculating 2.2 kg to lbs & actually it's2.2046- makes a difference!

I do know that I'm makng progress. I do believe- and if anyone can prove me wrong I'd love to hear it- that the older you are the more difficult it is to lose. And I think one reason for this is that as an older person I just don't need as many calories & my appetite is the same as it was 20 years ago. Just my theory.

Progress as of today: 1 lbs lost so far, only 30 lbs to go!

I get confused when converting Lbs to Kilos as well! :)Well 1 KG is 2.2046 lbs all right but when you round it out you will get 2.21lbs to be exact :)

My new scale reads higher than my old scale- or in any case is more precise so it appears that I haven't lost any weight but in reality my weight was higher than I thought when I began this diet. I really shouldn't refer to this as a diet as I am just eating better- healthier choices and more exercise. I am rarely hungry and even then it's just a normal feeling of hunger.

Yesterday  breakfast- egg & 1/2 eng muff with lowfat butter/spread, lunch of rice cakes & peanut butter, dinner out at aThai restaurant-  glass of wine,shrimp, chicken veg. & rice. snacks- almonds, raspberries & blueberries- total maybe closer to 2000 calories

exercise- 40 min walk

Today should be better- no meals out! That's diffcult for me. I'm playing golf this morning & then will get to the gym at some point.

After reading biscotti's entry it would appear that all new scales read higher. Yes, you are not on a diet just eating a heathing way. Have a great day, no meals out should help you stay in charge:)

Yes it's a common problem;) New scales,new weights but i believe that you'll catch what you want!Eating out always makes me feel anxious but it's better if you plan what you'll eat before. BTW,the man who will help me about job is in Germany now,i'll share the response:)

 Another good day! Br- egg & 1/2 eng muffW/butt. , lunch-salad w/ chicken

dinner- shrimp, rice, broccoli, snacks- almonds, mango, yoghurt. About 1600 calories

Exercise- 18 min on ellipt, 15 on bike & 45 min walk

I'm on a roll!!! Now have to think positive & be able to keep it up as it's Friday & then the weekend where there are more temptations- like dinner out & mother's day brunch.

I did purchase a digital scale & will get on the scale today.

My calorie count isn't bad for the day but I could have made some better choices.

Breakfast- 400  muesli with milk & banana

Lunch- 300 rice cakes & p. butter

dinner- 550  salmon bento box

snacks- 300  apple, humuus w/carrots, more ricecakes, mango

total- 1550

Exercise- ellipt. , bike, upper body weights-30 min in gym with a 25 min walk

Tomorrow- will have an egg for breakfast , salad for lunch & fish for dinner

Will get on the scale at the end of the week & hope to see some progress.

For the most part doing okay- no real cravings for anything- still avoiding the wine which is good. Don't really have anything in the house to tempt me & I'd like to keep it that way.

 Pretty good day- Breakfast- muesli, banana, milk ( have to get 2 %!) Lunch- greens with 2 sl of turkey with a little dressing, Snack- handfull of almonds, humus w/ carrots Dinner - hamburger patty , 1/2 eng muffin, salad with dressing snack- yoghurt. est of 1700 calories

Exercise- 40 min in gym- ellipt, bike, upper body weights and 1/2 hr walk

Hopefully I can do the same on Wed.

No wine for the last 3 days! That's a success. I was in the habit of drinking a glass of wine every night.

OK- good start last week but then Friday night dinner out, then my husband's birthday, my birhtday the next day so not much progress for the week.

I plan to get in more exercise & plan my meals, I don't have any bad snack food in the house, bought some good snacks & I need to think positive about the next week.

Day started well & did OK until dinner which was buffet style at a nice restaurant. My choices were - smoked salmon, a few shrimp, salad with not too much dressing, some kind of bean dish, some chicken, alittle rice &  fruit- I think that was it- except for more than 2 glasses of wine...I did pass up the desserts though!


 So I still was probably about 1800 calories- more than I wanted but the wine snuck up on me with someone filling my glass... Right, like I couldn't say no!

Also no exercise besides a short walk. I was still tired from golf yesterday but should have pushed myself.

Tomorow  I need to be extra good for the day because another dinner out tomorrow for my husband's birthday.

Well done with bypassing the desserts. It is very tempting when all that food is layed out before you just waiting to be eaten. I agree with holly you are going to need to get some exercise in especially as you have another celebration this weekend. It is just life getting in the way of a perfectly ordered way of losing weight!!!!!! LOL

I'm proud of myself that I've had a good week. There is something empowering about taking control of my eating and then I wonder why I haven't been doing this right along??? Now I'm being realistic about this as tomorrow is my husband's birthday & the next day is my birthday AND tonight we're going out to a dinner/dance. So I have to have a plan & will only splurge on the birthday dinner & not make it a blow out weekend which I might have done before. (Hope I can stick to this!)

Meals yesterday- breakfast- egg& 1/2 eng muff, lunch -greens with chicken& gelatin cup, dinner- Japanese bento take out with salmon. small glass of wine & snacks-  2 hand fulls of almonds.  Est. at 1400 calories

Exercise- Played golf & a swim in the pool. Look forward to playing golf when I have less weight to carry around the course!

(I've got this scale that only shows Kg which I have no problem calculating to lbs but the scale only shows whole kg- it looks like I've lost a kg but not posting until I get a proper scale!)

I saw you were from Singapore, do you consider dieting as an easy task there, do you have available healthy food concepts such as low fat, non-fat, whole grain, bio etc.? I'm just curious! :)

YES - EMPOWERING! I love that thought. There is so much that happens in life that we are not in control of but our eating and activity level (at least in this part of the world) are not part of them. We are in charge and taking personal responsibility is part of the journey to health. YAY-you have identified the power that is available within you. Thanks for reminding me!

Day 2- Had a pretty good day. Breakfast was 2 scr. eggs, coffee & 1/2 oatmeal cookie, am snack- 1 biscotti, lunch tuna on lettuce , pm snack- almonds, dinner- chicken, peas & apple snack 2 rice cakes w/ butter & jam- estimate it at 1400 calories.

Went to the gym - 20 min on treadmill,, 15 on bike & some weights.

Maybe get on the scale tomorrow.

Figure if I can string a few days together like this, maybe there's hope!

Thank you to all for the welcome and encouraging words.

Day one- not the best start ,but a start. Salad for lunch, chicken, rice and green beans for dinner with 2 small snacks thrown in to equal about 1500 calories. I won't weigh myself for a few days. I'm living in southeast Asia so have a scale that reads in kg so for my own sake I need to buy a new scale that reads in pounds.

I know that I should eliminate my daily glass of wine, but maybe will cut it to 1/2 glass.

I walked about 50 minutes today & will add more exercise tomorrow.

Good to read other diaries to know that others are fighting the same battle.
