Yesterday - a few hours of shopping at consignment & thrift stores to find a chair- success. swimming, reading & a 2.5 mile walk to round out the day.

Breakfast & Lunch - about 400 calories- chocolate - around 250; other snacks- 300 Dinner- 400 ?

Dinner was at a Thai food restaurant- shrimp, lightly fried with vegetables & a mango sauce. I only had about 1/3 of the rice Hard to figure the calories. Maybe more than 400?

Sounds like a lovely weekend. I'm curious where you go for Thai? We've tried Green Papaya and hubby picks up from a place called One Night in Bangkok (yep, for real). He'll occasionally pick up food to bring home after work since there are so many more options up that way, so let me know if you have a good suggestion!

A good day. Didn't get in the walk but did a bit of swimming. Really nice in the pool, followed by a soak in the spa. Ah...

Food- the same breakfast & lunch as always & then dinner was a bit off- listening to a jazz concert in the park & had a brat & part of the roll. Followed by a pumpkin flavored ice bream cone. Delicious. I still came out with 1400 calories so not that bad for the day.

Good morning,

Now in FL at our condo for a week. Not the best of weather so far- humid & overcast with rain on & off. Came down to check the place out & do a few things. Nice to be here despite the not perfect weather.

Have to get back on track with eating although it hasn't been terrible.

Went on a 2 1/2 mile walk yesterday. Will try to do that most days while here.

Found a friend- a scale that read 3 lbs less than my scale at home. :) I know it isn't correct but at least it will give me a sense of losing or gaining while here.

Didn't realize how many calories are in chicken piccata ! Hey, it's just chicken with some sauce- not sure where all the calories come from. I had 2 thin pieces of chicken, the sauce didn't seem too rich - some butter & flour & wine. Anyway, that is the challenge of eating out at an Italian restaurant.

Been here for 2 days & haven't been to the ocean yet, have to drive over for a look & a walk on the beach today.

Always nice to find a friendly scale.... lol I remember going to St. Petersburg for the Winter and not making it to the beach once. Just did not go there as a tourist after a while of being an owner. Take care enjoy your time in Florida.

Yes, Italian restaurants have got to be the worst. If you are really in the mood to cut calories, salads are great. you can even have some bread with it...and of course protein in your salad and some dressing. and it's way healthier still in calories than everything else. enjoy your time where it's still warmer!

An active day- an hour abs & weights class at the gym, outdoor chores- emptied & spread the mulch from 12 bags, finished off the porch project of removing mildew from the outside and then went on a hike to a tower & then walked up the tower. Whew- then finished it off with a little shopping at garden centers. The foliage is just spectacular. Actually not even tired.

Food so far has been good. Calories & carbs at a decent level. Snacks have been just apple & almonds. Dinner will have something to do with chicken.

I'm tired this afternoon. Had big plans but seem to have no motivation besides doing some reading.

Exercise today- Zumba . I know when I've had a workout when every pore is perspiring.

I'm now sitting on my screened porch. So all summer I've looked at this porch & not liked the looks of the dark stains (mildew) on the rails. I thought we might hire someone or rent a machine to remove it & knew I didn't want to tackle it but yesterday saw a product & figured I'd give it a try. Well the product worked & it did take me a half day to clean it up ( & I still have the outside left to do) but the point is that I could have done this job in June & felt so much better about using the porch. I'm trying to convince myself that losing weight is much like this project. I keep thinking about it , putting it off & I could just get the job done & be able to appreciate my weight loss instead of thinking of excuses as to why it's not getting done.

Food so far- B- egg & spinach with a sprinkling of cheese; L- romaine w/ turkey & o & v; Snacks- apple, lowfat cheddar cheese Dinner- planning chicken stir fry

That's great news on getting the porch cleaned and the Zumba. I absolutely know what you mean about the whole weight loss process, although I do think that adding in extra exercise with projects like that (scrubbing, gardening, etc) helps and gives us a double sense of accomplishment!

Yesterday was a disaster as far as food! For me once I get started it's hard to put a stop to it. Let's just say it involved lemon squares & biscotti . The only saving factor was that I worked my butt off raking out & hauling rocks out of a flower bed. After seeing how rocky this area is it's hard to figure out how anything has grown there.

Today has started off fine and I'll keep my hands off anything to do with sugar & flour. So far I've unloaded 6 bags of mulch for that flower bed & am in process of spraying my screened porch that has accumulated a layer of mildew. I think this spray is pretty potent so I'm about to find something to cover my mouth & nose. If I'm still standing will get out for a walk later.

That's good that you can be active and involved in gardening. It will keep your mind off of food I would say. Hobbies and other activities are good for the soul :)

Nice work with the gardening and I know how heavy the mulch is. The leaves are piling up in our yard, we need a new leaf blower and I haven't gotten around to purchasing one yet. Next week :)

Didn't say Good Morning because I don't like being up this early- up around 4:00-4:30 & couldn't get back to sleep... Oh well.. Will take a nap later today. The weekend was again just so-so. Up a bit in calories & had wine both days. Back to business on Monday. Have to do something about exercise. I do enjoy the classes at the gym but meetings keep interfering with the classes and I just don't enjoy exercising in the afternoon at the gym.That's my challenge this week. Going to get in 4 hours of exercise between Monday & Friday. So if I count my mall walking yesterday I have 3 hours and 40 minutes to go.

Calories yesterday- Around 1400 and carbs about 100. Going to see what 1300 calories feels like today & drop the carbs slightly. It means easing off on almonds & almond butter. Oh yeah & the wine....

Will report back on my exercise challenge this week. Hope your week is going well!

Not sure if you like doing at-home workouts but if so, FitnessBlender.com has loads of freebies. You can search by level of difficult, area you want to work on, and even length of workout if you just want something quick. I know I sound like I shill for them (I don't!!) but they're good quality workouts and very convenient!

It took awhile but finally saw some movement on the scale. Celebrate every pound, I say!! Big event here in my area-opening of a new Costco store. Lots of folks turned up , including me. Bought a few things that I needed. Apples are excellent. As we are a family of 2 , warehouse shopping isn't usually our thing but not everything is sold in large quantities. Good people watching!

Going to take grand dog out for a walk soon.

Same boring food for breakfast & lunch. Thai food out tonight.

Yay, congrats on your loss! I used to belong to BJs and I noticed in recent years they started bringing in some healthier food options and I'm guessing Costco followed suit.

I love Thai food! I find it so tasty and healthy. They always have the biggest variety of veggies in the Thai dishes..

Seems a lot of people on here are having success with the scale - me too! It's slow...but steady. I hope to lose around 1 pound or even a little less, per month!

Another beautiful day. I know these warm days will not last so need to enjoy the weather while it's here.

I won't list my foods because it's pretty boring as I tend to eat the same foods every day. Today has been a pretty good day & i'll end the day with about 1400 or under calories. Carbs will end at under 100 which is where I want to be.

Exercise- a moderate walk with grand dog.

Goal is to see the scale move a bit . Hoping to see some progress after maintaining for the last couple of weeks.

I somehow missed your last entry about the detox, but it sounds like you're doing really well with regular eating and getting exercise in. I should probably start aiming for under 100 carbs if I want the scale to ever move again - carbs are always what holds me back. Thanks for mentioning that!

Decided against the 3 day detox. I remembered that I have a lunch out on Thursday & my stomach is a bit "off" today.

B- fruit/yogurt smoothie l- fish soup snacks- almonds, yogurt dinner- I'll see how I'm feeling- maybe just some cottage cheese or eggs

exercise- zumba - the teacher for this class is trying to make us into Latin dancers! fun & exhausting!
