A hard day with the sad news in Paris. having been there in May makes it more difficult for me , just thinking of the wonderful, magical city & people now trying to deal with all of this. Of course it's not just Paris dealing with this - it puts everyone on edge. The world leaders need to figure out how to deal with this so people can go about their daily lives without fear.

Two days with no exercise so got on th treadmill for 30 min.

Will make an effort to keep snacks in check this weekend.

grannyannie on 11/14/2015:
It's horrific what has happened in Paris! I love France. :(

Horn_Of_Plenty on 11/14/2015:
Yes terrorists have been causing problems for a long time...horrible about Paris.

biscottibody59 on 11/14/2015:
Try to stay away from the TV/media coverage. I can't really take it after all these years of all these things seemingly happening over and over. I feel informed with just a little trickle of an update every now and then.

It's terrible for the families of the victims and probably even the families of the gunmen/gunwomen.

Take care of yourself there!

OhioRaven on 11/15/2015:
It's messed up. I fear it may get worse before it gets better.

Hi-

I'm feeling a bit more on track this week. Trying to be more "mindful" about my snacking.

breakfast, lunch - same as other days !! Dinner- Chicken will be involved. And squash

snacks- so far- one chocolate square. Hoping to keep it to - apple and yogurt

No exercise today. Unless you count a little dancing around the house. :)

Raining here today. Thankfully! Weathermen were calling it a "moderate drought" Not what I want to hear , being on a well.

Feeling happy as I just read that the daughter of my nephew came out of surgery with good news after stomach surgery.

puddles on 11/12/2015:
Also rainy here definitely an inside day for me. Congrats at being more on track. Have a great day.

grannyannie on 11/13/2015:
Dancing counts! Good news on the surgery.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 11/14/2015:
I have found squash to be really filling, helpful replacement at times to higher carbs. recently, I have a little squash and also a little potato with my meals (way to reduce high carbs and use more squash...going to do that this week again!)

grannyannie on 11/10/2015:
Good plan for today!

OhioRaven on 11/10/2015:
Good breakfast !

MiamiGirl on 11/11/2015:
For a snack I love the Yoplait Greek 100 calorie yogurts! If I need something sweet, I pour a bit of honey and a few sliced almonds. Makes the perfect snack if you like these ingredients.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 11/11/2015:
I think in the end, it's just calories that matter. I never pay too close attention to how many carbs...just overall...then again, sometimes you need the carbs ...? Lately I allow myself more and more carbs bc I am starting to believe they make me feel better because of the serotonin release thing...

Horn_Of_Plenty on 11/11/2015:
sorry, spelling - seratonin

Hi-

Doing okay. Just kind of maintaining . Getting out for a 2 + mile walk almost everyday and some swimming plus a bit of housework.

Went out for a classic early bird dinner last night. You know those Florida type early bird dinners?- Except this was at a great restaurant & a good way to sample the offerings of a pricey restaurant. Had a salad, salmon & panna cotta for dessert. Delicious. Followed by the new Tom Hanks movie- very good.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Umpqua on 11/03/2015:
That's right, you're in Florida so my husband would have a hike to pick up Thai food from where you went :) Your early bird dinner sounds fantastic, glad you're doing well!

thinkpositive on 11/03/2015:
Funny! We like Sweet Chillis on ParkRd in West Hartford. Always good.

Umpqua on 11/03/2015:
Awesome, thanks for the recommendation!

grannyannie on 11/03/2015:
Maintaining is good. Enjoy!

thinkpositive on 11/04/2015:
Yes, it was very good.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 11/04/2015:
When I retire, I'll prob drag my butt down to Florida like the rest of my NY friends do :-D And if not Florida, another warm state!

Maintaining is good...and wayyyyy better than an increasing weight. Actually, I've been maintaining for all of the time I've been back to work, since 10/19. Wow...seems I've been back longer than just shy of only 3 weeks. LOL...thank you for helping me get that into a better perspective!

I am sure the early bird dinners are great - and always for a better price. It's amazing how much cheaper food is when you go out at an earlier time! I don't do that now - but down the road, I am quite positive I will! enjoy!

Great post :-D It made me smile :)

biscottibody59 on 11/04/2015:
I would take that opportunity to sample as much of the pricey foods as possible--good deal! Sounds like you're doing well balancing things there.

How was the ocean/beach?

Hi-

Yesterday - a few hours of shopping at consignment & thrift stores to find a chair- success. swimming, reading & a 2.5 mile walk to round out the day.

Breakfast & Lunch - about 400 calories- chocolate - around 250; other snacks- 300 Dinner- 400 ?

Dinner was at a Thai food restaurant- shrimp, lightly fried with vegetables & a mango sauce. I only had about 1/3 of the rice Hard to figure the calories. Maybe more than 400?

puddles on 10/31/2015:
The food sounds real good. Have a great day.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 11/01/2015:
You had a great day! :-D

Maria7 on 11/02/2015:
Oh, I LOVE shopping at thrift stores! Can't go wrong there! :-D

Umpqua on 11/03/2015:
Sounds like a lovely weekend. I'm curious where you go for Thai? We've tried Green Papaya and hubby picks up from a place called One Night in Bangkok (yep, for real). He'll occasionally pick up food to bring home after work since there are so many more options up that way, so let me know if you have a good suggestion!

Hi-

A good day. Didn't get in the walk but did a bit of swimming. Really nice in the pool, followed by a soak in the spa. Ah...

Food- the same breakfast & lunch as always & then dinner was a bit off- listening to a jazz concert in the park & had a brat & part of the roll. Followed by a pumpkin flavored ice bream cone. Delicious. I still came out with 1400 calories so not that bad for the day.

OhioRaven on 10/30/2015:
Wow ! A Real Good Day.

grannyannie on 10/30/2015:
Sounds like a nice day.

Good morning,

Now in FL at our condo for a week. Not the best of weather so far- humid & overcast with rain on & off. Came down to check the place out & do a few things. Nice to be here despite the not perfect weather.

Have to get back on track with eating although it hasn't been terrible.

Went on a 2 1/2 mile walk yesterday. Will try to do that most days while here.

Found a friend- a scale that read 3 lbs less than my scale at home. :) I know it isn't correct but at least it will give me a sense of losing or gaining while here.

Didn't realize how many calories are in chicken piccata ! Hey, it's just chicken with some sauce- not sure where all the calories come from. I had 2 thin pieces of chicken, the sauce didn't seem too rich - some butter & flour & wine. Anyway, that is the challenge of eating out at an Italian restaurant.

Been here for 2 days & haven't been to the ocean yet, have to drive over for a look & a walk on the beach today.

Have a great day!

puddles on 10/29/2015:
Always nice to find a friendly scale.... lol I remember going to St. Petersburg for the Winter and not making it to the beach once. Just did not go there as a tourist after a while of being an owner. Take care enjoy your time in Florida.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 10/29/2015:
Yes, Italian restaurants have got to be the worst. If you are really in the mood to cut calories, salads are great. you can even have some bread with it...and of course protein in your salad and some dressing. and it's way healthier still in calories than everything else. enjoy your time where it's still warmer!

Hi-

An active day- an hour abs & weights class at the gym, outdoor chores- emptied & spread the mulch from 12 bags, finished off the porch project of removing mildew from the outside and then went on a hike to a tower & then walked up the tower. Whew- then finished it off with a little shopping at garden centers. The foliage is just spectacular. Actually not even tired.

Food so far has been good. Calories & carbs at a decent level. Snacks have been just apple & almonds. Dinner will have something to do with chicken.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

biscottibody59 on 10/25/2015:
Excellent day!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 10/27/2015:
nice job on your gardening :-D that is hard work and also very rewarding! you should be proud of yourself for the work you do!
